Milan, July 1, 2014 Held from Friday, April 10 to Sunday, April 12, 2015 (invitationonly preview on April 9), miart 2015 will mark the twentieth edition of Milan s international fair of modern and contemporary art, organized by Fiera Milano and directed for the third year running by Vincenzo de Bellis. Following up on the complete reinvention of its format and growing success over the last two years, miart 2015 continues to focus on the high quality of the featured works and participating galleries, with authoritative new figures on its selection panel and new appointments to the curatorial team for its special sections. The selection committee will now include Annette Hofmann (Lisson Gallery, London Milan New York), Olivier Babin (CLEARING, New York Brussels) and, for the Object section, Patrizia Tenti (Erastudio & Apartment-Gallery, Milan), who along with Marco Altavilla (T293, Naples Rome), Laura Bartlett (Laura Bartlett Gallery, London), Michele Casamonti (Tornabuoni Art, Paris) for the Masters section, Francesca Kaufmann (kaufmannrepetto, Milan), Giò Marconi (Galleria Giò Marconi, Milan) and Paolo Zani (ZERO..., Milan), will oversee the choice of galleries for the Established Contemporary, Established Masters and Object sections. There are also new appointments to the curatorial team for the special sections: Dan Byers (Curator, Modern and Contemporary Art, Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh) and Ruba Katrib (Curator, Sculpture Center, New York) will be working alongside Giovanni Carmine (Director, Kunsthalle St Gallen) and Alexis Vaillant (Independent Curator, Bordeaux) on the THENnow section, and Isabelle Valembras (Design Consultant, Milan-Paris) and Federica Sala (Partner, PS Design Consultants, Milan) will curate the Object section. Once again, Alessandro Rabottini (Curator at Large, GAMeC, Bergamo; MADRE, Naples) will be Curatorial Coordinator, Donatella Volontè will curate the Established Master section and Andrew Bonacina (Chief Curator, The Hepworth, Wakefield) will be responsible for the Emergent and First Step sections. With over 40,000 visitors in 2014, miart has firmly established itself as a touchstone event that draws Italian and international collectors, curators and art enthusiasts to Milan each spring from around the world. What s more, in 2015, its scheduling just before the Salone del Mobile / Design Week - which will begin the day after the miart finissage will foster growing participation by Italian and European institutions dedicated to contemporary art and design, with a notable increase in collectors and curators from Europe, the United States and the Middle East. Thanks to miart and the Furniture Fair, the innate qualities that make Milan a capital of contemporary creativity will be back in the
spotlight, offering a foretaste of the long, rich season that is in store with Expo 2015. In other words, the week of miart will once again be a not-to-be-missed event for everyone in the sector, due in part to the support of leading Milanese cultural institutions like PAC Padiglione d Arte Contemporanea, Triennale di Milano, GAM Villa Reale, and Hangar Bicocca, which will be opening major exhibitions and festivals during the fair. In 2015, miart will renew its collaboration with Fondazione Nicola Trussardi for the third year in a row, co-organizing a special project for the evenings of the fair. miart 2015 Press Office: Lara Facco: T +39 02 36565133 / M. +39 349 2529989 / press@larafacco.com Fiera Milano Press Office: Rosy Mazzanti: T +39 0249977324 / rosy.mazzanti@fieramilano.it Elena Brambilla: T +39 0249977939 / elena.brambilla@fieramilano.it
