In 2008, the German Government decided to boo the internationalization of education and research. A year erlier, the Brazilian Science and Technology approved an action plan to promote these two areas. Therefore, to enhance the cooperation, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Lula signed an agreement to eablish 2010 and 2011 the Year of science, Technology and Innovation. Therefore, The Fraunhofer Gesellshaft (German side), ABDI, INMETRO, MCT and FINEP (Brazilian side) organized a series of events that aims to underand the universe of innovation networks, identify and discuss rategies for governance and the articulation and interaction among actors. Therefore, the 1th Brazil-Germany Innovation Learning Lab 2011 takes place in Brazil aiming the achievement of a pivotal role in foering and promoting ate-level innovation syems that contribute to the eablishment of innovative indurial and technological cooperation projects. These initiatives, on their turn, may not only help to rengthen the economies of both countries, but also generate important benefits to their respective national-level innovation syems and economies.
