Food Safety Legislation Database Countries: European and Asian countries. Other countries will be added later on. EU, ASEAN and CODEX are included as groups Subjects: pesticides, additives, contaminants, veterinary drugs etc. Information types: MRLs, Legislation documents, General information. To be extended with sampling, methods of analysis etc.

SELAMAT Food Safety overview Identified issues of common interest within ASEM countries and / or between ASEM countries and EU Information exchange on the topics i) Analytical methods, ii) MRLs and contaminant limits, iii) Dietary supplement database and iv) rapid alert information. ASEM EU collaboration further stimulated by i) coordination in the Region, ii) strengthening networks and iii) capacity building. Development of improved traceability systems. Research projects on i) mycotoxins, ii) antibiotic resistance, iii) development of quick assays (for pathogens), iv) aquaculture, v) quantitative microbiological risk assessment for pathogens, vi) alternatives to banned / prohibited substances in food production

Extend the SELAMAT network to Global dimensions SELAMAT meeting in Lisbon, Portugal (11 12 April 2005) we decided to prepare an EU proposal on Global Platform for Emerging Food Safety Risks Interested SELAMAT partners; RIKILT (coordinator), CSL, LCFA, ILSI SEA Region, IPP CAAS Submission date: 7 February 2006 Evaluation: March 2006 Proposal GO GLOBAL selected and started December 1 2006

GO GLOBAL objectives 1. To create a sustainable global platform for sharing results, stimulating dissemination and setting the research agenda on emerging food safety risks. 2. To develop a global implementation and harmonisation strategy for evaluation of research and related activities. 3. To identify shortcomings in current food safety systems regarding the identification of emerging risks. 4. To develop a strategic research agenda, and initiate joint research activities. 5. To stimulate global exchange of information and dissemination of emerging food safety issues.
