Welcome A fter 2 years in the planning you are about to experience what we will hope will become one of the world s most iconic scenic Marathons thank you and congratulations for being part of the very first edition! For me, at the heart of every great Marathon, is a great course. Yes, we will put all the fluff around the edges, but the course is where it s really at in terms of delivering you an outstanding experience. And the course may look logical and relatively simple in terms of the route it follows, but trust me, this was 6 months of painstaking trial and error to create the relatively flat and scenically stunning course we hope you enjoy it! Lots of people have helped get us to this point, so thank you to all involved, but in particular I would like to highlight the support of the Trails Trust, who effectively built much of the course; the Lakes District Council who have turned into an event friendly destination, and Air New Zealand who s support has been outstanding, including walking the talk with the Chair, CEO and 190 staff taking part this weekend! Good luck for race day, remember to pace yourselves, and I look forward to welcoming you across the finish line! Dave Beeche CEO, Air New Zealand International Marathon The Lakes District is a stunning area. Please help to keep it this way by not dropping litter on the course and taking any litter away with you! Thank you for keeping Lakes District beautiful. page 2
