BUILDING CAP S TEAM... FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW MARC and Unmanned Aerial Systems LtCol Randall Carlson AEO
CAP - MARC The Goals: To find constructive ways to nurture an interest in model aircraft aviation in local communities that youth can actively participate in. To encourage AMA clubs and CAP squadrons to work together to promote participation in aviation. To work with the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) to make the AMA Take Off And Grow (TAG) program, a collaborative effort. To encourage CAP membership to make MARC a part of their units AE, CP and ES programs.
CAP - MARC The Objective: To make aerospace education at the unit level more dynamic by providing a CAP Unit Commander and Aerospace Education Officer (AEO) with a broad encompassing model aircraft program for unit cadets and senior members.
Program History The MARC program grew from a need within CAP/AE to offer aero modeling to both cadet and senior members. MOU signed creating partnership between CAP and AMA. Free AMA memberships for cadets up to age 19 years. 2011 the MARC CD was developed for all CAP members to have for unit and personal use. The NCSA RC Flight Academy program began in 2012 at the suggestion of the CAP Commander

MARC CD The Program: 5. How to build flying model airplanes: Examples of how to from some of the best builders in the hobby Step-by-step written instructions Step-by step photo lessons How to build model airplanes of different construction: Paper Balsa wood Stick and tissue Lists of needed tools and materials needed Hints and tips from the pros
MARC CD 6. Plans for many different types of flying model aircraft: Owners/editors have given to CAP their plans freely for our use. Simply print the plans and instructions, buy balsa wood and build some model airplanes that are 4 to 60 years old. Simple Rubber band motor Denny Dart Mk III No-CAL rubber band powered profile airplanes Paper and card model airplane plans Model Airplane News 1935 1945 Plans w/ instructions Flying Aces Magazine 1930 1945 Plans w/ instructions Bill Hannan Master model builder plans No-CAL
CD The Program: Building a flying model from start to finish For the beginner in model aircraft building, sometimes the plans are not enough. They appear written in another language, or just do not make any sense. We have all been to this place, and it is frustrating. Many times, pictures or photos are worth more than all the written words in front of us.
