2 Comments I love open tunings. They add moods to music that just don t show up in regular tuning. lso som ethings are simply not playable in standard tuning that you can play in open tunings. One caution, though, is that it is possible to get lazy with open tunings. Quite often because the tuning flavors the music to a degree, it s easy to disregard the thinking out what you are playing. ll right, now let s look at the tunings. There certainly are many more, these are the ones I tend to use. lso you can capo these tunings, it is fairly common. Make sure that you retune after capoing. It tends to alter the pitch even if you are in tune before hand. : ouble drop tuning tuning: low and high E down a whole step (this actually is not an open tuning, it s called a modal tuning because it doesn t belong to one certain key) tuning: low and high E down a whole step string down a whole step F# : OPEN tuning tuning: low and high E down a whole step string down a whole step string down 1/2 step F : OPEN m tuning OPEN Em tuning / E E E if you capo at 2nd fret tuning: low and high E down a whole step string down a whole step string down a whole step / E E C# E : OPEN / OPEN tuning tuning: low and high E down a whole step string down a whole step
