PoloDroiD GoGGle The magic of virtual reality (VR) Imagination is your Limitation For the 1st time in India, Being in another world - not just looking at a place on a computer screen, but actually experiencing it, as if you're standing there, A Virtual Reality and Android based workshop by ARK Technosolutions. PoloDroid 3D Goggles is a design for a 3D virtual reality Head Mount device made with a smartphone and cardboard. Here you will get the opportunity to learn the art of making cardboard Goggles with lenses which will give you 3 dimensional virtual view of your android smart phone screen. You will learn about fundamentals of physics like polarization and Immersion (that feeling of being embedded in a 3D world, with no distracting hardware) is the province of the power players in the VR market. This means super high-res screens, high refresh rates (90 Hz or higher), and fast processors (i.e., actual computers, with dedicated graphics processing). PoloDroid 3D Goggles comes as a single, flat sheet of cardboard which you fold up into a set of goggles. The only non-cardboard bits are the biconvex lenses, a rubber band, a magnet, and some Velcro. The magnet slides in a little recess, and is used as a button. The phone's magnetometer (compass) picks up movement, and registers this as a button press. Email us @ : ark.internship@gmail.com Page 3
You can select different options by moving your head to point at icons, and navigate the virtual world.once you've put it together you drop your phone into the back panel, Velcro it down, and go. You hold the Cardboard box up to your face, and suddenly you're looking at a horizontal row of applications. It contains another really cool feature and that is the magnetic ring located on the left side of the Cardboard. It is actually a magnet that slides down and then slips back into place because of another magnet on the other side. The movement of the magnet allows it to act as a button, allowing you to select options in the VR Cardboard app while your phone is inside the Cardboard. The Principle: Use your smartphone s screen to send slightly different images to your eyes. The shift in the image gives the illusion of 3-dimensional reality. A similar system could be used to turn any screen into a VR headset - though the lenses would have to be tailored to the right dimensions.
