January 3-6, 2016 Gothenburg, Sweden

Welcome to Gothia Innebandy Cup 2016 Since the start in 1994, Gothia Innebandy Cup has been an annual event in Gothenburg. The tournament has over the years grown from 135 to more than 450 participating teams each year, which makes us the world s biggest floorball tournament. One of the reasons of this success is the challenge for the teams in measuring their skills with other teams, mostly Swedish, but also from other major floorball nations. We emphasize the matches for each team as to maintaining a high quality of the event and as to providing each team with as many matches as possible. That is why we provide five-team groups. Our aim is that the players should feel the tickling stomach feeling before an important match and feel the joy of sharing it with their teammates, regardless the result in the match. Gothia Innebandy Cup creates for young people a rendezvous and brings progress as well as nice memories for life. Over the years, more than 6,500 teams and over 100 000 players from 15 different nations have participated in Gothia Innebandy Cup. In this brochure we want to give you as much information as possible about the Gothia Innebandy Cup s main values. We want in the most informative way possible describe to you how the tournament is organized and what you as a guest can expect during Gothia Innebandy Cup. For many young people and leaders it will be a great sports experience and then it s important to be well prepared. Welcome to Gothenburg Gothia Innebandy Cup 3-6 January 2016! Lena Rönnefors, Tornament Leader

The matches and playing courts The games are what makes the tournament develop and creates joy, excitement and the occasional tear. Without the games there will be no tournament and that is the reason why about 10 000 participants come here. The opportunity to meet talented teams from other nations is a chance for young people to develop, both on and off the playing courts. We want to create memories for the young people involved, memories that they will remember for the rest of their lives. Fair play is something we want to encourage. To behave fair with your team mates, the referees and the opponents. During the Gothia Cup more than 1300 games are played during four days. To accomplish this around 25 courts are required. These centres are located around Gothenburg and you can easily transport yourself between games with our own bus network Gothia Line, or with the Gothenburg public transport system. New! Groups of five New for 2016 is that all groups will consist of at least five teams. This means that all teams will be guaranteed a minimum of five games instead of four as previously. The extra game will be played during the tournament s first two days during the group stage. The first two teams in each group qualify to the A finals, and other teams will play the B finals. Goals in 2015: Goals per game: Played minutes: No. of playing courts: 8242 7 ave. 40 000 25

Gothia Innebandy Finals As the tournament goes on and if you are still competing, the closer comes The Big Final. Let us first clarify that all teams will play in some kind of play off. The two first placed teams in the group advance to the A-Play off while the others two go to B-Play off. Depending on how many teams there are in the age category, you might end up playing nearly 10 games before you reach all the way. The finals are played at Valhalla and Lisebergshallen during Wednesday. Age groups that have less number of teams get to play their finals first. Many of those teams that do not make it to the finals come to the court to watch the final in their age category. It gives a sense of how one stands in competition, and additionally it s a very nice way to end your team s Gothia Innebandy Cup adventure. Even if only 12 teams can call themselves champions, all participants are winners to us. Age categories G11 and B11 play under SIBF s (Swedish Floorball Association) regulations for these age categories, meaning that no play-off is applied. Therefore no finals will be played in these age categories. Transports If you choose to leave the car at home and want to get around to the courts, schools or hotels in the Gothia Innebandy Cup, there is a wide range of transport options. You can either take any of the 12 different tramlines, one of the approximately 200 bus routes or our own Gothia Line buses. Trams operate in most parts of the city and are well synchronised with the buses so it is easy to get around. To further facilitate travel for visitors, we have different routs of Gothia Line. We operate these routes where public transport can be difficult or time consuming for visitors to use. Event and Activities Gothenburg With more than 550,000 citizens, Gothenburg is Sweden s second largest city, but the city is Sweden s most popular city to live in. We are very proud of that. The closeness to the harbour and the sea is what people usually value highly. Everybody talks about the small big town where everything is close. Others appreciate the hospitality you meet wherever you go. Not forgetting the very typical Gothenburg humour. Gothenburg is one of Europe s foremost event cities. The city is used to host happenings and events and that also makes us use to taking care of visitors. You will most certainly feel welcome here. We want the Gothia Innebandy Cup to be a meeting place for the world s young floorball players. During the tournament great meetings are created during games, in schools and even spontaneous meetings out in the town and in the playing halls. It is these encounters that make the tournament an extraordinary experience. During the Gothia Innebandy Cup, we also want to create a social platform where everyone can come together and meet. Each year we therefore arrange different events and activities for all participants. In previous years we have organized opening ceremonies, discos and activity areas. We have also been in Liseberg s arcade hall and arranged national elite games as well as international. What this year s Gothia Cup will offer remains to be revealed, but we can guarantee that whatever we do it will create a social platform and activities where meetings and friendships are in focus.
