The aim of this one-day course is to explore the complex factors which will affect the decision to undertake a development. By the end of this course you will understand the prevalence of risk in property development; how to identify specific risks in the development process; the time value of money and the valuation principles influencing property development decisions. This three-day course is aimed at those people who would benefit from a more developed understanding of the complexities of property development in Australia. PRE-REQUISITE: Participants need to have completed the Property Development Introduction course or have sufficient industry experience. The aim of this course is to examine the key factors which will impact the success of a project using a development case study. By the end of the course, participants will have a thorough understanding of the property investment, development and construction industry and what is required to undertake a development. The objectives are to understand the necessity for identifying, measuring and pricing development risk; work within a group on a factual case study to experience how a major property development project is conceived and planned, and prepare and deliver the case study development proposal to the board. ELECTIVE 1: FEASIBILITY WORKSHOP Realise the value of your land or asset This one-day course explores the key issues in developing a feasibility model. The Feasibility Workshop will help you realise the value of your land or asset. It looks at the viability of a proposed development/redevelopment and attempts to answer one main question: will the development work and should you proceed with it? By the end of this course you will understand the feasibility process, have the skills to run a feasibility model and understand the importance of validating inputs and assumptions. The objectives are to understand why some property development projects fail, explore market cycles and the importance of timing for a project, and uncover strategies for managing risk.
