Frequently Asked Questions General How long has the Presidio Golf Club (PGC) been in existence? The Club was founded in 1895 by a group of civilians who requested permission from the US Army to build a golf course on the base. The Clubhouse was built in 1897. Details on our history are available online (www.presidiogolfclub.com, in our pamphlet A Short History of the Presidio Golf Club, and in our 100 th anniversary book: Golf at the Presidio 1895-1995). How is the Club governed? The Club is governed by a five member Council. Members of the Council serve for three years. Officers include the President, Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer. Each year an election is held in January to replace any Council member whose term has expired. Regular members have voting rights, other categories of membership do not. More details on governance may be found in the Club By-Laws. How can I serve on one of the Club s committee s? After the initial meeting, the committee heads will approach members about serving on their committee. You can also contact a committee head directly if you would like to serve. How do I get to know the members? Are there opportunities for this? Yes, by attending casual dinners, special events, joining the WPGC and/or the Senior Golfers (for age 50 and older). You will also meet other members with whom you ll be paired to play. Our members are very friendly and welcoming. Can my spouse participate in PGC activities and if so, how? If you become a Social, Associate, Young Executive or Regular golf member, your partner has social access to the Club, even if you are not present. If your partner wishes to play golf, he/she may join as a spousal golfer for an additional $220 a month in dues. Are there any clubs within the PGC? Yes. The Women of the PGC (WPGC) has an active roster and event calendar. Membership is $35 annually. The Senior s Club is also very active. They enjoy monthly golf tournaments and lunch along with an annual golf trip. Membership is $50 annually. PGC members are welcome to join! When can I start to refer my friends as new PGC members? Right Away! As part of our tradition, we strongly encourage you to consider sponsoring other likeminded people to join the PGC right away. New members help to keep our Club vital and active. Rev 01.14 Page 1 of 5

Does the Club have a dress code? Yes. All hats must be removed while inside the Clubhouse. Exercise outfits are meant to be worn in the exercise room and locker rooms, not in the dining areas. Clean and well-tailored jeans are allowed. Can I use a cell phone inside the Clubhouse? Cell phone use is permitted outside of the Clubhouse and in non-public indoor areas. Can I use my laptop in the Clubhouse and is Wi-Fi available in the Clubhouse? Yes laptop usage is permitted in areas away from the member bar. The Wi-Fi password is: PGCWIRELESS. Where should I park my car? You will receive a PGC parking permit which allows you to park in spaces dedicated to the Club. We also have day use permits for you and your guests for spaces designated as 3 hour or Z permit only. How am I billed? You will have a statement emailed to you within the first week of each month. You will see dues for that upcoming month as well as any charges made to the account from the previous month- such as food, beverages, cart fees, merchandise etc. Payment is due immediately upon receipt of the statement. Please refer to the By-Laws for additional information on dues and billing. Can I pay by credit card or online? Payment by check is preferred. We do not offer automatic debit, but many members use online billing payment through their bank. Once you get your statement with the balance due, you can submit payment online through your bank s website. Alternatively, we can make arrangements to bill your credit card on file with a 4% convenience fee. What is the quarterly congressional? The quarterly congressional is a food and beverage minimum. As the name implies, this is a quarterly amount that the member will be charged. Most members use more than the minimum during the quarter and do not get billed for the congressional. Introductory Social members are exempt from a quarterly congressional food and beverage minimum. What happens if I do not use my $200 quarterly food & beverage congressional? At the end of each quarter, you will be billed the $200 congressional if it is not used or a total of $200 if you have used a part of it i.e. you spent $160 on food and beverage so you would be billed an additional $40. Introductory Social members are exempt from a quarterly congressional food and beverage minimum. I understand that the Club has a loan what are the details? The Club took out a commercial loan in 2008 using the Clubhouse as collateral. Members are billed quarterly for the interest on the loan. Historically, these interest payments vary by quarter. New members are also exempt for 6 months from interest payments on the Club s commercial loan. Members are not personally liable for this loan in any way. (Ask to see the commercial loan fact sheet for additional details). Are there any other fees or assessments? Yes there are, but the good news is that unlike other clubs, the PGC is not responsible for maintenance or improvements to the golf course and no assessment for the golf course will be made. The PGC has instituted a monthly operational assessment for items not covered by dues. Should the need arise, members may be responsible for a capital assessment. New members are exempt from assessments for one year (billing starts on the last day of the 12 th month). New members are also exempt for 6 months from interest payments on the Club s commercial loan. If you choose to join the Seniors Club or WPGC, annual dues are billed at the beginning of the year. All golfing members are assessed a fee (in 2013 it was $35 in January and $75 in June) for Northern California Golf Assn. membership, competition and eligibility for special offers. Page 2 of 5

