Switch on the ignition. Switch the wipers on and off Switch off the ignition. Windscreen wiper blades Fold out the wiper arm Remove the wiper blade. Remove the protective cover from the nut Protect the rear edge of the bonnet and the wiper arm. Use tape for example (as illustrated) Slacken off the nut for the wiper arm a few turns. Leave the nut in place to protect the threads on the shaft journal Press the wiper arm downwards. Tap it gently. Use a plastic mallet (as illustrated) Remove the nut and wiper arm. Windscreen wiper mechanism Remove the windscreen wiper arms, see Remove the plenum chamber and gutter. See Cowl, replacing Disconnect the 2 connectors from the wiper motor Remove the screws from the mechanism. Remove the lug from the rubber bushing. Windscreen wiper motor Remove the wiper arms. Installation Windscreen wiper motor Lubricate the ball on the link arm using grease Install the 3 screws for the windscreen wiper motor Position a spanner as support between the link arm and the bracket and screw head. See illustration Position the control arm on the ball. Carefully tap the control arm into place. Use a sleeve and a mallet. Windscreen wiper mechanism Lubricate the lug using a soap solution Install the mechanism in the correct position Tighten the screws Connect the connectors Tighten the screws. Tighten to 20 Nm. Start with the outer screw (closest to the front wing) Install the panel over the wiper mechanism Reset the wiper motor and mechanism by switching on the ignition and then turn the wiper switch on and off Install the wiper arms. See Windscreen wiper arms. Press the wiper arm into place on the shaft journal Screw the nut into place loosely Adjust the wiper arm to the correct position.
