Margin Builder Tool what is it? Margin Builder is a deal registration program offering Partners the potential to earn additional upfront margins on qualifying SMB deals. Margin Builder is now available to all Partners registered on Symantec s Partner portal, PartnerNet. Directly accessible at www.marginbuilder.com, it allows partners to increase their margin by a substantial proportion depending on their specialization status The incentive is delivered to the partner in the form of a discount authorized by Symantec and passed on by distribution. 3

Pass your Deal-ID to your Distribution Partner to claim your Additional 10% or 20% Margin 4

Email verification Go to. www.marginbuilder.com The reseller email address needs to be entered and validated This will query the PartnerNet user database If the reseller is in PartnerNet database: user is sent to claim form If the reseller is not in PartnerNet database: user is requested to register for PartnerNet 13
PartnerNet registration If email address was not located in the PartnerNet database the user must register for PartnerNet before submitting a deal When a deal is submitted, it is kept at Open-Pending until the PartnerNet registration is either approved or rejected 14

Step 1: Go to. www.symantec.com Click on Partners on the top menu Click on Login to PartnerNet on the right top menu 16
Step 2: Enter your login details. If you don t have an account please complete the Symantec Partner Application 17

Deal submit page Different introduction text as a Silver member has now accessed the site. It now states they will receive 20% as they are an SMB Partner As the email address was verified in PartnerNet, the Tell a Friend tool auto fills this information 21
Deal submit page After entering your details, you need to enter either the end user company name or the end user postcode along with the end user country Once the end user details have been entered, the reseller will click search. This will search all companies that are within the Dunn and Bradstreet database 22
Deal submit page The D&B search returns as many results as possible according to the search criteria If the relevant reseller is not in the resulting list, the reseller has the opportunity to modify their search The reseller can manually enter the end user details if they cannot be found in the results list 23
Deal submit page If the end user does not appear in the search results, the reseller is shown this message Resellers are prompted to manually enter the end user information 24
Deal submit page The reseller has the ability to enter all end user details when clicking Manual Entry. The mandatory fields are: - End user company name - End user website - End user company postcode - End user company town - End user company countries - Market/Segment - Distributor When the Market/Segment is selected, the relevant products that are associated to this Market/Segment are produced 25
Deal submit page Before any products are presented to the reseller, a product category must be selected The discount % shown is in relation to the membership status as stated earlier in the process 26
Deal submit page Clicking on the solution area displays the appropriate products A simple bullet point list is presented to clearly show what products are available 27
Deal submit page The percentage is labelled with text explaining what it is for, this can be modified The selected products are clearly highlighted The reseller must select deal information: Licence type, Seat quantity and Maintenance The seat quantity can be selected by adjusting the slider or typing the amount of seat in the allocated box Before submitting the deal, the reseller must agree the T&C s. There is also a link for them to be downloaded If required the reseller can tick Remember me. This will keep them logged in on this specific computer, therefore no need to verify email address again 28
Deal submit page Once the deal has been submitted, a pop up window appears. If Yes is selected, the user continues to the deal confirmation page. If No, is selected, they are directed back to the claim form 29
Deal submit page Step 4 of the 4 step process: deal confirmation page Confirmation that the deal has been approved Deal ID this must be passed onto the distributor and carried all the way through the deal. This is how we track deals and produce analytics on the whole program Each deal has a lifespan of 60 days. If it is not closed within this time period, it is auto expired. A reminder email is sent to the reseller contact after 30 days If Remember me was ticked, you can view the claims you have previously submitted. Deals can be viewed for the whole company, but the user is sent to PartnerNet and required to sign in 30
