This is a sociable and fun week and a wonderful way to indulge in your passion while meeting up and making new friends. We have chosen the resort of Santa Susana because of its great weather, idyllic setting and sight-seeing opportunities. Your Destination, includes sightseeing Santa Susana is situated on the Costa Dorada, north of Barcelona. It is the ideal holiday location for those who are looking for a few days of fun and relaxation with sun, sand and sea. It enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate characterized by a clear, sharp atmosphere and skies of intense blue. All the workshops and evening dance sessions will take place within the hotel making everything very close to hand. Santa Susana has a pleasant, modern feel to it with atmospheric restaurants, bars and cafés, many places of amusement and claims to be one of the most interesting shopping areas on this coastline. The old village centre, situated slightly away from the beach, is a small nucleus of houses, squares, churches, hermitage, schoolhouse and chapels with the Font del Boter Park just behind it. This and the green expanse around Santa Susana make an enjoyable surrounding to the resort. Santa Susana's two kilometres of clean, sandy beach are conveniently located just a few metres from the hotel. There is an extensive range of water sports on offer - including windsurfing, waterskiing and even canoes. You are given an open itinerary so that at your choosing you can visit Calella, Malgrat de Mar and the city of Blanes which are all a short distance from Santa Susana.

Your Teachers Your host and instructor on this holiday will be Michelle Risley of Peace Train. As a family, the Risleys were looking for a hobby to do together so, in 1995, they went to a Line Dance class and they were all hooked. Quite quickly Michelle was asked to teach at a new local class. She discovered that she loved teaching and started her own club Peace-Train 16 years ago with (Mum) Kathy, (Dad) DJ Tony. Michelle is resident instructor for various events in the UK and also guest instructor at events in the UK and Europe. She has been honoured to be nominated for the last 4 years for the prestigious Linedancer Magazine s Crystal Boot Awards in several categories: Female Dance Personality, UK Instructor, UK Choreographer and various dances. Michelle s well known dances include Full House (The Gambler), Smile, Write Your Number, Play On and The Wanderer. Food and Meals Catalonia has become renowned internationally for food and the culture of eating. In recent years, the new wave of experimental gastronomic chefs, such as Ferran Adria (the founder of El Bulli restaurant), have brought the region to the world's attention. However, Catalonia has been a must-visit location for food lovers for many years. Its location on the Mediterranean coast offers a generous and varied selection of ingredient options, allowing for some imaginative results.seafood dishes are impressive and vegetables such as tomatoes, red peppers, aubergines, mushrooms and artichokes are in abundance. However, it is easy to forget that a lot of Catalonia is also made up of mountains and fields where pigs and sheep can roam. Thus, the Catalan interest in 'May Y Mantagna' ('Sea and Mountain' - think 'Surf n Turf'!) - the concept of having fish and meat on the same plate. During your trip there are certain dishes that you will not be able to avoid - such as Pan Con Tomate and Crema Catalana. And then there are the dishes that you will have to make more of an effort to seek out. Meat Dishes Butifarra: An uncured spiced sausage with similarities to Cumberland sausage. Used both in cooking and as a tapa with 'pa amb tomaquet' (see above) Escudellla: Catalan stew made with a piece of meat, beans, potatoes, cabbage and sometimes pasta. It is made into three courses of food: a broth, followed by the meat course, followed by the vegetable course. Xai Rostit Amb 12 Cabeçes d'all: Literally translated this means "Lamb Roasted with 12 Heads of Garlic" - it does what it says on the tin! Embutidos: This is the collective name for a platter of cured meats, including fuet (pork) and jamon from the Vic region. Fish Dishes Esqueixada: A salad made with peppers, tomatoes, onions, red wine vinegar and shredded 'bacalao'. Bacalao is salt cod and is very typical to the region - cod preserved in salt and soaked before serving. Fideuas: Like a seafood paella, but served with short noodles, rather than rice. Suquet de Peix: A Seafood Stew with potatoes, garlic and tomato. A wide variety of fish can be used in the stew, depending on what has been caught that day Bonne Appétit, or as they say in Catalonia 'Bon Profit'! Optional Extras What are optional extras? In addition to your holiday we also offer you a variety of optional extras to make your holiday even richer and add some local colour. You can buy your optional extras at the welcome meeting at the beginning of your holiday. We will ask you to pay in cash and fill out a form. Details and prices will be given on arrival. This can be done when you please around the activities and dance classes that we have organized for you. Your tour host will be on hand for any queries you may have about the local area. Before Your Go Books on Catalonia: It may be worth your while reading up on your destination before you go. We recommend The Lonely Planet Guide to Catalonia and Catalonia: A Cultural History by Michael Eaude. Budgeting for your holiday: Here are some guidelines on prices, to help you do your own calculations. Please refer to the optional extra section of the fact sheet for the prices of the optional extras. Three course meal including drinks in the centre of town: 20-25 euros. Rum and coke in a nightclub: 5 euros Beer in a bar/cafe: 3 euros Coffee in a bar/cafe: 2 euros Health and Fitness: There are no particular health requirements for a dance holiday. However you should be able to dance for at least two hours a day in order to be able to enjoy the dance classes. Insurance, Visa and Passport Requirements: Refer to the brochure for full details. In brief, Insurance is a condition of booking. Visas may be required for non EU citizens. British nationals need a full passport to travel to Spain. Joining Instructions: You receive these about 10 days before the start of your holiday. They will include the address and phone number of the hotel, transfer details, and emergency contact numbers.

Essential equipment and clothing to bring Useful Things to Bring Camera Shoes suitable for walking around the streets Spring/Summer clothing for day Jacket for evenings Swimming costume and suntan lotion This fact sheet and Joining Instructions Passport, money, plane ticket. What to wear for dancing: We recommend that you bring comfortable leather sole shoes, dance trainers or cowboy boots for the classes and Socials. Your shoes should be comfortable and supportive. Wear lightweight cotton socks to avoid sweaty and blistered feet! It is probable that you may get through quite a few clothes in the workshops and dancing at night (you can get quite hot!) so bring a variety of outfits. Wear comfortable loose clothing for the classes and the evenings. The dress code at night is pretty informal. Some of you may wish to dress country and western style. At Your Destination Banks and Money: The easiest way to obtain euros is by using a credit card at one of the numerous cash points. You can buy small amounts, as often as you like, at any time, without queuing. You will need to know your P.I.N. Cash points are very easy to use. Bank opening hours are normally 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. Banks will change cash, travellers cheques and will sell you currency on your credit card providing the lines to Britain are open. You will always need to show your passport at a bank. Tipping is generally less common in Spain than in Britain. There is no need to tip taxis but it is usual to leave a 5-10% tip at a restaurant if you are particularly pleased with your dinner/lunch. We feel our tour hosts work hard to give you an exceptional holiday and sometimes you may find that they add some special touches which are beyond the call of duty. If you agree with us, you might wish to show your appreciation by way of a tip. You can do this by putting money in an envelope on your own or by getting together with other guests. This evidently is entirely at your discretion. Making friends with the Locals and people not on the holiday: Unfortunately we cannot allow people not booked on our Club Dance Holiday to join in on any of the organised activities and we ask for your discretion is this respect. However we can offer a flight exclusive package for people already in Spain, thus enabling them to stay with the group and join in all activities and lessons. Please see www.clubdanceholidays.co.uk or contact our UK Reservations Team (0207 099 4816) for details.
