Introduction Your ThermIT product can be configured to send you e-mails and text messages when something is not right. This guide will introduce you to the types of alarms available, as well as how to make the right setup. Note! Alarms will only function when ThermIT has a main module IMEI number associated to a named department, so remember when a system is started, ThermIT need to receive an email with information about the customer name etc Alarm Types Main Module Alarms: If the main module goes 120 minutes without sending data to the ThermIT servers, this alarm is triggered. When this alarm is triggered, no sensor data whatsoever is being sent to the ThermIT servers. The reason for this is in most cases a missing GPRS connection or missing power to the main module. Main module alarms are set up per-user, and can be sent by e-mail or SMS. The alarm can be set to operate in a given period, and time-out interval in minutes can be specified. Main Module alarms are mostly for technicians, and for monitoring unstable GPRS connections. During normal operation, temperature alarms should be used for regular users. Linked Sensor Alarms An alarm can be set up to trigger when a specified difference in temperature is measured by two different sensors. Typical usage includes: - Placing two sensors in the same spot, and using a linked sensor alarm to detect a defective sensor. - Placing two sensors in each end of areas (e.g. the top and bottom of a refrigerator) in which a constant, uniform temperature must be present. Side 2 af 7

Temperature Alarms: Temperature alarms will be triggered when the temperature in an area is outside the limits specified in the alarm settings. Additionally, each temperature alarm has a timeout timespan specified. If no sensor readings in the given area are received within this timespan, the alarm is triggered. Temperature interval and timeout is combined into a single alarm to ensure an area is always monitored. Temperatures will be monitored when possible, and if a sensor for some reason is no longer able to send data to the main module, the user is notified that data is not being received, hence temperature monitoring has stopped. This alerts the user whenever ThermIT either finds an error, or can t guarantee the observation of the area. Notice that two consecutive readings must be outside the specified temperature limits for an alarm to be triggered. This will avoid alarms triggering e.g. when refrigerators defrost. Temperature alarms are set up per-user, and can be sent by e-mail or SMS. How to find the alarm page 1. Log onto the web portal 2. Press the Warnings tab (see image) 3. Select your company and department in the drop down (see image) You will now see an overview of all your alarms in the department, similar to the following image: Side 3 af 7

Alarm overview Main Module Alarms There is a main module alarm for each user in the department. Click on the line with your user to change alarm settings. Main Module alarms are sent if the main module has not sent data to the server in the default 110 min. Default number of minutes can be put on the alarm itself. Side 4 af 7

Setting up main module alarm Custom text: In this field you can write a message, if you write a message then this message will be the text of the E-Mail which is sent as an alarm. This can be used with our product GSM600 Relay Module. (Can be used in a circuit breaker panel to activate an alarm lamp) Note! Alarms are billed per SMS and are not included in the hosting agreement. Alarms on E-mail are included in the hosting agreement. Field explanations Send SMS: If this field is marked, then a SMS will be sent to the user's mobile number if an alarm is triggered. Send E-mail: If this field is marked, then an E-mail will be send to the user s E-mail address if an alarm is triggered Device timeout in minutes: This field will default be set to 110 minutes, if you accept that it may take up to maybe 3 hours before you get an alarm, you will need to type 180 in the box. Active from date: Here you specify the start date from when the alarm is active. Active to date: Here you specify the end date from when the alarm is disabled. Side 5 af 7

Linked Sensor Alarms Press the Create button to create a new alarm, or press an existing alarm to edit or remove one. Field explanations Send E-mail: Send triggered warnings by E-mail, remove selection if you don t want alarms by E- mail. Send SMS: Send triggered warnings by text message, remove selection if you don t want alarms by SMS. Active from/to date: The alarm will be active between these two dates. This could be useful for e.g. vacations. Between/and: The alarm will be active every day between these two times (if the alarm is enabled and within the active from/to dates). If set to 16:00 to 08:00, alarms will only be sent if the temperature is outside the limits in this time interval. Set both of the two boxes to 00:00 if you want alarms to be active all day. Username: The recipient of email/sms warnings. Sensor 1/2: The two sensors whose measurements are to be compared. Max Temp Difference: Max allowed temperature difference between the two sensors. Side 6 af 7

Temperature Alarms Press the Create button to create a new alarm, or press an existing alarm to edit or remove one. Press the Create button to create a new alarm, or press an existing alarm to edit or remove one. Field explanations Enabled: Enable/disable the alarm Username: The recipient of email/sms warnings. Send E-mail: Send triggered warnings by e-mail? Send SMS: Send triggered warnings by text message? Area to check on: The area that will be monitored. Notice that only items in the dropdown with a prefixed dash ( - ) are valid selections. Name: Alarm Name used in e-mails and text messages. Timeout in min.: The number of minutes allowed to elapse before sending an alarm if no data is received from this area. Default = 110 Active from/to date: The alarm will be active between these two dates. Min/Max Temp: Specifies the temperature limits. If two consecutive readings are outside this interval, the alarm is triggered. Requiring two consecutive readings to be outside the temperature interval avoids problems such as alarms triggering when refrigerators defrost Side 7 af 7
