SECTION A: FASGOV /FAIGOV SOFTWARE INSTALLATION CHECKLIST FASgov /FAIgov Software Installation Checklist WE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOUR LOCAL TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST INSTALL THE FASgov AND FAIgov SOFTWARE. NOTE: These steps must be completed in the order they are provided. If you need assistance in completing these steps, please refer to Section L: Contacting the Technology Services Help Desk for instructions. STEP ACTION SECTION/ PAGE BEFORE YOU BEGIN 1 Print and review this document in its entirety. NOTE: Install the FASgov software using these instructions only. Do not follow the instructions provided in the online installation guide. Do not install the software using the defaulted information. 2 At the PCGenesis server: Verify the K:\ drive has a minimum of 2 GB of free space. 3 From the District Number s Database, write down the installation serial and license numbers in the space below: Installation Serial Number: Installation License Number: NOTE: The Web link to the District Number s Database was emailed to PCGenesis Superintendents, PCGenesis System Administrators, and Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) Directors on May 28, 2002. 4 Obtain your Administrator s logon ID for the PCGenesis server or ensure your Administrator is available to enter this information when needed. Do not begin the installation process before obtaining this information or contacting your Administrator. 5 Verify with your Technology Specialist that your server has a static IP address. NOTE: Please refer to Section L: Contacting the Technology Services Help Desk if your server does not have a static IP address. You must follow separate software installation instructions if this is the case. INSTALLING THE FASGOV SOFTWARE ON THE SERVER N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A 6 Verify all users are logged off the PCGenesis server AND out of PCGenesis. SECTION B: INSTALLING THE FASGOV SOFTWARE ON THE SERVER CAUTION: DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE ONLINE INSTALLATION GUIDE. DO NOT INSTALL USING THE DEFAULTED INFORMATION. VERIFY ALL USERS ARE LOGGED OFF THE SERVER AND OUT OF PCGENESIS BEFORE CONTINUING! B.1. VERIFYING THE SERVER S FREE SPACE 1) Using Windows Explorer, verify there is at minimum, 1.3 GB of free space available. NOTE: If you do not have at least 1 GB of free space available, do not continue processing! Please refer to Section L: Contacting the Technology Services Help Desk for instructions on requesting assistance. B.2. INSTALLING THE FASGOV SOFTWARE 1) Verify all users are logged off the server and out of PCGenesis. 2) Insert the FASgov CD into the PCGenesis server s CD drive. NOTE: If the Welcome to FASgov screen appears, proceed to Step 4. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 5 of 58

3) Within Windows Explorer, select the CD drive. 4) Double-click the DEMO32.EXE file icon. NOTE: If the Welcome to FASgov screen is not displayed, please refer to Section L: Contacting the Technology Services Help Desk for instructions on requesting assistance. 5) Do not select the Review Documentation option displaying the README files. Information pertaining to the README files was included in these instructions. Click only ONCE here! 6) Click ONCE on the Install FAS gov Asset Accounting option. The InstallShield Wizard will start. NOTE: DO NOT DOUBLE-CLICK on the Install FAS gov Asset Accounting option. Double-clicking on this option causes the system to launch the software installation twice and results in error messages. 7) When the Question dialog box is displayed, click No. This warning does not apply to the initial installation of the FASgov application. 8) Click Next. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 7 of 58

9) Verify the information on the License Agreement screen. You must accept the License Agreement to continue. Click Yes. 10) Click No. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 8 of 58

11) Click Browse. NOTE: DO NOT ACCEPT the defaulted location when prompted. You must navigate to the correct location by selecting the Browse option. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 9 of 58

12) Type K:\BESTSERV in the Path field and click OK. NOTE: Your destination will change to K:\BESTSERV. If the destination did not change to this location, or if you received an error message, try retyping the entry and clicking OK. If the problem continues, please refer to Section L: Contacting the Technology Services Help Desk for instructions on requesting assistance. DO NOT CONTINUE! 13) Verify K:\BESTSERV is indicated as the Destination Folder and click Next. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 10 of 58

