Allow yourself plenty of time. You will need a minimum of one hour before your swim start Venue Driffield Leisure Centre Bridlington Road Driffield YO25 5HR How to get there Driffield Leisure Centre is located on Bridlington Road, Driffield. Please enter the venue through the Driffield School entrance on Manorfield Road only. If using a Sat Nav please use YO25 5HR
2016 Car Parking: Please note there will be no competitor parking at the Leisure Centre There are plenty of free car parking spaces available. All parking is to be accessed via Manorfield Road and the School drive. Our car parking stewards will direct you to the closest available parking spaces If using a Sat Nav, please input YO25 5HR which is the postcode for the school and should direct you via Manorfield Road and the School drive. Please do not try to park in the Leisure Centre car park on Bridlington Road or on the roadside. 2016 Registration BTF Membership After parking, please report to the Registration area at the Freebird Events Trailer. This will be located on the large grass playing fields near to the finish area. To reach registration you must cross the run route. Please keep a look out for other competitors that may be racing. If you declared BTF membership when completing the online entry form, the registration staff will ask to see your membership licence. Please be aware that if you do not have your licence you will be asked to pay an additional 1 for BTF Junior day membership before receiving your race pack. Non BTF Membership If you chose the Non BTF membership option when entering online you will already have paid the additional 1 for Junior day membership
2016 Competitors Race Pack Please check your race pack for the following items Bike Security Tyvek Strap 2 Race Numbers 1 Bike number Timing Chip & Ankle Strap On The Day Final Written Information Rules This race will be held under British Triathlon Federation rules. You should make yourself fully conversant with these. You can download the rules from the Triathlon England website Race Briefing The race briefing for the Junior Triathlon will take place at 12:15 on the small grass area between the registration and the transition area (there will be a sign identifying this area). Here we will explain everything you need to know about the race. 2016 Spectator Guide There is a spectator viewing area upstairs in the pool building. Spectators are most Welcome and you will be able to see all of the bike and run course, but please follow these basic rules to ensure the safety of yourself and all competitors. Only park in the official car parks No spectators vehicles on the roadside or on the Senior Tri route please No spectators on poolside or in the Transition area Stay within the fenced off spectator areas Do not cross any fences or barriers Follow the marshal s instructions and look out for competitors who are racing If you bring your dog, please don t allow it off the lead near any of the race route Refreshments Throughout the day hot and cold drinks, and food can be purchased from our caterers who will be situated close to the registration / finish area. #DriffieldTri Share your photos and experience of the Driffield Tri through Twitter www.freebirdevents.co.uk
2016 What Should I Do Next? Attach your bike number to the front of your bike so that the bike lap counters can clearly see it as you ride round the bike course. You must wear a race number on your back during the bike ride and a number on your front for the run, so attach these to your top or race belt if you are using one. Put your timing chip on your left ankle ready for the start. You will not be able to go into the Junior Transition Area until after the senior race has finished at 12:30. Listen to the Race Briefing at 12:15 in the Transition Area Junior Transition Area This is a different area to the Transition used for the Senior Tri. Please note you must not try to set up any bikes or other kit in the Junior Transition Area until after 12:30 Parents will be allowed to help set up bikes etc before the first junior race, but will not be allowed into Transition after 1:00pm. Official helpers will be on hand to assist the younger competitors lifting bikes on and off the bike racking
2016 The Swim The swim starter will explain how the swim will work. Be on poolside 15mins before your swim start time, but do not get into the pool until told to do so. Please wear the swim cap that you received in your race pack. This will help the lap counter to identify you and count your laps accurately. Make sure you are wearing your timing chip during your swim If you wear glasses, these can be left on a table by the side of the fire exit while you swim. Each age group does a different number of lengths and we will count these for you and tell you when you have finished your swim. Age Group TriStart 50m 2 Lengths Tri Star 1 150m 6 Lengths Tri Star 2 200m 8 Lengths Tri Star 3 300m 12 Lengths When you finish your swim, climb out of the pool before walking to the Fire Door exit at the end of the pool. Transition T1 Go straight to your bike and put on any Clothes you want to wear. Fit and fasten your Bike Helmet, then pick up your bike. Remember to wear your race number on your back while you are riding The marshals will point the way to go Cross the MOUNT LINE and then get on your bike Please don t run until outside the pool building. Cross the road and follow the footpath to your bike. Take care and Listen to the marshal s instructions.
2016 The Cycle You must wear a Bike Helmet during the cycle section Follow the large yellow signs. The Cycle lap is 1km and each age group does a different number of laps. It is a mixture of grass and tarmac. Age Group Laps Distance TriStart 1 1000m Tri Star 1 2 2000m Tri Star 2 4 4000m Tri Star 3 6 6000m Important We will count your laps, but you can help us by making sure we can clearly see your bike number as you ride around the circuit and by shouting out your number as you pass the lap counter.
2016 Transition T2 The Run When you have completed your last lap you should get off your bike just before the Dismount Line. Push your bike back to where you collected it from the bike racking and hang it on the racking. There will be helpers to assist if you can t lift your bike. Take off your helmet and leave it with your bike, then start your run. The marshals will point the way to go The run lap is 600m and each age group does a different number of laps. Age Group Laps Distance TriStart 1 600m Tri Star 1 2 1200m Tri Star 2 3 1800m Tri Star 3 4 2400m We will count your laps Make sure the lap counter can see your race number on your front. Every lap you will run past the finish line On your last lap you will be directed to turn right to cross the finish line
2016 Results Your individual split time results will be available to view immediately after crossing the finish line. You will be able to obtain a printed copy of your own personal times by visiting the Results Gazebo located close to the Finish area. Full provisional results will be displayed and updated throughout the day. Full results will also appear on the Freebird website by Sunday evening - results Supporters Are you competing in or spectating at the Driffield Triathlon on 22nd May. 2016 Photos Free to Download and Share We will have a team of official photographers out on the course, capturing your best action shots, don t forget to smile. These images will be uploaded onto the Freebird website for you to view and download free of charge as you wish.
