ITranslate4.EU SDL Trados Studio Plugin Configuration and Usage
1. Installing the Plugin WARNING! In order to install the Plugin, Trados Studio and SDL services are to be closed and stopped. After installation do not forget to restart the Services. To install the Plugin double click on the Installer file for the installer to start. Follow the instruction of the installer. On Windows 7 and Windows Vista, the operating system might prompt for confirmation of the installation. Answer with yes.
2. First step of translating a document On the Home screen of SDL Trados Studio, by clicking on the Open Document button, a window will be presented to the user. In order to utilize the ITranslate.eu translation memory, it has to be added to the list of translation memories. (Demonstrated on the screenshot).
3. First time use of the Plugin When the Plugin detects that it is being ran for the first time, it will guide the user through it's configuration with a simple 2 step wizard. On the first window of the Configuration Wizard, simply click on the Next Step button.
4. Specify the API Key The second step of the configuration wizard is where the user needs to input his or her API Key. That API Key will be used by the Plugin to communicate with the ITranslate.eu services. Click on the Finish the config to close the window and finish the configuration of the plugin.
5. Translation settings Once the configuration of the Plugin is done, the user is to select the source and target languages (only if there are multiple language pairs available for the given document) for which the Plugin will download a list of translation providers that is available to ITranslate. For that language pair the selected providers will be used by the Plugin to conduct the translation.
6. Available translation programs By selecting the translation programs for ITranslate and adding them to the right box, the selected translation programs will be used to offer translations for the segments of the document. If more than one programs are selected, alternative translations will also be provided. Click on button Use these settings to start editing of the document.
7. Translation (Editor) Window In the editor window, for each alternative translation, the program is also shown. This way the user can easily differentiate between programs and select the ones that give the highest translation quality for the given source and target languages.
Changing the API Key The easiest way to change the API Key can be done through these steps: 1. On the Home Screen click on the button Open Document 2. Select any file, as if it was to be translated 1. If the list of translation memories already shows ITranslate based translation provider, select if by left clicking on it and hit on the Remove button to remove it from the list. 3. Add the ITranslate4 based translation provider to the list of translation memories as shown in the third step in order to get to the configuration window (shown on the screenshot of the 6 th step). 4. Click on the button Change API gombra. At this point the user will be presented with the configuration window shown on the 4 th step
1. Click Next 2. Enter your new API Key in the Your API Key field 3. Click on the button Finish the config. At this point the configuration window will close and your new API Key is being utilized. 5. Click on button Cancel of the Open Document window. It is not necessary to translate the document.
Uninstalling the plugin At the Start menu, open All Programs, then SDL/SDL Trados Studio 2011/OpenExchange Apps/iTranslate4. You will find there an Uninstall.exe, click on it and it removes all the plugin files. If you are using Trados Studio 2009, you can find the Uninstall.exe under SDL/SDL Trados Studio 2009/OpenExchange Apps/iTranslate4.
