Multi-point Door Lock Accessories Dummy Plates The Dummy Plates offer several options for mounting escutcheon plates and levers to doors. The primary use of the dummy plate is to provide a balanced aesthetic appearance between the decorative trim on the inactive panel and the decorative trim on the active panel on a set of double (French) doors. There are several hardware options for the inactive panel. In the case where a Cremona 2- point, lever operated system is not desired, the dummy plate offers a method to attach the escutcheon plates and lever to the inactive panel in such a way that it does not have any function but rather balances the appearance. The dummy plate is surface mounted onto the door stile. The dummy plate is then covered by the decorative escutcheon plates and levers. Qty. Technical Information Multi-point Hardware Installation Instructions Tools required: Plunge Router, Chisel, mm (5/"Ø) drill bit, G-U Edge router bit #9-U232-00-0- Hacksaw, Phillips Screwdriver, 9 mm (3/4"Ø) drill bit, G-U Mortise Router Bit #9-U233-00-0- Vise, Square, mm (7/"Ø) drill bit, Door Preparation. Mount G-U router bit #9-U232-00-0- in router and set router bit depth as specified in the Milling Details section. 2. Make one pass over door edge where door lock is to be installed ensuring the router is level and true. 3. After the first pass, check routing to ensure the proper dimensions have been achieved. If dimensions are not accurate, a second pass may be required. 4. Measuring from the bottom of the door, mark handle height center on the door edge. Confirm actual physical door lock handle height with the mark on the door. 5. For Europa door locks, measure from handle height center mark on door edge, down 25 mm (4 5/") towards bottom of the door and mark. Then measure from handle height center mark, up mm (3 7/ ) towards the top of the door and mark. This is your mortise location. Confirm overall mortise location with the actual mortise case.. For New Breed door locks, measure from handle height center mark on the door edge, down 2 mm (3 /4") towards bottom of the door and mark. Then measure from handle height center mark up, 34 mm (5 9/32 ) towards the top of the door and mark. This is your mortise location. Confirm overall mortise location with the actual mortise case. 7. Determine the depth of backset. This should be stamped on the side of the mortise case, for example: 50/92 means the backset = 50 mm and the distance from the center line of handle to center line of the cylinder = 92 mm.. The mortise pocket depth is the backset (X) + mm This is the depth of your mortise router bit. For Example: The mortise pocket depth for a 50 mm backset is 50+=70 mm. 9. Insert G-U mortise router bit #9-U233-00-0- in router and make necessary adjustments according to the mortise pocket depth as mentioned in Step. 0. Make several small incremental passes with router in order to achieve the proper depth and to prevent damage to the door and mortise bit.. Using the multi-point door lock and the appropriate catalog product page locate and mill any additional mortise pockets that may be required for the type of multi-point hardware being installed. 2. Place door lock in door edge groove to ensure proper fit. 3. Verify the face plate of the door lock is level with the edge of the door. 4. Locate the handle height center mark on the door edge and measure from the door edge, across the stile face, towards the door hinge side to locate the backset depth. All other holes for the trim are referenced from this point. Refer to the Milling Details section. Backset C/L Handle height C/L.32 Edition 07 / C
Technical Information Installation Instructions: Cremona, Cremona R2, and Wolverine Hardware Installation Cremona shown. Install door lock # in door. 2. Confirm the bottom of lock assembly # is flush with bottom of door and the shoot #2 is not extended. 3. Verify the mortise case spindle and lock cylinder mechanisms align properly with the drilled holes in the stile face. 4. Remove door lock assembly and place reversing gear #3 in top of door making sure reversing gear is flush with top of door and it is not extended. Re-install door lock assembly in door. 5. If an extension #4 is required, lay the extension between the door lock # and the reversing gear #3. The extension #4 should overlap each. 3. Determine the proper distance to cut the faceplate #5 on door lock # and/or extension #4 and mark the faceplate(s). NOTE: (25mm) of serrated teeth are necessary for connections. 7. Remove the door lock components from the door and cut the faceplate(s) to length.. Place coupler # of the extension on toothed rod of door lock #, making sure the end of the face plate #5 of the door lock is nearly touching the face plate of extension #4. NOTE: Toothed rod must engage full length of coupler #. 0. Reinstall the door lock # and extension #4 into the door making sure bottom of the door lock assembly is flush with bottom of door and all locking points are retracted.. Place coupler of the reversing gear #7 on toothed rod of the extension #4 (or door lock # if extension is not required) with face plates coming together. (Any minor gap between face plates will be covered up with an adjustable plate on the hardware.) 2. Confirm all door lock components are connected together making sure top and bottom of the door lock mechanisms are flush with the door and all locking points are retracted. 3. Move sliding plate on reversing gear #3 (and/or extension #4) over edge of door lock faceplate to cover exposed edge(s) of cut hardware. 4. After locking components have been properly installed, use wood screws to secure the locking system to door. 5. Technical Information Troubleshooting G-U multi-point door lock systems When troubleshooting a G-U multi-point locking system, first perform a function check. To verify the proper function of the mechanism follow the steps on the next page, in the order shown, for the appropriate system. If a problem is encountered at any point, then check the chart below to identify the cause of the problem. If the door has already been installed perform the function check while the door is open, if possible. If the hardware functions properly while the door is open but not when it is closed then the door may have been installed incorrectly. In this case, please contact the door manufacturer or installer. If any of the following steps do not resolve the problem, please contact G-U Hardware, Inc. Problem Lever can't be pressed down. Locking point(s) don't retract when the lever is pressed down. Locking point(s) do not activate when lever is raised (for all systems except Eagle). Lever can't be raised. Thumb-turn does not turn. Handle can still be pressed down after thumb-turn is turned. Deadbolt does not throw full amount. Latches do not engage fully when trigger is activated (Eagle only). Corrective action Check to make sure the mechanism isn't locked. If extensions are used, ensure that the shipping tab has been sheared. Look for visible obstructions. If a non-standard backset is used, the driving rods may be incorrectly attached. If extensions are used, ensure that the shipping tab has been sheared. If a non-standard backset is used, the driving rods may be incorrectly attached. Look for visible obstructions/proper strike alignment. If extensions are used, ensure that the shipping tab has been sheared. Look for visible obstructions. Ensure that all locking points have been extended fully. Check to see if the thumb-turn tailpiece has been properly installed. Ensure that all locking points have been extended fully. Thumb-turn tailpiece may be bent. Replace. Look for visible obstructions. If a non-standard backset is used, the driving rods may be incorrectly attached. Latch or trigger may require lubrication. Check proper alignment of strikes. Driving rods may be incorrectly attached. Check for visible obstructions. Edition 07 / C.37
