Thanks, Kristy & Nicole Alternative Discipline Ideas: Implementing effective discipline techniques is important in helping your child learn to control their behavior and help them make decisions between what s right and wrong. Positive discipline will help teach your child positive behaviors, good values, develop self-control, and responsibility. Instead of punishing your child when they do something wrong, try a few of these alternative discipline ideas:

1. Ask them why they chose the behavior that was displayed and listen to their reason (It may be better than you think!) 2. Explain to them why their chosen behavior was wrong in that situation. 3. Let them know what you expect from them the next time a similar situation happens. 4. Talk to them about the consequences that will happen if they don t choose the correct behavior (logical and natural consequences). IE: If they don t finish their homework, instead of staying up late to finish they will need to go to school and explain to their teacher why it s not finished. 5. Be sure to discipline your child privately as well as respectfully. Hello from the Infant Room! All of the babies are growing up so fast! Ellie loves talking to the little babies. Raylee is walking! Lucy is pulling herself up. Gavin is getting more teeth. Zaya is starting to teethe, Laila and Jace love to talk and tell stories. We want to wish Rose a Happy 1 st Birthday this month! The themes for this month are Dr. Suess, St. Patrick s Day, Spring, Easter, and Baby Animals. I just wanted to let you know that I will be doing conferences on Wednesday, March 18 th. I will put the signup sheet on the door on Wednesday, March 4 th. If you have any questions please let us know. We hope you can join us at our carnival on Thursday, March 5 th at 3:15. Ms. Sarah and Ms. Sara Greetings from the Toddler Room, The toddlers certainly enjoyed their Valentine party! The month of February really flew by. We are all looking forward to our carnival on Thursday, March 5 th at 3:15. The children are getting excited about that. March will be a very busy month; we will be decorating our room for St. Patrick s Day! Spring themes also start this month. We will be decorating our room for the Easter bunny, using lots of pastel colors. Mrs. Joan, Miss Lynn, and Miss Kayla A note from Mrs. Joan: On a bitter-sweet note I have decided to retire from Kids Country at the end of March/ first week in April. I have been here for 16 years and I have truly enjoyed watching all the children grow up here. I have learned so much from all of them. I was fortunate to have worked with wonderful parents

and families and have appreciated everyone. I will now be able to spend more time with my grandchildren and be able to slow my life down. I will miss everyone so much! May God bless all of you. Take Care, Mrs. Joanie Top of the Morning to Ya! Welcome to March, hopefully it warms up soon. We finished February by dissecting a pig s heart; the kids were really excited about touching the heart, inside and out and the blood! Our units for March will include a continuation of the heart, St. Patrick s Day, Easter and Spring (I hope the weather also cooperates). We re hoping to take a field trip to Bounce Adventure sometime in March if it works out. Also, we will be welcoming two new preschoolers to-be, Avah and Alice, welcome girls! Have a great March! Mr. Don, Ms. Brittany, Ms. Leah Hello from the Late Preschool Room! Is everyone surviving this goofy winter? There sure has been some weird weather with it being super cold outside or really nice! The preschoolers had a really fun February! First they were really good going to Subway to get their sandwiches made for lunch! The staff at Subway were very impressed with how well behaved the preschoolers were! Great job guys! Then the kids had a lot of fun for Valentine s Day! They spent the morning passing out their valentines and then got to eat a special treat and look at their valentines! Finally, we got to make up our January field trip to North Crest! They all had a blast playing all the gymnastics equipment. Our March field trip will be to Great River Bowl in Sartell. Be on the lookout for the date, time, and cost! Our annual carnival will be on Thursday, March 5 th from 3:15-4:15. This year s theme is sports! Please let us know if you will be coming to walk around with your child!

We just want to remind and encourage parents to please feel free to come talk to us at any time with questions or concerns you may have. Thanks! Mrs. Jen, Ms. Kayla, Mrs. JoAnn Hello, here s some news from the Jr. Explorer room Spring is only days away, how exciting is that?