DO NOT CHANGE ENTRIES! 14) DO NOT MODIFY the entries in the Database Engine Name or the System Database Location fields. Click on the Drop-down selection icon in the Protocol used field and select all (All network protocols). 15) Click Next. 16) Click Next. The installation of the FASgov files will begin. 18) Click once on the Install FAS gov Asset Inventory option. NOTE: Screens similar to those displayed when you selected the Install FASgov Asset Accounting option earlier will be redisplayed. 19) When the Question dialog box is displayed, click No. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 13 of 58

SECTION C: INSTALLING THE GDOE PRECONFIGURED DATABASE 1) At the PCGenesis server, copy the appropriate files from the FASgov CD.. a) Start Windows Explorer and navigate to the CD drive. b) Open the GDOE folder and click once in the right window. c) From the Menu Bar, select Edit Select All. d) From the Menu Bar, select Edit Copy. e) Copy the selected files to the BESTSERV directory. Navigate to the K:\BESTSERV folder. Open the K:\BESTSERV folder and click in the right window. From the Menu Bar, select Edit Paste. Click Yes each time you are prompted to overwrite a read-only file or select Yes to All. f) Open the Import folder on the CD and click once on this folder. g) Using the Menu options, select Edit Select All and Edit Copy to copy the contents of the folder. h) Navigate to the K:\BESTSERV folder within the left portion of the window and click once on the folder. i) Using the Menu options, select File New Folder. j) Rename the New Folder to Import. k) Double-click on the Import folder to open the folder. l) From the Menu, select Edit Paste. NOTE: The three (3) files copied from the CD will be copied into the Import folder. m) On the CD, double-click on the GDOE Reports folder. Click once in this folder. n) Using the Menu options, select Edit Select All and Edit Copy to copy the contents of the folder. o) Within the left portion of the window, navigate to the K:\BESTSERV folder and click once on the folder. p) Using the Menu options, select File New Folder. q) Rename the New Folder to CUSTRPT. r) Navigate to the K:\BESTSERV\CUSTRPT folder in the left portion of the window. Double-click on this folder. s) Using the Menu options, click Edit Paste. NOTE: The eight (8) report files from the CD will be copied into the K:\BESTSERV\CUSTRPT folder. t) Remove the FASgov CD and store it in a secure location. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 19 of 58

SECTION D: CONFIGURING THE SYBASE DATABASE SERVER PROCESS 1) AT THE PCGENESIS SERVER: Select Start Programs Best Software Sybase SQL Service Manager. 2) Click New. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 20 of 58

3) Verify the Network Server option is selected and click OK. Third Parameter Second and Fourth Parameter 4) Within the Edit SQL Anywhere window, enter the parameters exactly as shown: Enter BestSoft_Net in the Service Name field. Enter the parameters as shown in the screenshot example. NOTE: The third parameter -tl contains the letter t and the letter l and is not the letter t and the number 1 (one). The second and fourth parameters are zero (0), not the letter O. The entire parameter string is -ti 0 -tl 0 -gp 2048 -c 10240k -n BestSoft_Net. Verify the (Startup) Automatic option is selected. 5) Click Path. 6) When the dialog box is displayed, change the path to K:\BESTSERV\COMMON\DBSRV50.EXE. 7) Click OK. 8) Click Account. 9) Verify Other Account is selected. 10) Enter your system administrator s ID in the Other Account field. NOTE: The entry for this field is usually administrator. 11) Enter your password in the Password and Confirm Password fields and click OK. NOTE: These entries must match exactly and are case-sensitive. 12) Click OK. NOTE: The warning message within the dialog box will be addressed in Section E: Granting the Administrator s User ID Log On As A Service Rights. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 22 of 58

13) Click OK. 14) Click Close. NOTE: The SQL Anywhere Server Configuration window will be fully configured. If changes are made to the remaining fields within the SQL Anywhere Server Configuration window after entering the Logon information, for security purposes, the password is cleared. In this instance, you must click Account and reenter the password in the Logon information or the server process will not start. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 23 of 58

