hords in the Key of In the key of your basic chords are - Am - Bm - - D - Em - F#dim. Each chord is designated a number usually in Roman Numerals, so is the one chord (I), Am is the two chord (ii), Bm is the three chord (iii) and so on. The seventh chord (vii) is left out of this euide because it s not a commonly used chord and is more difficult to play. You ll notice that many of the chords have different names such as Maj7,, Dsus etc...these are all variations of the basic chords listed above and Maj7 is still a I chord, is still a IV chord, Dsus is still a V chord etc...you ll also notice that there are different variations of chords that have the same name. These are called different voicings. Two chords that have the same name but different voicings just mean that the chords share all of the same notes but the notes are played in a different order. So if you see two different ways to play an, the chord is still an but the notes are played in a different order. If that s confusing, don t worry about it right now, it s just the reason you ll see two chords with the same name that are a little different from each other.