Is there anything in the fine print I need to know? When you join PGC you receive all the fine print (By-Laws, Club regulations and policies). Approved minutes from the Council meetings and Committee meetings each month are in the Front Office, available for any member to see. Quarterly financial statements are available to regular members for review 6 weeks after the end of the quarter. Please schedule an appointment with the Club Manager or member of the Council to review financial documents. DINING & SOCIAL EVENTS What are the hours of operation for the dining room? Monday: Closed Tuesday Friday 9:00-3:00 Food, 11:00 6:00 Bar Saturday & Sunday 7:00 3:00 Food, 11:00 6:00 Bar Casual Friday Dinner 5:30 8:00 (every other week- see Calendar) Is there a calendar of events at the Club? Yes. Our full calendar is available on our website. Monthly updates are made in the newsletter and regular emails. How do I make reservations for the special events dinners? Call the front office at 379-2520 or email pgc@presidiogolfclub.com. May I invite non-member guests to lunch, dinner or special events? Yes, you may invite non-members to the Club from time to time. Individuals may play golf as a guest a maximum of 6 times per year and dine as a guest a maximum of 12 times per year. Should the same guest visit the Club more than one time in a week, a $5 guest fee will apply. Members or instructors having guests visiting the Club more than one time per month for classes will be billed a $5 guest fee for each guest. Members are to provide the Club office with names of all guests. Can my guest pay by credit card? No. All fees are billed to the member account. Is there gratuity added onto my dining bill? There is an automatic 10% added on to all your dining expenses however members generally like to leave an additional tip; you can either leave cash or add an additional amount onto the bill. You will be charged for this in your next month s bill. In addition, there is a staff holiday gift fund to which you may want to contribute at the end of the year. May I host a private event at the Club for my family or business? Yes. Members may use the Club for book clubs, business meetings, parties and other events. There is special member pricing for banquets and catering. Does my PGC membership include any reciprocal privileges? Yes. The Club has partnered with Preferred Golf Club to provide you with access to and reduced golf fees and hotel accommodations at many of the world's best resorts (visit www.preferredgolf.com for more details). Are children welcome at the Club? Yes, we encourage families to enjoy the Club and are expanding our Family program with many exciting activities. Parents are expected to provide supervision and maintain the ambiance of the Club. Children under 12 are to be seated in the Grill Room or Lanai. Children under 21 are not permitted in the Bar area unless they hold a Junior membership with the Club. Seating for children in the Lawson Little Room is available only during a special event. Children are not permitted to use the Swing Room or Exercise Room. Page 3 of 5

Golf Related Does the Club maintain and operate the golf course? No. When the golf course was absorbed into the National Park System, The Arnold Palmer Golf Management Company (now known as Century Golf Management Partners) was awarded the contract to maintain and operate the golf course. We work very closely with their management team and are proud that the Golf Course Superintendent is one of our Members. How many times can I play golf? The Golfing membership includes unlimited play. Some restrictions apply on junior golf memberships How do I make a tee time? Golfing members may call the Golf Shop directly (415/379-2531), sign up in person (by completing a green card available in the golf shop or email proshop@presidiogolfclub.com. Our Golf Shop Staff is ready to assist you. You may book one week in advance however if you have a special request for dates up to one month away we will make every effort to accommodate your request. Can I show up and walk on? We recommend calling ahead since you will still need a tee time. Some members do show up and are able to get on to the course depending on what day and time it is. However, there may be times when the course is full and we would be able to tell you ahead of time if you call before coming over.. Can a Social member play golf? To play golf through the Club, you