Rules and Regulations BADGES/WRISTBANDS: Each back number will receive two free wristbands. Wristbands are required for entrance to the Grand Prix. Additional wristbands are available for $10 in the show office. A souvenir American Royal badge may be purchased for $25. CAMPER/RV SPACES: All camper and RV reservations MUST be made through the American Royal Website at www.americanroyal.com. No reservations through the horse show office. Spaces must be reserved in advance of the show. Camper/RV charges will not be split through the show office. Limited space is available on a First Come-First Served Basis. Shower Facilities are available in the restrooms outside Hale Arena. COURTESY: Any discourteous act on the part of an owner, exhibitor, groom, trainer, or agent made toward judges, officials or staff will disqualify their entry and forfeit all fees and premiums. The Horse Show Committee shall have full power to act in issuing a ruling in such cases. Should the act justify it, the Horse Show Committee shall have power to exclude offender(s) from competition and remove them from the show grounds without being held liable for damages of any kind and this shall be accepted as a condition of entry. CREDENTIALS: All participants (riders, drivers, handlers, owners, trainers, coaches, agents or lessees) must present to the competition secretary a current USEF/USHJA membership card or copy thereof, or pay the Non-Member fee. All junior and pony hunters must possess and present to the horse show office, a current USEF measurement card. All amateur-owners and adult amateurs must present their amateur cards at the time of number pick-up. To speed the entry processing as well as check-in time, please enclose Coggins test papers with your mailed entries. All horses competing in federation recognized competitions must be properly identified and must obtain a Horse ID Number from the Federation. This number can be either a Life/Annual Recorded with USEF Number or a Horse ID Number from USEF. An identification number for each horse must be entered on all entry forms for recognized competitions. Only one Horse ID Number will be issued per horse, and must remain with the horse throughout its career. Anyone knowingly applying for a duplicate Horse ID Number may be subject to disciplinary action. DOGS: All pets on the grounds must be on a leash at all times! Dogs will not be allowed in the Horse Arenas at any time. LATE ENTRIES: ENTRIES RECEIVED AFTER SEPTEMBER 16, 2016 WILL BE CONSIDERED LATE ENTRIES AND A ONE TIME LATE FEE OF $50 PER HORSE MAY BE CHARGED. Entry blanks will not be accepted unless signed by the owner or authorized agent, rider and trainer, and accompanied with a check or credit card payment. Stall fees must accompany entry to insure reservations. Please declare all classes the day before they are held to insure your entry will be accepted. SAME DAY ADDS MAY BE DISALLOWED IF ENTRIES WARRANT! The Entry Form must include: * Horses name and complete description * All signatures, including legal guardian in the case of a minor exhibitor * All organization membership numbers * Social Security or Federal ID number for owner * Riders age/birthday FEED AND BEDDING: Due to rising costs regarding disposal of stall bedding materials, exhibitors are asked to purchase shavings and straw on site. Bulk deliveries of shavings will not be allowed. Thank you for your understanding. During the show, feed, grain, hay, straw and shavings may be ordered from the feed department. Orders must be placed between 7:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Orders will be paid for in the Horse Show Office. Electrical Adaptors may be picked up in the Feed and Bedding office located in far southwest corner of Hale stabling area. BEDDING: Shavings: $9/bag Straw: TBD FEED: Several types of grain and hay are available through the Feed Room. FEES: STALLS CANNOT BE RESERVED WITHOUT PAYMENT! No postdated checks will be accepted. Credit cards will be accepted (see entry form.) When checking in at the show office an open check MUST be left in the office for additional entry fees and charges made during the show. A $50.00 fee will be charged for all returned checks. If a returned check has not been taken care of within two (2) weeks after notification, your name will be submitted to USEF. HUNTER/JUMPER SPECIAL NOTE: To be eligible for Under Saddle classes, horses must be entered, shown, and judged in at least one other class over fences in that division. HUNTER PRIZE MONEY DISTRIBUTION: All purses will be divided as follows unless otherwise specified: 1 st 30%; 2 nd 22%; 3 rd 15%; 4 th 12%; 5 th 11%; 6 th 10% JUMPING ORDER: A rotating jump order will be established and posted for any jumper classes, classics, equitation medals and other classes that have priority. All horses must be ridden in the posted order. Riders and Trainers who have conflicts MUST see the starter so the necessary adjustments can be made. No show ring will be held up due to conflicts for more than three minutes. All accepted post entries/adds will show at the top of an existing jump order. MEASUREMENT: Management shall not permit an animal to be shown at this show in any division or section that requires a Measurement Card unless the owner is in possession of a measurement card issued by the USEF or unless he possesses a copy of a valid Measurement Form. Show Office will