5 Key Learning outcomes Electrician Identify the type of batteries, construction, working and application of Nicadmium, lithium cell, lead acid cell etc. Demonstrate their charging and discharging, choosing appropriate method and carryout the installation and routine maintenance with due care and safety. Draw, estimate, wire up, test different type of domestic and industrial wiring circuits as per Indian Electricity rules and taking care of quality. Construction and working of MCB & ELCB. Test a domestic/industrial wiring installation using Megger. Understand the constructional features, working principles of DC machine. Starting with suitable starter, running, forward and reverse operation and speed control of DC motors. Conduct the load performance test of DC machine with due care and safety. Maintain and troubleshoot of DC machines. 5

Starting with suitable starter, running, forward and reverse operation and speed control of AC motors. Conduct the load performance test of AC machine with due care and safety. Maintain and troubleshoot of AC motors. Identify parts, installation, service, troubleshoot and repair of electrical appliances viz. Electric iron, heater, kettle, automatic toaster, geyser, mixer & grinder, washing machine and fan with due care and safety. Prepare single line diagram and layout plan of electrical transmission & distribution systems and plants with knowledge of principles and processes. Make and test cable joints of underground cable, identify parts and troubleshoot circuit breakers with care and safety. Learning outcomes in detail for Electrician 6
7 Key Learning outcomes contd Fi,er Demonstrate practical skills by using appropriate tools & equipment s and make gauges, slide fittings and simple jig & fixtures for drilling and also check for accuracy. Dismantle and repair damaged mechanical components used for power transmission or any assembly and re-assemble & check the same for appropriate functioning. Demonstrate practical skills and apply factual knowledge of field to maintain required tolerance of different mating surfaces by scraping and lapping. 7
8 Fitter Key Learning outcomes contd Perform the basic day to day repair and maintenance along with erection of general machine tools viz. lathe, drilling machine. Apply appropriate rule and select required tools to execute pipe joints, dismantle and assemble valves & fittings in pipes and test for leakages. Perform forging to make different hand tools and heat treat the same. Explain and apply factual knowledge of Limits, Fits and tolerance necessary for fitting applications. Demonstrate the operation of CNC turning machine and producing components as per drawing by preparing part programmes. Perform different complex operations (worm gear cutting, helical groove cutting etc.) on a turning machine being used in the industry.
