Welcome to Huron School of Nursing! Huron School of Nursing, the oldest school of nursing west of the Allegheny Mountains, has been preparing students since 1884 to be excellent registered nurses. Graduates of the 4-semester program earn a Diploma in Nursing and an Associate degree and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensure exam. Our mission is to educate individuals to assume the role of entry-level nurse generalist prepared to function in a variety of health care settings. Our goal is to provide competent, caring nurses to meet the nursing service needs of the Cleveland Clinic and family health centers and the community at large. 1 14

The school s outcomes-based curriculum and interactive learning strategies promote the student s engagement in the art and science of nursing. Penni Rolen, MSN, RN, CNS Director, Huron School of Nursing and skills acquired in the training program will facilitate a smooth transition into an entry level nursing assistant position. Upon successful completion of the 3-1/2 week program, participants will be eligible to take the competency examination to become a State Tested Nursing Assistant. For more information, visit www.cchseast.org/schools. Student Right to Information Information on program effectiveness, including graduation rates and NCLEX-RN pass rates, is available upon request and is also provided at the admission information session. This program has made me more self-directed and independent. I did what I set out to accomplish. Educational Resources Huron School of Nursing provides educational resources to assist the traditional and non-traditional student in successfully completing the nursing program. The program provides students with an emphasis on nursing knowledge and clinical practice and a strong liberal arts and science background. The program of study provides an excellent foundation for future completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Huron graduates receive advanced placement at Ohio colleges and universities participating in the Ohio Articulation in Nursing (ONAM) model. Huron School of Nursing offices and facilities are located in Huron Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic hospital. The hospital s professional library offers a wide selection of periodicals and reference material, as well as up-to-date computer technology for the access of nursing and medical information. A Learning Resource Center and Computer Lab also provide a variety of opportunities for learning via computer and other electronic media. Students have access to a Nursing Skills Lab at Huron Hospital, equipped with a Human Patient Simulator, for practice of nursing skills. Beginning Fall 2007, Huron School of Nursing will offer courses at a branch located at South Pointe Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic hospital. Admission Requirements Application to Huron School of Nursing is open to all high school graduates and applicants who have received a GED. High school students may apply in their junior or senior year for entrance after high school graduation. Applications may be submitted before all prerequisite courses are completed, but full acceptance to Huron is not granted until the following prerequisite courses (or their equivalent at other colleges) are completed. Most science courses need to have been completed within the previous 10 years. 5 Advanced Placement for Transfer Students Placement of applicants who wish to transfer from other schools of nursing is decided on an individual basis.
