Garnica- Mendoza School Trustee - Sweetwater Union School Liaison Transforming Education for English Learners San Ysidro School Sixth & Eighth Grade Scholarship Letter Deadline April 15, 2013 Dear Principal and Eighth Grade Teachers, Every year CABE San Diego South County Chapter awards a $50 scholarship to one outstanding bilingual sixth grade student from each school of the participating districts. Sixth grade students seem to be the most appreciative of this special recognition. We hope this award will encourage them to continue to excel in their studies and to consider a future career as a bilingual educator. The process will consist of the following: 1) Confer with your school's sixth-grade teachers and select one student from your school's sixth grade class that you consider being the most deserving of this award. 2) Complete the attached Scholarship Recommendation Form in its entirety 3) Have the student write a short paragraph describing benefits of being bilingual/biliterate. 4) FAX the Scholarship Recommendation Form and the student s paragraph. 5) Give parents a copy of the attached CABE Scholarship Parent Letter and driving directions to Rancho del Rey Middle School. 6) Please remind parents that they need to call or email to confirm their attendance! The CABE Scholarship Awards Breakfast will be held on Saturday morning, May 4, 2013 at Rancho del Rey Middle located at 1174 East J St.,, CA 91910. The honoree and one guest receive free admission to the breakfast. Others wishing to attend the breakfast will need to buy a ticket. Tickets are $10 at the door. Please reserve this date, and join us in honoring all the students who will be receiving scholarships. We want to recognize your child s hard work in school and his/her commitment to maintaining his/her language and culture. Please join us at this very special event. Your child will be honored on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at a Scholarship Awards Breakfast. The event will take place from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., at Rancho del Rey Middle located at 1174 East J Street,, CA 91910. Each participating school will have one student honoree at the Awards Breakfast on May 4, 2013. schools are invited to send the name of one (1) outstanding sixth grade bilingual student to be recognized. Please take a few moments to read the attachments: Sixth Grade Scholarship Letter provides you all the information necessary to participate in this student recognition program. Sixth Grade Scholarship Recommendation Form due Monday, April 15, 2013. The 2013 Parent Letter Notification is for you to inform parents of the student about the award as well as date, time, place and map with directions.
