start making pictures instead of just taking pictures Landscape Photography Workshops
The Idea The Clew Bay area around Louisburgh has so many amazing sceneries to offer for tourists and locals, especially for those who are interested in landscape photography. With today s camera technology many photography amateurs and enthusiasts are able to own a high quality DSLR or CSC camera, but are daunted by the sheer amount of buttons, modes and settings, so that most of them still use the auto mode and don t experience the true picture quality that can easily be achieved. Clew Bay Photography Courses are about improving your photography as well as getting out and about in stunning locations. I, Kerstin Hellmann, an experienced outdoor photographer, will be out shooting with you during the courses, helping you get the shots you re after and introducing you to new ways of mastering your camera. The workshops are targeted to the beginner who needs a helping hand in managing their camera and creating great photos, and the intermediate who is looking to refine their techniques. The Photographer After borrowing my dad s analogue SLR camera at the innocent age of just 12 years, I got addicted to capture landscapes I visited. During school and college I took several photo courses, both analogue and digital. In 2006, after graduating college with a BA in Graphic Design, I moved from Germany to Ireland. Here I really got into outdoor photography and deepened my photography knowledge before I went professional in 2010. Whenever I can I spend as much time as possible in Ireland s stunning countryside. This country is well known for a lot of rainfall, but between the showers we are blessed with lovely sunshine and stunning sunsets. Even if it looks dull all day, there s always some location to photograph. As long as it s not a constant downpour, the workshops will be held in any weather. The workshops are scheduled the way that the participants have enough opportunities to take pictures and learn the new camera techniques, even if the sun is hidden behind a thick cover of clouds. In fact, heavy clouds can even add a mysterious mood to the scene. There is no such thing like bad weather, just bad clothing! So don t forget to pack a good rain coat, waterproof walking boots and maybe a pair of waterproof pants. Wellies (rubber boots) can also be a good idea when we are shooting at the beach near the waterline. Remember, the North Atlantic can still be freezing cold during the summer. And don t forget about the wind! Here at the west coast of Ireland we experience some gaels and storms all year long. Again, this is no excuse to stay indoors. It s a possibility to witness great waves crashing onto cliffs or piers. Maybe just keep your umbrella in the car or you will need a new one shortly!
