Whether we re partnering an in-house project or a green-field development, our objective is to take as much of the strain as possible off of our customer. From procurement and production to distribution and beyond we cover the entire value-added chain. For this reason, the spare parts business, too, is included in our primary range of services on offer. Overall, our customers profit in two ways from our service portfolio. First, on account of our years of experience, which enables us to deliver efficient solutions in a variety of logistical settings. Second, our top engineering and continuous approach to process improvement, which guarantee the longterm efficiency of our solutions. GENERATING ADDED VALUE Our active development of integrated process solutions that deliver longterm efficiency is reflected in high levels of customer satisfaction. »If a customer s production is halted, we have failed.«mathias Marciniak Cologne Branch Manager RELIABLE SUPPLY SERVICES: PROCUREMENT AND PRODUCTION LOGISTICS Supplying production lines is one of our core competencies. We provide services of this kind in a wide range of industrial environments, for instance in the aviation and automotive sectors. We keep small and medium-sized companies as well as major concerns supplied with production materials. We take charge of the inbound management, storage, picking and staging as well as the delivery, from start to production line. Our service range is as varied as our customers production processes. We supply exactly what is required on time and in the correct quantity. Our customers output rates are maintained at optimum levels no matter whether they re building cars on assembly lines, or aircraft at production islands. DELIVERING ON TIME: DISTRIBUTION AND SPARE PARTS LOGISTICS Flexibility and fast performance are our top priorities when we are called in to set up distribution centres or spare parts warehouses. In spare parts, guaranteeing permanent availability is absolutely essential, as levels of demand are constantly changing. As a result, the storage system and the relevant IT systems have to meet high requirements. Big replenishment orders as well as small emergency deliveries have to be handled reliably and efficiently. This means setting in place systems and processes which can deal with fluctuating levels of priority. 7
»Because our engineers have a thorough grasp of all the relevant logistical disciplines, we can offer our customers unsurpassed levels of expertise and professionalism.«hergen Tönnies National Manager Contract Logistics Project Management PROFESSIONAL PLANNING Technical and material flow planning is the heart of our concept. Thanks to our tailor-made solutions, our customers enjoy success long after plans have been implemented. Our experts have an in-depth and detailed understanding of conveyor systems, warehousing technologies and construction techniques. Our customers can therefore be confident that, when it comes to technical sophistication, efficiency and flexibility, our concepts are second to none. The cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency of logistical solutions depend in large measure on the implementation of a suitable IT infrastructure and, in particular, on the quality of the warehouse management system that is in place. That s why we do not commit to just one IT system. Instead, we prefer to select from among a number of modules. Work processes can be extremely complex and often require a high degree of automation. They may have to be performed quickly and flexibly, or they may be smallscale and require a custom finish. With our IT philosophy, our customers can be sure that the solutions we propose will meet their requirements exactly. We also set great store on the transparency of our proposals. We want our customers to understand exactly what we are recommending, so that all the parties who will be using the new system can draw maximum benefit from it. As we are a company with profound knowledge, many of our customers call on us to serve as consultants and project planners. We reward them for their trust with solutions that, as well as looking good on paper, actually work in practice and ideally will be operated by us. 8 9
SECURE START-UPS Total transparency during the planning stage is extremely important to our customers. So too are implementing proposed solutions on time and bringing new facilities into operation without any problems. Our success can be attributed to two decades of experience in this field. Over the years, we have fine-tuned our procedures for devising, optimising and evaluating logistical processes for a wide range of industrial settings. We know how to install systems in such a way that they can be easily and quickly started. Our early warning systems are already up and running during the planning phase. They enable us to identify weak points and to eliminate potential risks at a very early stage. As well as executing all construction work and installing IT infrastructures and other technically advanced systems to the highest professional standards, we also make sure that robust operational arrangements are set in place. We use our Customer Transition and Integration (CTI) tools to ensure nothing is forgotten. Work processes and areas of responsibility are defined in close consultation with the customer, while new operating routines are fine-tuned. Of course, our customer s wheels continue to turn during the implementation phase. Therefore, it is critically important that all involved understand the tasks they have been given and that the plan remains transparent for everyone. For this reason, we pay close attention to quality assurance, health, workplace safety and environmental protection measures throughout the entire lifetime of the project.»if everyone knows what to do and sticks to his or her task, a flawless start-up phase should not be a problem.«continuous OPTIMISATION Our project management is centrally positioned and organised. This has resulted in unusually high transfer rates of knowledge, both internal and external. At our head office in Bremen, we develop highly efficient concepts and solutions. During realisation of the different projects, our teams gain valuable know-how which is frequently used in follow-up projects. Naturally, projects that are already up and running benefit from our CIP (Continuous Improvement Process) procedures, and are regularly improved: OPTIMIST is the name of our CIP programme, which is designed to ensure that the potential of the staff at our various facilities is fully and continuously developed. Ideas are gathered, implemented and then placed at the disposal of our customers at other locations as best practice. Our Reengineering and Operational Excellence divisions perform systematic top down analyses of the processes we use to identify potential for optimisation. Their findings often lead to considerable savings for our customers. The use of our own production systems guarantees that our handling of projects always lives up to our customers expectations as regards lean. Frequently, we find ourselves striking out along paths that no other company has trodden. Our customers clearly approve of our approach in many cases, they form partnerships with us that develop and mature over periods of several years or even decades.
