Made in America since 1939!
Strataflo Products began in 1939 as White Machine Works, founded by Starley M. White. The first products manufactured were valves for US Navy submarines. Not long after, Vernon L. Tannehill joined Starley White to develop a line of check valves, foot valves, pump strainers, well screens and well seals under the brand name Strateflo. In December of 1941, the name was changed to Strataflo due to a name conflict. The Strataflo valves were known for their famous rubber poppet, being leak-proof. Their design on the rubber poppet was unique to the industry and earned the respect of pump manufacturers and professionals in the well industry. This design, the same as is used today, featured a cone-shaped rubber head that was molded over a steel insert. The strength of the steel insert provided rigidity and durability, while the molded rubber gave a leak-proof seal. In addition to the standard rubber poppet, Strataflo patented a metal poppet design for use with a metal-to-metal seal. These stainless steel poppets were precisely machined for a tight seal and used in oil, gas, and steam applications. Strataflo has long had a reputation for quality, ever since the first products were developed. Strataflo supplied the well industry with many types of standard products, including yard and wall hydrants, pond screens, pump strainers, well packers and adapters for over 40 years. Strataflo eventually discontinued the well supply products to focus on its industrial check and foot valve lines. While the check and foot valves are still used in the well, plumbing and irrigation industries, they have gained great acceptance in industrial markets, being used by equipment manufacturers of all types. Strataflo valves are used in diesel engines, rail cars, heavy construction equipment, restaurant food fryers, commercial dishwashers, fire suppression equipment, yachts, racing boats, offshore oil rigs, water softeners, fire trucks, rescue equipment, military vehicles, car wash equipment, and the list continues. The reason Strataflo is used in both plumbing and industrial industries today is because of the quality advantage developed in 1939. The Strataflo poppet design has a clear quality advantage over traditional seals, which is why the design has never changed. Today, Strataflo uses modern manufacturing equipment and processes to continue its tradition of excellence. With each valve still individually tested, our customers are guaranteed quality; and when our customers reputations are at stake, Strataflo is the only choice. Quality Policy Through our commitment to growth and continuous improvement, we will provide service excellence while manufacturing superior products that exceed the quality expectations of our customers. Statement of Quality and Testing We are dedicated to manufacturing high quality, American-made products. We use a one-piece cast brass body, along with the highest quality internal components to endure the challenges of industrial use. The Buna-S (SBR) rubber poppet is fully-formed around a solid steel insert to provide for greater strength in commercial applications. Each valve is tested twice for casting integrity and backflow prevention. All valves are 100% American-Made and built to last. Used for irrigation and potable/ non-potable water applications. Agriculture Equipment Carwash Equipment Construction Diesel Engines Diesel Generators Food Equipment Heavy Machinery Irrigation Marine Military Oil and Gas Plumbing Pump Systems Railroad Rescue Equipment Steam Boilers Water Softeners Well Drilling Our markets While the check and foot valves are still used in the well, plumbing and irrigation industries, they have gained great acceptance in industrial markets, being used by equipment manufacturers of all types. Strataflo valves are used in diesel engines, rail cars, heavy construction equipment, restaurant food fryers, commercial dishwashers, fire suppression equipment, yachts, racing boats, off-shore oil rigs, water softeners, fire trucks, rescue equipment, military vehicles, car wash equipment, and the list continues. DESIGN Custom valves Using our 3D modeling software, we can import 2D drawings and 3D models in order to fully evaluate your custom valve project. Each custom valve opportunity is reviewed for manufacturing feasibility, volume, and final application liability. We will generally only review projects for valves that have already been designed and engineered, as we do not provide engineering services for valve concepts. This being said, we may need to suggest modifications to a design to either facilitate our manufacturing systems or greater functionality. CAPABILITIES Our valves are manufactured with a high standard of quality, and we apply that same philosophy towards any custom project. With the value added services noted below, we can create or manufacture a solution that best meets your needs. Contact us via phone, email or our website regarding your custom project. We will review your opportunity promptly. SIZE RANGE - We machine all of our valves using CNC Lathes, as well as a variety of other metal-working equipment. For in-house machining, we can facilitate outside diameters between 1 and 5. BODY MATERIALS - We machine valves from various brass alloys (C84400, C83450, and C89833); however we do have access to most brass alloys through our foundry suppliers. There are other foundry options if stainless steel, ductile iron, aluminum or plastic are required. SEALING MATERIALS - Our standard line of valves is offered with Buna-S, Buna-N, EPDM, Viton, Neoprene, and Stainless Steel sealing materials. We do have the ability to offer other compounds, such as Viton and high-temp Nitrile. CRACKING PRESSURE - Our standard springs have a cracking pressure between 1-2 lb. We do have offer 1/2#, 5# and 10# springs in varying sizes, and we have the ability to make custom springs. LOCKING NUTS - Each standard valve comes with a specific locknut, designed to best match the poppet style. Valves can be custom fitted with other styles or combinations of locking nuts than our standard design. VALVE BODY MODIFICATIONS - There is some flexibility in how the outside of our valves can be machined. If modifications to the valve body cannot be achieved with our standard design, we can offer custom body styles that would incorporate our high quality internal design with a specific body design that best fits a specific application. CUSTOM MACHINED PRODUCTS - With our expertise in machining, we can also consider projects to manufacture and machine other types of metal parts, not just valves.
