1 EASY, EFFECTIVE, WEEKEND DETOX PLAN As the holidays come to an end many of us just know that we have overdone it! Your energy levels are close to zero, your mind is sluggish, your tummy feels bloated, you re just uncomfortable...not a great way to start the New Year. It s definitely time for a detox. This easy, effective weekend plan is gentle and safe and offers you a great way to start the New Year in peak condition. CAUTION: Don t detox when pregnant, breast feeding, menstruating or have a cold or infection. If you have any medical problems, check with your doctor first. HERE IS EVERYTHING YOU LL NEED: A small selection of fresh, organic seasonal salad greens for 1 meal Seasonal organic fruit to snack on throughout the weekend (including 2 lemons) Fresh organic vegetable (including ginger) Fresh sugar free juices of cranberry and pineapple Psyllium husks (from a health food store) Herbal teas: dandelion, chamomile and peppermint 10 pints (6 litres) of mineral or spring water Our Body Hydrate Oil in Sicilian Orange & Mandarin Our Body Cleanse Gel in Sicilian Orange & Mandarin Our Active Face Cleanse Gel Our Active Herbal Toner Our Active Face Hydrating Gel Our Detox Face Mask Epsom salts Plenty of towels Natural candles An inspirational book Soothing music Lets get started, Its easy... DURING YOUR DETOX Avoid: dairy fried food preservatives canned food carbonated drinks Focus: fresh food source organic whenever possible 1
2 EASY, EFFECTIVE, WEEKEND DETOX PLAN The evening before 1. Follow the Relaxing Bath Routine: Light a few candles in the bathroom. Turn on some soothing music. Fill a bath with warm comforting water add a tablespoon of epsom salt and spray Body Hydrate Oil liberally on the surface, add two tablespoons of Body Cleanse Gel. Apply Detox Face Mask to your face. Step into the water leaving all the stresses and strains of the day behind. Lay with eyes closed for 15 minutes. Rinse off Detox Face Mask. Apply Active Herbal Toner and Active Face Hydrating Gel per instructions. On getting out of bath dry body with a rough towel starting from your feet and working your way up. Massage the entire body with Body Hydrate Oil starting from your feet and working your way up. 2. Have a light dinner of steamed veggies and brown rice. 3. Before bed, have a hot drink of hot chamomile tea with the juice of half a lemon and some grated, fresh ginger. GOOD NIGHT, SLEEP WELL... 2
3 EFFECTIVE, EASY, WEEKEND DETOX PLAN EACH DAY Drink 2 cups of dandelion tea Have a cup of peppermint tea after each meal Have a cup of chamomile tea before bed (you may add fresh grated ginger) Day 1 Start the day with a glass of warm water and the juice of half a lemon and fresh grated ginger. Take a Kick Start Shower Start the day with a warm shower using the Body Cleanse Gel in Sicilian Orange & Mandarin follow this with a cold shower for a minute. Dry yourself with a rough towel. Breakfast Detox smoothie (recipe included, see page 4) Fruit salad with berries Lunch Salad greens with cranberries, pomegranate and pine nuts (season with 1 tsp of fresh lemon juice and olive oil) Follow the Relaxing Bath Routine (on page 2) Dinner Your favourite lentil soup recipe avoid canned soup (high in preservatives and/or salt) Steamed veggies Fresh fruit for desert (eat 30 minutes after your meal). Day 2 Start the day with a glass of warm water and the juice of half a lemon and fresh grated ginger. Take a Kick Start Shower (see day 1) Breakfast Detox smoothie (recipe included, see page 4) Fruit salad with berries and soy yogurt Lunch Tofu scramble (recipe included, see page 4) Follow the Relaxing Bath Routine (on page 2) Dinner Spicy bean and veggie bake (recipe included, see page 5) Fresh fruit for desert (eat 30 minutes after your meal). GOOD NIGHT GORGEOUS, DON T YOU FEEL FANTASTIC! 3
4 RECIPES DETOX SMOOTHIE Blend the following in a blender 125 ml (4.25 fl oz) pineapple juice, 125 ml (4.25 fl oz) cranberry juice 100 ml (3.5 oz) water 2 tbsp psyllium husks 50g (1.7 oz) fresh fruit of your choice (papaya is a good one) drink immediately TOFU SCRAMBLE What you ll need: 14 oz cube of tofu (firm or extra firm) 2 cups of broccoli chopped into small florets 2 cups of arugula (Rocket) loosely packed 1 sweet pepper (green, yellow or red) chopped 2 shallots (or one medium onion) 2-3 large cloves of garlic serves between 2-4 people 1 tbsp olive oil 2 tbsp tamari or soy sauce ginger powder (sprinkle) cayenne pepper (sprinkle) 1/4 tsp turmeric several pinches Sea salt (unrefined is best) 1/2 tsp dried sweet basil 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning We suggest that whenever possible, use organic ingredients (especially tofu and tamari as soy products are often genetically modified) Preparation: Drain water from tofu and set aside. In a medium size cast iron skillet: Sauté shallots and garlic in olive oil over medium heat, add a pinch of salt When softened add chopped pepper and broccoli Add another pinch or two of salt over vegetables, when vegetables have started cooking but are still firm, Use your hands to crumble/scramble tofu over vegetables Spread the following evenly over the tofu: tamari, ginger, cayenne, turmeric, basil, Italian seasoning Stir spices, vegetables, and tofu until evenly distributed Let it simmer for a few minutes, then place arugula over the top and place a lid over the pan When arugula has wilted stir it in Your tofu is ready to serve 4
5 RECIPES Spicy Bean & Veggie Bake What you ll need: In a bowl combine and stir: 3 cups of cooked beans (any combination of black, pinto & black eye peas) Paprika to taste a dash of cayenne 2 cloves of garlic, crushed unrefined sea salt to taste powdered ginger to taste In a separate bowl combine and stir: 3 cups of steamed veggies (an assortment of your favourites...be sure they are colorful, it helps to ensure a variety of nutrients). the juice of half a lemon 1 tbsp of olive oil 1 clove of crushed garlic a pinch or two of unrefined sea salt season to taste with rosemary & thyme In a casserole dish, alternate layers of beans and veggies. Sprinkle soy cheese on top and bake at 350 F for about 45 minutes. Broil for a minute or so at the end for a crispy, browned top. 5
