Preface The test system TS8997 covers the regulatory test of wireless devices in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band according to the new standards ETSI EN 300 328 v1.9.1 and ETSI EN 301 893 v1.8.1. It is controlled by EMC32, the Rohde & Schwarz System Software for EMC measurements on 32 and 64-bit operating systems from Microsoft (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7). It provides a common user interface for Emission Measurements (EMI), Susceptibility Measurements (EMS) and an Application Interface Macro language for general purpose which is designed to operate like a virtual instrument. It combines the convenience of an intuitive graphical user interface according to the actual Windows standards with the maximum flexibility both for support of measurement devices and for running EMC measurements. This manual should guide and support the user during his first experience with EMC32 software. Therefore the manual provides step by step procedures from software installation and configuration to the first EMC measurement using figures and examples. A detailed description of the installation procedure is provided in the manual "Installation Guide" which is available in printed form and in electronic form on the CD. -07 Page 6

3 Available Software and documents on the DVD -> Step1 - Install NIDAQ and ni4882 Drivers -> Step2 - Install EMC32 software and required extensions -> Step3 - Installing and connecting OSP Panel -> Step2.2 If available copy the patch to the Execute folder of EMC32 -> Step3.1 - Import Paths to OSP Panel -> Step4 - Restore the TS8997 backup files 4.1 - Configure the devices in the Device List Note: Step3 is applicable only if not preinstalled. Skip the step3 if it is already installed. Page 11-07
4 Step1 - Install NI DAQ and ni4882 Drivers Install the NIDAQ and ni4882_311 software Marked options should be present in the list of Software. Software version of NI-DAQmx. should be at least 9.6. -07 Page 12
5 Step2 - Installing EMC32 and the required extensions Install the EMC32 software from the EMC32_CD_Image Folder by double clicking on the Setup_EMC32_AMS32.3.exe file Page 13-07
5.1 Step2.1 After EMC32 installation - Drivers update check Install the required drivers for the TS8997 system. -07 Page 14
5.2 Step2.2 Example for copying patches to the Execute folder of EMC32 If new patches are available then copy it as defined. If no patch is available then skip this step. Page 15-07
6 Step3 - Installing and connecting OSP Panel Skip this step, if Path configuration is already installed on the OSP 120 Install the software. Click to the Start button of windows to open start menu Open the OSP panel After Opening the OSP panel, connect the OSP panel physically with the OSP120 via an appropriate IP address. -07 Page 16
6.1 Step3.1 - Import Paths to OSP Panel paths_osp_b157_new.zip Unzip the OSP path in some folder Following paths should be present in the folder After connecting the OSP120 physically, go to Import Paths in order to import the OSP paths from the paths_osp_b157_new folder Page 17-07

7.2 Step 4.2 Configuring connected devices of the Device List 7.2.1 OSP-B157 Power Meter For the OSP-B157 Power Meter configuration in the device list, the ident number of the connected OSP-B157 is needed. The ident number can be found on the back of the module Page 21-07
7.2.2 TS8997 Vector Generator For all DFS tests, the vector generator is used to generate the neccessary radar pulse signals. Radar pulse signals are stored as arbitrary waveform files on the internal harddisk of the vector generator. Since Version 9.22 the waveform files are installed on the PC together with the EMC32 Software. For the very first time (or any subsequent updates) it is absolutely necessary to install/copy the waveform files to the vector generator. It is possible to do this using the device settings dialog of the installed vector generator. Precondition: Connected vector generator is switched to pysical and options K6 or K350 are available on the device. Click the button Upload TS8997 Waveform files and follow the progress. Unzip and transfer the files to the device will take several minutes. Wait until the message Transfer completed appears below then progressbar. -07 Page 22
