SPA 1 Spring 09 (Jiménez-Díaz) 4 MORE ABOU HE COURSE & INFORMAION ON HELPFUL RESOURCES his course is based on the philosophy that students (and my) class time is best spent using Spanish, that is, listening to and speaking with me and your classmates, listening to and viewing a variety of audiovisual materials and reading. For that reason, you are expected to read the selfexplanatory grammar explanations as well as to complete follow-up exercises in the workbook. I will gladly answer questions about the assignments in class, but I will spend the majority of the class time providing you with activities through which you can practice what you have read and learned, and with opportunities to use the language in meaningful ways. You can best learn Spanish by coming to class on a regular basis and by being actively involved in classroom activities. You are not expected to speak perfect Spanish, so don't be afraid to open you mouth and make mistakes!
