Overview and Goals Article 1 1These course and examination rules and regulations govern the course and specific procedures in the Master of Arts in Theatre, specialization Physical Theatre. 2The ATD Master's degree programme is part of the Master Campus Theatre CH. Scope of application Article 2 1The completed Master's degree awards the following title: Master of Arts in Theatre - Teatro di movimento / Physical Theatre Title Article 3 1Physical Theatre combines acting and physical disciplines to create a dramatic theatrical experience in which the actor is at the centre of his creation. 2The MA degree is awarded with the successful completion of a physical theatre production and a written thesis. 3The modular structure provides the framework by which to complete the process. Profile Article 4 1The Master's Degree Programme syllabus is in a modular structure, consisting of three module groups: Module Group 1: Campus and Toolboxes Module Group 2: Composition Module Group 3: Artistic production and Thesis Thematic modules Article 5 1The graduate will achieve the following goals: full control over their medium of expression, ability to maximize their individual performance skills and apply them to both contemporary and traditional forms of performance art, self analyses and criticism, the ability to nurture a professional relationship among other artists and presenters and use the knowledge of research and analyses to keep abreast of current concepts and discoveries in Physical theatre, the ability to initiate, plan, implement and produce a physical theatre work. 2The Curriculum emphasizes artistic excellence and the development of an autonomous artistic personality. Entry Requirements Article 6 Article 7 Article 8 Article 9 Article 10 Article 11 1To apply for the Master s degree at ATD, one must have: Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre, Dance or Circus Arts Graduation from a Theatre, Dance or Circus Academy An equivalent qualification reviewed and judged by the ATD Jury. 2Should certain specific skill requirements be lacking, the ATD will request the applicant attain them as a condition of admission. 1An Aptitude Test is administered to determine: high level of innovative and creative potential, ability to independently initiate and direct, interest in cross-disciplinary work, ability for self analyses and criticism realistic and reasonable theme for proposed Master s project, 2Knowledge of one of the Swiss national languages (German/French/Italian) and/or English is a prerequisite. 1Application must include the following documents: the enrolment form with the required enclosures, a description of the Master s project and timeline for its development. 1The aptitude test is administered by the ATD Jury, composed of the Head of the Master's studies, Head of the research department, a faculty member of the ATD and the assistant Head of the Master's studies. 2The procedure consists of two stages: Review of the Enrolment Dossier by the ATD Jury, Individual interview and a practical exam once the candidate's dossier has been assessed as meeting the required standards. 3For the individual interview, the Aptitude Jury may request additional written documentation or other viewable material (Video, DVD or other), practical exam includes exercises in theatre improvisation and movement/dance. With prior notice the Aptitude Jury may request the presentation of an example of one's own work (max. 5 min.) 1Each member of the ATD Jury evaluates the Enrolment Dossier, the individual interview and the practical exam with assessing a pass or fail grade. 2The aptitude test is passed if at least two members of the ATD Jury assess as passed the candidate in all areas. 1The ATD Jury may make a recommendation for application at one of the other Master Campus Theatre CH, should the candidate not meet the requirements for the ATD Advanced Course Movement/Physical Theatre. Article 13 1Students will meet twice per term with their Head of the MA department and the main staff of the MA, to establish a personal study plan. 2Enrollment in courses is prior to the beginning of term start (see enrolment form) and is binding. Courses taken at another institution than the Master Campus Theatre CH have to be evaluated by the Head of MA department who decides accreditation of these courses. 3ECTS will be awarded when attendance of the course is confirmed by the attendance record, and a passing grade is awarded by the instructors. 4Students must enrol for at least 18 ECTS per term. 5All ECTS of Module Group 1 and 2 have to be acquired prior to going into the final production and Thesis. Exceptions have to be agreed by the Head of the MA department. 6Students receive their Master's diploma following successful completion of 90 ECTS, their Master's production and the written thesis. At least 70 ECTS must be from the STD Campus. 7If prior to admission, an applicant has shown competency to meet the criteria for one or more of the courses with a module, that student will be excused from taking that course. Master's Production and Thesis Article 14 Article 15 Article 16 1The Master s degree programme concludes with the Master's production and the written thesis. 2The production application by the candidate must be made no later than six months prior to the planned presentation. 1The Master s production and the written Thesis are assessed according to the following criteria: Overall success of production as a coherent artistic statement, utilizing individual candidate's technical and creative skills and strengths, Initiation, planning and implementation of the production process, Coherent articulation of artistic and academic intent, Competency of thesis and its research. 2The Examination Committee for the practical work and the thesis consists of the Head of the MA degree programme, a faculty member and an invited professional. 3The committee grades the Master s Production and the written thesis: Graduated with Honour, Graduated with Distinction, Graduated and Not Graduated. 4In the case of fail, the student has one more opportunity to present the production or rewrite the thesis. 5The Master s degree programme, production and thesis included, must be completed within 6 terms. 1 The student's are guided throughout the process by two staff teachers and the Head of the MA programme. The supervising team together with the peer group of other MA students play an integral role throughout the process. Master's production and Thesis Criteria and Assessment Supervision 5

Further Conditions Article 17 Article 18 Article 19 Article 20 1In case of course cancellation no credits are given and make up must be arranged. 1The student is liable for any loss or damage to equipment that is property of the ATD. 1The ATD retains all rights related to material and equipment used in the course of study. 2The Master s Production remains property of the ATD until the Master s degree is awarded. 3If the Master s candidate's studies are interrupted, the funding provided by the ATD to the student for the Master s Production must be reimbursed. 4Should the ATD receive income in association with the candidate's production, the candidate is entitled to a reasonable proportion thereof. The proportion will be determined on a case by case bases by the ATD administration. 5The school will grant the copy right for the production and thesis upon successful completion of the diploma. 1These syllabus and examination rules and regulations come into implementation on 01/05/2013, and replace the rules and regulations of 01/01/2012.
