Essential Oil First Aid A fun and easy first-aid kit for prevention and general family health

The following recommendations are what has worked for us (Sara & Natasha) and our families. ii
Wellness Lineup A few tips of keeping your family health plan simple using essential oils Diffuse 5 or 6 drops of Purification OR Thieves to your diffuser to help kill airborne germs Topically apply a couple drops of Thieves on the bottoms of your feet before bed Add 1-2 drops of Lemon or Grapefruit to water and sip throughout the day Don t leave home without your Thieves AntiBacterial Hand Spray -- add it to your purse, baby bag, travel bag, gym bag, workspace and care for hands and surfaces 3
Cold & Sore Throat Add 1-2 drops Lemon to water Add 1-2 drop Thieves to warm water Apply 1-2 drops Thieves and/or Oregano on soles of feet throughout the day Diffuse 5 or 6 drops of R.C. or Lavender in your bedroom to help induce a restful sleep Diffuse 5 or 6 drops of Thieves or Purification around the house to kill airborne germs Add 1 drop lemon to raw honey to soothe sore throats 4
HOMEMADE VAPOUR RUB 1 tsp carrier oil (coconut, almond, olive) 3 drops R.C. 3 drops Thieves 3 drops Peace & Calming HOMEMADE COUGH SYRUP 2 inch chunk of ginger root, sliced into small pieces 2 cloves garlic, whole but smashed 1 stick cinnamon 1/2 cup raw honey juice of 1 lemon Add your carrier oil and drops of essential oils to a glass jar, mix well, and apply every 3 to 4 hours on the back and/or chest, as needed. 1 to 2 drops of Lemon and/or Peppermint (no peppermint for tiny people) If honey is solid then place jar in a bowl of hot water to slightly liquify, but do not heat (or honey won t remain raw). Transfer to a glass or mason jar. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Keep in fridge. Take a spoonful of the mixture whenever you get a cough or sore throat. Avoid the chunks, or remove them from teh jar after a day or two. 5
Tummy Ache Methods for aches from a stomach bug OR indigestion OR motion sickness Apply 2 to 3 drops of DiGize (half that dosage and add carrier oil for children) on the abdomen and rub around your belly button every 3 to 4 hours, as needed Diffuse DiGize (or a digestive blend that includes: peppermint, fennel, ginger) for little ones Apply 1 to 2 drops of Thieves or Oregano on the soles of the feet to help rid of the virus or bacteria several times throughout the day 6
Ear Ache 1 tsp carrier oil (coconut or almond or olive) 4 drops Purification 4 drops Lavender 4 drops Melaleuca Add your carrier oil and drops of essential oil to a glass jar and mix well. Apply around the ear (outside the ear only) and down the side of the neck, several times throughout the day, until the discomfort is gone. Add 1 drop Basil oil on a cotton ball, taped to outside of ear opening Apply Oregano to soles of feet 7
Sinus Trouble 5 drops Melaleuca 9 drops Rosemary 2 drops Eucalyptus 2 drops Lavender 3 drops Peppermint Add Sinus Blend to a diffuser. Place a few drops in your hands, rub clockwise and cup hands over nose, inhaling deeply with you nose. Apply to bottoms of the feet or back of the neck (or directly on the sinuses, being very careful and not close to eyes). Combine Sinus Blend mixture to 1/2 cup sea salt. Add 2 tsp to a NETI POT with 1 1/2 cups warm water. Add 1 drop R.C. to 1 tsp salt -- add to neti pot with warm water. 8
Flu Bomb The moment flu enters your house, blow it up -- or prevent using this blend 4 drops Thieves 4 drops Lemon 2 drops Melaleuca 3 drops Oregano 2 drops Frankincense Rub along spine, add to diffuser, apply to bottoms of feet OR add to gel caps for ingestion. 9
First Aid (cuts, nicks, burns) 5 drops Lavender 3 drops Melaleuca 1/2 tsp sea salt 1 cup water Combine in a glass spray bottle. Use for little boo-boos your kiddies might have, to soothe and prevent infection. BURNS: Lavender FUNGUS ON SKIN: Melaleuca SOOTHING: Lavender, Frankincense, Sandelwood 10
Stress Reduction The following essential oils support and nurture the parasympathetic nervous system, which is imperative to proper digestion and immune health. Diffuse the following in a diffuser, or place a little on the inside of your child s wrist, when appropriate: Stress Away: A general stress tonic Valor: When experiencing fear or a lack of confidence -- good before a sports game or performance Peace & Calming: When the mind can t settle down or calm Joy: If the mood is grumpy Lavender: A very relaxing herb 11
Essential Oils Basics There are very few tricks and tips to essential oils, though using them may feel daunting at first. The best way to learn is the USE them and experience it for yourself.
Dilution & Carrier Oils Many oils are considered hot and are not suitable for bare skin and require a carrier oil Carrier Oils Coconut Oil (solid or fractionated) Sweet Almond Oil Olive Oil Essential Oil Dilution For Children 6 months - 2 years: 1 drop + 2 tsp carrier oil 6 months - 2 years: drop on hanky tied outside crib 2-5 years: 1-3 drops + 2 tsp carrier oil 6-12 years: half adult dose 12+: adult dose 13
How To Use Essential Oils BREATHE IN: Diffuse in a diffuser Drop in hands, rub clockwise, cup hands over nose and inhale Directly from bottle Vaporize in hot water TOPICAL: Safest applied to bottoms of feet Apply to head, chest, back of neck, behind ears -- you must dilute with carrier oil on little ones INTERNAL: Under tongue In water, cooking, inside gel capsule 14
