5 Key Learning outcomes Electrician Identify the type of batteries, construction, working and application of Nicadmium, lithium cell, lead acid cell etc. Demonstrate their charging and discharging, choosing appropriate method and carryout the installation and routine maintenance with due care and safety. Draw, estimate, wire up, test different type of domestic and industrial wiring circuits as per Indian Electricity rules and taking care of quality. Construction and working of MCB & ELCB. Test a domestic/industrial wiring installation using Megger. Understand the constructional features, working principles of DC machine. Starting with suitable starter, running, forward and reverse operation and speed control of DC motors. Conduct the load performance test of DC machine with due care and safety. Maintain and troubleshoot of DC machines. 5

6 Electrician Key Learning outcomes contd Understand the constructional features, working principles of single phase and 3 phase AC motors. Starting with suitable starter, running, forward and reverse operation and speed control of AC motors. Conduct the load performance test of AC machine with due care and safety. Maintain and troubleshoot of AC motors. Identify parts, installation, service, troubleshoot and repair of electrical appliances viz. Electric iron, heater, kettle, automatic toaster, geyser, mixer & grinder, washing machine and fan with due care and safety. Prepare single line diagram and layout plan of electrical transmission & distribution systems and plants with knowledge of principles and processes. Make and test cable joints of underground cable, identify parts and troubleshoot circuit breakers with care and safety. Learning outcomes in detail for Electrician 6

7 Key Learning outcomes contd Fi,er Demonstrate practical skills by using appropriate tools & equipment s and make gauges, slide fittings and simple jig & fixtures for drilling and also check for accuracy. Dismantle and repair damaged mechanical components used for power transmission or any assembly and re-assemble & check the same for appropriate functioning. Demonstrate practical skills and apply factual knowledge of field to maintain required tolerance of different mating surfaces by scraping and lapping. 7

8 Fitter Key Learning outcomes contd Perform the basic day to day repair and maintenance along with erection of general machine tools viz. lathe, drilling machine. Apply appropriate rule and select required tools to execute pipe joints, dismantle and assemble valves & fittings in pipes and test for leakages. Perform forging to make different hand tools and heat treat the same. Explain and apply factual knowledge of Limits, Fits and tolerance necessary for fitting applications. 9 Key Learning outcomes contd Turner Demonstrate practical skills involved in producing different forms of threads. Produce components as per industrial drawings and process plans. Demonstrate the operation of CNC turning machine and producing components as per drawing by preparing part programmes. Perform different complex operations (worm gear cutting, helical groove cutting etc.) on a turning machine being used in the industry. Produce and assemble components by performing different lathe operations with minimum assistance. Learning outcomes in detail for Turner 9

Basic assessment mechanisms: Internal assessments Terminal assessments Internal assessments Evidence based Assessment is carried out in Trade theory, Trade Practical, Workshop Calculation and Science, Engineering Drawing and Employability Skills. 13 Broad changes in approach for alignment of curricula as per NSQF: The content of the curricula revised and approved by Mentor Council in Reference of NOS taken in addition to NCO Curriculum transformed to outcome-based, learning outcome and assessment criteria defined Assessable outcomes to be tested during formative assessment, Theory & Practical examinations Internal assessment changed to 100 marks in place of 80 marks, accordingly terminal assessment reduced to 600 marks. 17 Progression from the qualifications Passed out trainee can take up NAC or CITS or Diploma in the relevant branch of Engineering Gujarat has already declared equivalence to 12 th standard for higher courses 17

18 Validation of Prior Learning Students having passed 10 th class with minimum 3 years relevant experience can appear in examination directly. Those having passed SCVT examination can also appear directly, as Private candidates International comparability where known. ITI passed out trainees are getting employment in many Gulf countries, European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore etc. 18

20 Assessment process- contd Question papers: Theory papers prepared by external experts appointed by NCVT Questions chosen from NIMI Question Bank Theory papers are OMR sheet based Practical papers prepared by external paper setters appointed by NCVT Printed at secrete Govt. Press and dispatched in sealed covers to Banks/Police stations nearest to the Exam centres Handed over to Exam centres only two hours prior to the commencement of Exam 20

21 Assessment process- contd Conduct of Exams: Supervised and monitored by Exam Board at each Centre Exam Board with representatives from industry/employer/state Government Appointment of proper invigilators and practical Examiners Empanelled Examiners from Polytechnics/Engg colleges/industry/govt. Dept. Flying squads to check malpractices. Evaluation: OMR based answer sheets evaluated by the third party evaluator i.e., National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Practical examination evaluated by the qualified examiner 21
