These are the connections you ll need to make to get started: Aerial connection receives digital TV signal from aerial HDMI connection high definition connection from YouView box to the TV Ethernet connection connects YouView box to the internet for access to On Demand and Catch Up services* Power supply Power cable attached * Please note: watching On Demand and Catch Up TV will count towards any monthly broadband data allowance you may have, please check with your broadband provider 05
Step one Connect to the aerial with the aerial cable Aerial cable (not supplied) 06
Use an existing aerial cable to connect your YouView box to an aerial wall socket 07
Step two Connect to the TV with the HDMI cable HDMI cable 08
AUDIO AERIAL IN SCART Back of TV Important: if your TV is an analogue set you will need to connect your YouView box using the scart ports and the scart cable 09
Step three Option one connect to the router with the ethernet cable Ethernet cable 10
Connect the ethernet cable to an available connection on your broadband router ON OFF LAN LAN LAN POWER Modem or internet router Please note: if your router is more than 2 metres away from your box you may want to connect using a longer ethernet cable. If your router is in a different room you may want to connect using powerline adapters please turn over for details on how to do this 11
Step three Option two connect to the router using powerline adapters 12 Ethernet cable to YouView box Powerline adapter (not supplied)
Please note: Powerline adapters can be purchased from an electrical retailer. Please follow the manufacturer s guidelines when installing Ethernet cable to an available connection on your broadband router ON OFF LAN LAN LAN POWER Modem or internet router Broadband signal transmitted through home wiring 13
Step four Plug cable in and switch on Power cable 14
Mains electricity socket Switch the box on using the ON/OFF switch at the back. To control your YouView box press the PVR button at the top of the remote first and then press the Standby button 15
On screen set up Checklist Double check the router is working and all cables are correctly connected to your YouView box Switch on your TV, choose source or input on your TV remote control and select the HDMI* option which matches the port number on the back of your TV The box will need 2 minutes to get to the first screen shown on the right Follow the on screen instructions using the arrow keys to move the blue highlight, to tune your TV and radio channels and to connect your box to the internet *Select AV input if connected via scart cable. 16
