2 In-Weg Internal Joint Sealing Creamer In-Weg seals are designed for the internal sealing of leaking pipe joints or cracks in all types of pipe materials, including cast iron, ductile iron, concrete, reinforced concrete, steel, vitrified clay and plastic piping systems having pipe diameters of 16 inches or larger. Creamer In-Weg seals permanently eliminate leaks at internal pressures up to 300 psi. Excavations for access can be as much as 5,000 feet apart, causing very little disruption to traffic and greatly reducing restoration cost. Creamer In-Weg seals offer an economical and trenchless alternative to conventional repair methods. Manufactured in the USA, over 50,000 seals have been successfully fitted worldwide. Creamer In-Weg seal incorporates three lip seals on each outer edge which completely seal the circumference of the pipe on either side of the leaking joint or crack. The flexibility of the Creamer In-Weg seal ensures a bottle-tight seal around the entire pipe joint, while its low profile and graded edge allow the product to flow without creating noticeable turbulence. A range of Creamer In-Weg seal widths are available for use on a variety of joint gaps. The seals are locked into place by carbon steel, stainless steel or composite retaining bands depending on the application. Creamer In-Weg seals can also be used in conjunction with specially manufactured sleeves to permanently repair longer cracks, pipe reducer fittings, complete pipe lengths or even seal off abandoned branches and service connections. Creamer trained and certified installation technicians perform all work in strict accordance with O.S.H.A. standards for confined space entry.

3 In-Weg Applications Water/Waste Water A non-toxic EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) synthetic rubber compound is used to manufacture seals for potable water, raw water and sewage pipe applications. Carbon steel retaining bands are made of the appropriate alloy for each particular application. Industrial Applications Seals designed for use in industrial pipe lines are manufactured from the appropriate rubber compound to insure chemical and corrosive resistance. The retaining bands can be made from any appropriate metal alloy or composite material. Creamer engineers can help choose the correct materials for use in any industrial application.

4 Installation Procedure The joint area is cleaned and prepared prior to the installation of the seal. This may be achieved by using a variety of hand or pneumatic tools. A non-toxic lubricating soap is applied and the seal is carefully positioned with its retaining band. An expansion ring is placed over each retaining band and pressure is applied radially. A correctly sized wedge is inserted between the band ends to keep a permanent compressive force on the seal. Each seal is leak tested twice before the main is put back into service. The completed seal provides a permanent solution to leaking pipe problems. A completion report is supplied detailing the type and location of each seal and any other repair carried out in the pipe.