not give out exhibitor s number until the necessary information has been received or the horse/pony in question has been measured by the Steward and Veterinarian. To speed processing send a copy of your card with entry blank. Measurement time for junior hunters and ponies will be available in the horse show office. MEDICAL WASTE: Due to Federal Regulations, all medical waste must be separated. Receptacles are provided for disposal of hypodermic needles. Failure to use them will result in a $100 fine. Please do not mix with manure waste or trash cans. MOTORIZED VEHICLE STATEMENT Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/ or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. PARENTS: If not accompanying a minor, please send permission for medical treatment (responsibility for care) with trainer or a responsible adult. POLING: Manual poling and use of bamboo offsets are prohibited at all times while on the grounds. 10

PREMIUM PAYMENT: Prize money will be credited to the owner s account. Additional prize money checks will be mailed no later than three (3) weeks following the final performance of this show. Be sure to mark on entry form where premium checks are to go. No prize money will be mailed unless the Social Security Number or FID Number is listed on the entry blank! REFUNDS: NO REFUNDS ON STALLS, NOMINATION FEES OR OFFICE FEES. Once a horse is entered and accepted by the show, it may not be withdrawn from competition without permission of Management. Exhibitors shall be held responsible for entry fees of all horses entered by them or their agents even though payment of these fees is not submitted along with entry form. Entry refunds will be granted only upon receipt of a satisfactory vet certificate. Once the horse has arrived on the show grounds, only a statement from the official horse show veterinarian, physician or paramedic will be accepted with a show scratch form. When a valid notification is received, only class fees will be refunded. Stabling Fees, and Office Fees will not be refunded. With a veterinarian certificate, a new horse may be substituted for a scratched horse. Any classes added or scratched, stall and nomination fee will be treated as a transfer. RIBBONS: A trophy and eight ribbons will be awarded in every class, unless specified. Hunter and Jumper Championships and Reserve will be awarded by points 10, 6, 4, 2, 1 and ½ with model classes being half points. All ties involving 1 st Place will be jumped off in Jumper Classes. Jumper ties for other than first place will have time be the deciding factor. RIDING AREAS: All arenas/school areas are a combination of sifted sand/dirt. ARENA DIMENSIONS: Scott Arena 130' X 240' Hale Arena 145 X 250 Tom Bass Arena 125 x 225 SCHOOLING: It is compulsory for all riders in all Hunter, Jumper and Hunt Seat Equitation classes where jumping is required and when jumping anywhere on the competition grounds to wear properly fastened protective headgear which meets or exceed ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)/SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. It must be properly fitted with harness secured. Show Committee must bar riders without protective headgear from entering the ring for classes in which protective headgear is required and may bar any entry or person from entering the ring if not suitably presented to appear before an audience. Proper attire includes riding breeches and hard soled shoes. SCHOOLING: Schooling will be open in hunter rings on Monday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. A minimum of ten (10) fences shall be set at 2 9 in height with spreads not to exceed the fence height. There will be three (3) high option fences set at 3 0 in height with spreads not to exceed the fence height. Formal attire is requested, but not required. The class must be run in accordance with HU120.6 and include at least one (1) in and out, a bending line, a long approach to a single oxer, and a trot fence. The use of natural obstacles is encouraged, but not mandatory. Eligibility/Restrictions: 1. Open to junior and amateur riders (certification required) whose home Zone of record is Zone 7, and who are Active members of USEF and USHJA before the start of the Handy Hunter Challenge. Horses must be registered with USHJA in order to participate. Riders may only compete on one horse or pony per Handy Hunter Challenge. Riders entered in the Handy Hunter Challenge may not cross enter into any other class held at the same competition where the height of fences exceeds 3 1 (.95m) except for a National Hunter Derby. Professionals are not eligible to compete in the Handy Hunter Challenge. $5,000 Hunter Derby Sponsored by The McCasland Family Restrictions: This class will be open to all horses and riders who are entered in any rated hunter section at this Horse Show. In this Derby ponies will be ineligible to compete. The Derby will be run at two heights, at 3' with 2 option fences set no higher than 3'5". The second height will be 3'6" with 2 option fences set at 3'11". Round One is the regular Classic format. Round 2 is a Handy Hunter course. This course will consist of a minimum of two of the following: trot jump, open gate while mounted, lead over a jump, tight turn option, clever options for jump approaches, halt and/or back, walk over a jump. There is no limit to the number of horses a rider may ride.
