MASTER S DEGREE STUDIES Master of Arts (Art and Design) Industrial Design 0 ECTS credits GENERAL The purpose of industrial art and design is to enhance the aesthetical and functional quality of products, services, and the environment and to observe the human factor in product development. The designer is a link between society and production, recognizing the consumer s needs and designing better products on the substratum of this knowledge. The basic and subject studies of s major studies provide the basic knowledge and skills needed in the designer s profession; they also prepare the student for the artistic, technical, and research-oriented approach. The advanced studies of the major subject aim for a comprehensive command of research and product development methods, independent design problem solving, and creative knowledge application. Through the minor subject studies the student may strengthen his/her skills needed by a design expert within the fields of industry, trade, culture, and education. The Degree Programme in Industrial Design aims for concrete cooperation with industry and commerce. DEGREE The Master s degree (0 cr.) consists of advanced studies in the major subject (8 cr.), language studies (8 cr.) and optional studies (7 cr.). The optional studies are negotiated together with the teacher tutor and they could be used to fill in the gaps in the major or methodological studies, or to support research and academic writing skills.