SECTION E: GRANTING THE ADMINISTRATOR S USER ID LOG ON AS A SERVICE RIGHTS 1) To run the Windows User Manager for Domains Utility, select Start Programs Administrative Tools User Manager for Domains. 2) Double-click on the Administrators group to open the Local Group Properties window. 3) Verify the user ID entered in the SQL Anywhere Configuration steps is listed. NOTE: Please refer to Section D: Configuring The Sybase Database Server Process, Steps 8 10 for detailed procedures. If the user ID is not listed, verify your entry with your system s Network Administrator. If the issue cannot be resolved, please refer to Section L: Contacting the Technology Services Help Desk for instructions on requesting assistance. 4) Click Cancel. 5) When the User Manager window is redisplayed, select Policies User Rights. 6) Verify the Show Advanced User Rights option is selected. NOTE: The Show Advanced User Rights option must be selected for the Log on as a service option to be available for selection in Step 7. 7) Click on the Drop-down selection icon in the Right field and select Log on as a service. NOTE: If the Log on as a service option is not listed, please refer to Step 6. Click once here. 8) Click once in the Grant To area and click Add. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 26 of 58

9) Select the Administrators group and click Add. NOTE: If the PCGenesis server i.e., \\DOE-GE2, is not a part of your normal domain, please contact your local Technology Specialist for assistance. The group selected will appear in the Add Names and in the Grant To area when the User Rights Policy dialog box is displayed. 10) Click OK. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 27 of 58

SECTION F: STARTING THE SQL ANYWHERE SERVICE 1) Select Start Programs Best Software Sybase SQL Service Manager. 2) Click Start. NOTE: Processing Status messages will be displayed. 3) When the message Service started successfully is displayed, click Close. NOTE: If you receive an error message indicating the service could not be started, print the error message screen, and refer to Section L: Contacting the Technology Services Help Desk for instructions on requesting assistance. SECTION G: PREPARING TO INSTALL THE FASGOV WORKSTATION SOFTWARE IMPORTANT INFORMATION The workstation installation process will vary depending on whether the workstation is running Windows 98 or Windows 2000. Although the software will run on Windows XP and Windows NT workstations, the (GDOE) is not prepared to support these platforms. FASgov is licensed for each system to have one concurrent user. To allow multiple users access to the FASgov application, the software can be installed on each user s workstation. FASgov includes an integrated version of Crystal Reports Version 8.0. The FASgov version has been slightly modified from your GDOE-provided version. Because the GDOE-provided version of Crystal Reports will not function properly with FASgov, it must be uninstalled before you are able to install the FASgov software. The workstation on which the FASgov application will be installed requires at minimum 1.3 GB of free space. Procedures for determining if your workstation contains the required amount of space have been included within this document. If you have less than 1.3 GB of free space available on the workstation, you must free up the additional space before continuing. G.1. VERIFY DRIVE LETTER K: IS MAPPED TO THE PCGENESIS SERVER 1) On the workstation: Use Windows Explorer to verify you have drive letter K: mapped to the PCGenesis server. 2) Exit from all open programs except Windows Explorer. 3) Uninstall Crystal Reports using the following procedures. G.2. UNINSTALLING CRYSTAL REPORTS 1) Select Start Settings Control Panel. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 31 of 58

2) Click on Add/Remove Programs. 3) Scroll through the list to find Seagate Crystal Reports, and click on it once to highlight your selection. 4) Click on Add/Remove. When prompted to do so, confirm you want to uninstall the program. The uninstall procedure will run. 5) When the process is complete, exit the Add/Remove Programs and the Control Panel windows. G.3. VERIFYING THE WORKSTATION S FREE SPACE Verify there is at minimum 1.3 GB of free space available on the workstation by following these procedures. 1) Within the Windows Explorer window, click on the (C:) drive. 2) Right-click on the (C:) drive and select Properties. 3) Verify there is at least 1.3 GB of free space available on the workstation. NOTE: If you do not have at least 1.3 GB of free space available, you may experience operational problems. Contact your local Technology Specialist for advice on purging files from your workstation. 4) Close the Properties window before continuing. August 30, 2003 10:20 AM Page 34 of 58

SECTION H: INSTALLING THE FASGOV (ASSET ACCOUNTING) SOFTWARE ON THE WORKSTATION H.1. INSTALLING THE FASGOV ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE 1) Click on the K:\ drive and open the BESTSERV folder. 2) Open the FASgov subfolder and double-click Setup.exe.
