STUDIO TO TRANSMITTER LINKS Tieline Studio-to-Transmitter Link (STL) codecs are designed for continuous operation over mission critical point-to-point audio paths throughout broadcast IP networks. BRIDGE-IT AND BRIDGE-IT XTRA IP AUDIO CODECS Bridge-IT (Basic and Pro options) and Bridge-IT XTRA are the ultimate affordable, high-performance, stereo IP audio codecs which can be used over a range of wired and wireless* IP data networks. COMMANDER G3 RACK MOUNT X.21 STL LINKS X.21 is a protocol that runs over Telco leased line subscriber networks. It is an ITU-T data interface standard for connecting a DTE (Tieline codec) to a DCE (terminal adapter) and transferring synchronous serial data. Tieline X.21 modules use a D-15 connector and can facilitate a full duplex connection with data rates from between 9.6Kbps to 2 megabits. Figure 4: Commander G3 Connecting over X.21 Page 6

MULTICASTING WITH GENIE DISTRIBUTION Genie Distribution can operate in multicast server mode and distribute stereo audio to unlimited endpoints over compatible IP networks. BRIDGE-IT PRO AND BRIDGE-IT XTRA AUDIO DISTRIBUTION SOLUTIONS MULTI-UNICASTING WITH BRIDGE-IT PRO AND BRIDGE-IT XTRA Bridge-IT Pro and Bridge-IT XTRA are capable of distributing a stereo IP audio stream to up to 6 individual multi-unicast end-points. MERLIN IP AUDIO CODEC: 2 SIMULTANEOUS MONO REMOTES Merlin lets you create two simultaneous mono peer-to-peer bidirectional audio stream connections with different codecs or smartphones using the Report-IT IP codec app. This is similar to a 'Dual Mono' profile in G3 Tieline codecs. COMMANDER G3 FIELD CODEC AND I-MIX G3: DESKTOP REMOTES Tieline Commander G3 and i-mix G3 audio codecs are among the world's most successful and widely used codecs for remote broadcasts. With two balanced inputs/outputs, the Commander G3 field IP audio codec is the ideal portable mixer and stereo IP codec for small remote broadcasts. The i-mix has 5 balanced inputs/outputs, an on-board PA control, dedicated Cue/Comms buttons for communications and a telephone coupler for managing live talkback callers. MONO OR STEREO REMOTE OVER 3G OR 4G WIRELESS NETWORKS The days of calling a Telco to install an ISDN or POTS line weeks in advance of a remote broadcast are over. Now with Tieline IP audio codecs you can deliver reliable FM quality radio broadcasts to your audience from wherever you can get a 3G or 4G cell-phone signal. Choose from Tieline s optional 3G UMTS/HSDPA or 3G EVDO modules, or the 4G USB module, and attach a supported 4G LTE modem to access higher bit rates and better audio quality for your remotes. Figure 21: 3G or 4G Wireless Connection REMOTE OVER 3G OR 4G WITH POTS CONNECTION BACKUP Commander G3 and i-mix G3 codecs can automatically fail over from a wired or wireless IP connection to either POTS or ISDN if required. Alternatively, you can broadcast over ISDN or POTS and use wired or wireless IP as a backup connection. Backup connections can run concurrently to deliver seamless audio fail over. Figure 22: Example of Wireless Connection with POTS Backup BONDED POTS OR ISDN FOR MONO OR STEREO REMOTES Merlin*, Merlin PLUS*, Commander G3 and i-mix G3 codecs have the ability to synchronize calls and create stereo connections over two analog telephone lines, or bond two connections to create higher bandwidth mono audio connections. You can also bond two or four ISDN B channels together to achieve greater bandwidth for a mono or stereo connection (Merlin, Merlin PLUS and Commander G3 only). Bonding 4 ISDN B channels can deliver 256Kbps for high quality MPEG algorithm connections. If the codecs detect multiple connections they will automatically be bonded to increase connection bandwidth. Page 17

MONO PROGRAM PLUS IFB The Mono/IFB profile in Commander G3 codecs supports two simultaneous audio paths, one for bidirectional mono program audio and one for bidirectional mono IFB communications. This profile is supported over IP and ISDN, POTS or X.21 using optional plug-in transport modules. DUAL MONO: TWO SIMULTANEOUS REMOTES USING A SINGLE STUDIO CODEC A Commander G3 rack mount codec at the studio can manage two simultaneous bidirectional mono remotes from Tieline IP codecs or smartphones using the Report-IT app. Connections can be a mix of IP, ISDN, POTS or X.21. Tieline s unique solutions include: Live broadcast quality mono or stereo FM quality audio using 64Kbps BGAN ISDN connections. DISASTER AUDIO BACKUP Locating a Bridge-IT codec at your transmitter allows announcers to connect from virtually anywhere using a cell phone with the Report-IT app to provide studio quality audio directly to the transmitter site. This audio can be automatically mixed in with a digital play out system located at the transmitter. When combined with a laptop capable of remotely controlling the play out system at the transmitter, a very powerful studio environment can be simulated from just about anywhere in the world for very little cost. REDUNDANCY REDUNDANT IP STREAMING Redundancy is critical for studio-to-transmitter links and other mission critical broadcast connections. Tieline codecs can offer redundancy via backup connections over connection transports such as IP, ISDN and POTS. In addition, Tieline s SmartStream PLUS has revolutionised IP broadcasting by delivering the rock solid and reliable STL-grade audio quality you would expect over a T1/E1 link by using inexpensive unmanaged IP networks like the internet for STLs, audio distribution and remotes. How is this possible? Connect two inexpensive IP links to codecs with SmartStream PLUS and stream simultaneous redundant data streams from dual Ethernet ports and deliver seamless redundancy when streaming over IP. WHEATNET-IP CODEC OPTIONS GENIE DISTRIBUTION WITH WHEATNET-IP Tieline s Genie Distribution with WheatNet-IP audio codec can seamlessly integrate multiple STLgrade IP audio streams between external IP networks and the WheatNet-IP environment. When connected to the WheatNet-IP Environment, routing of sources and destinations can be performed using Wheatstone's Navigator software. The codec is capable of being configured for 3 x stereo or 6 mono sources/destinations. Page 22