must be a golfing member. However, if you are not a golfing member, you can play through the public access to the course (Palmer) and pay the greens fees directly to them. What happens if I make a tee time and I don t show? The PGC is billed for all tee times made by members that do not show up. In turn, the fee charged to the Club will be posted to your account. The golf course management establishes the fee schedule. What happens if I have a tee time and it s raining? It is very important that you cancel your tee time in advance or you may be subject to a no-show fee equal to the non-member rate. If you did not cancel your tee time, please call our golf shop the afternoon before or first thing in the morning to learn if there will be a no-show fee. If you have scheduled an early tee time and learn that indeed no-show fees will be charged, you will be allowed to take a later tee time on the same day in lieu of the charge. We encourage all golfers to cancel tee times if the weather forecast is poor. There virtually are always tee times available on poor weather days which can be booked on the same day. Are carts included? Are there any Prime Time Fees? Carts are $13 per round. You may pick up and drop off carts here in front of our Clubhouse. Prime tee times on Friday, Saturday & Sunday between 7:00am 11:00am are available for an additional $20 per round. Occasionally this fee is waived if demand is low for a particular day. What about bringing Guests? From time to time you may invite guests to join you for a round of golf. Please provide the golf shop with their names. All golf charges will be billed to your account. The golf shop does not accept payment from non-members. Guests are welcome for dining and social events as well. Dining Room charges will be added to your account. A guest many play golf through the Club a maximum of six times per year, regardless of which member extends the invitation. The golf shop tracks non-member play, so you may call to find out the status of your potential guest ahead of time. Page 4 of 5

How many guests can I have? At one time? During the week, members can have 3 guests at one time. During the weekend, members are discouraged from having more than one guest. The same guest may only play a maximum 6 times annually at PGC regardless of which member has invited the guest. How can my spouse play golf? Spousal memberships are available for $220 per month. Alternatively, you may invite your spouse to play 6 times a year, however spouses and guests may not play in tournaments or displace golfing members. How do I sign up for the golf tournaments? Sign up sheets for the tournaments are on clipboards in the golf shop. You may also email or call to reserve a spot. Please see the golf policy document for additional information. What about the driving range? Members may purchase range cards which offer discounts over the individual bucket charge. The driving range is operated by Palmer not the Club. How does Play Away work? Each month, Regular and Associate members are eligible to earn up to $120 worth of extra golf. The member can choose to use this credit at one of the PGC s Play Away courses. You will pay for the golf and then bring the receipt back to the accounting department within 7 days. Your account will be reimbursed the PGC rate at our course which varies by day of the week. Introductory Members and Young Executive Members have a modified play away program. What is the NCGA and how do I sign up? The NGCA (Northern California Golf Association) founded in 1901, is an association which seeks to support and promote the game of golf in Northern California and to enhance the knowledge, enjoyment and participation of NCGA members. The Presidio Golf Club will host your handicap through the NCGA if you would like. Additional benefits to your NCGA membership include: Discounted golf access, complimentary clinics, member outings, discounted travel and lodging, a subscription to the NCGA Golf Magazine and golf seminars. Can I order golf equipment? Yes and at a discount! Our Golf Shop staff is ready to assist with special orders from most golf related companies. How can I take lessons? One golf instructor is a member of our staff. Additionally there are a variety of PGA certified teaching professionals based at the Presidio Golf Course. Each has a slightly different style and specialty. Please visit the Palmer website (www.presidiogolf.com) for more information. Can I bring a private golf outing or tournament to the Club? If you are organizing a large group for an official tournament, we recommend working with Palmer who can negotiate tournament fees. We would be delighted to host the group for food and beverage before or after the event. How do I arrange for shoe cleaning? If you would like to have your shoes cleaned, simply leave them outside your locker and an attendant will take care of them. While you don t have to tip, most members leave a couple dollars in the shoes or hand the gratuity to the attendant directly. Do I tip the Golf Shop personnel for golf bag handling or club cleaning? The Golf Shop staff does not expect to be tipped, however they are included in the holiday gift fund. Page 5 of 5
