Layout and install a suspended ceiling using 2 x 4 tiles. Measure, layout and cut building materials to 1/16. Layout and build a 24 x 40 house using 1 = 1-0 scale. Layout and install asphalt roofing shingles. Safely erect metal scaffolding according to OSHA standards. Frame a 6 x 8 structure @ 16 O.C. complete with sheathing. Layout, cut and install vinyl siding and coil stock components. Level 1 Student installing pump jack scaffolding. (Safety/Occupational Orientation POS #107) Level 2 Student using power miter saw to cut cripple studs for a wall frame. (Wall Framing POS #800) Level 3 Student installing 2 x 4 ceiling tile at the Ashland Police Dept. construction site. (Interior Finish POS #1100)

~ STC CARPENTRY PROGAM STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES ~ It is the Carpentry Student s responsibility to 1 read, understand and follow the contents of the STC Student Handbook. 2 follow attendance guidelines and absence procedures. 3 be prepared with (clear) safety glasses, tape measure, and pencil each day. 4 follow shop dress codes (work shoes & safety glasses) and school dress codes. 5 follow all shop and OSHA safety rules (keeping clear safety glasses on in the shop area). 6 to use personal protective equipment (PPE), such as ear protection and dust masks. 7 cooperate with others and work as a team member in the shop and on the job site. 8 work with diligence and display initiative in the shop, and on the job site. 9 work with a positive attitude which will promote success concerning your career pathway. 10 complete all Carpentry tasks and theory assignments to the best of your ability. 11 continually update and enrich your personal portfolio for three semesters. 12 strive towards achieving Industry related certifications (such as NOCTI & and HILTI). 13 monitor the construction workforce both in and outside of the STC Carpentry program. 14 stand on your own two feet and make responsible decisions that affect your career. 15 respect all fellow students and STC staff members each day. ~ STC CARPENTRY PROGRAM STUDENT ASSESSMENT ~ STC Carpentry students will be evaluated in three specific areas: KNOWLEDGE (30%), WORK ETHIC (30%), and SKILL (40%). A daily grade under the Work Ethic category will account for a maximum of ten points per day. See the Assessment Rubric below for examples of evaluation. - STC Carpentry Program North Campus Assessment Rubric - KNOWLEDGE 30% LEARNING GUIDES Work diligently on modules to completion. Work is neat and correct. 1-100 DRAWINGS Drawings are neat, complete, and on time. 1-100 RELATED JOBS Examples: Building Layout / Estimating / Stair Layout / Roof Rafter Layout 1-100 KWL READINGS Eight construction related readings with written reports - (neat & complete). 1-100 PORTFOLIO As per GUIDELINES DUE on 60th day of 90 day cycle. 1-100 TESTS Each POS unit has a test.
