Before arrival: We will need the signed Acceptance of Terms form at least one week before your party date. You can email this form to edprograms@cmzoo.org, or fax it to 719.633.2254. Arrival and pick-up: Zoo education staff will meet your group at the admissions gate 10 minutes before your party starts. All birthday participants need to be on time. If we wait for latecomers, it takes time away from your party. Please ask your guests to arrive at least 15 minutes earlier than the party start time to assure that your party begins promptly. Also note that you are responsible for transporting any items that you or your guests bring to the Zoo without Zoo assistance. We cannot provide cart service under any circumstance unless booked and paid for prior to your party date. Please check our Zoo Calendar to decide how early you and your guests need to arrive. http://www.cmzoo.org/index.php/cmzoo_events/category/zoo-events/list/ Our calendar will show you which events are taking place at the Zoo on the day of your party. Please be aware that if your party takes place on the same day as an event/holiday, allow ample parking time. Sometimes parking off Zoo grounds and taking a shuttle is required on busy days. *Spring and Summer weekends are always busy Zoo days during good weather* Some historically busy dates/events: Run to the Shrine Military Appreciation Week Mother s Day Weekend Father s Day Weekend 4 th of July Weekend Memorial Day Weekend Labor Day Weekend Teddy Bear Days (This list does not include every busy day and event, so it is important to check our calendar. You can also call our Administrative Assistant to inquire if an event will be taking place on your party day at (719) 424-7827). What to wear: Party guests should dress comfortably and anticipate spending time outdoors as well as indoors. A waterproof jacket and appropriate walking shoes are recommended. Please dress for the weather (if you live here, you know what we mean). 4

Health and safety: This is a foremost consideration for all Zoo programs. Participants will be given program rules upon arrival and are expected to follow these rules during their entire stay at the Zoo. For everyone s safety, we reserve the right to end the program for an individual or group if the rules are not respected. PLEASE FILL OUT THE ENCLOSED WAIVER FORMS AND RETURN THEM TO THE ZOO ON THE DAY OF YOUR PROGRAM. IF WE DO NOT HAVE THE WAIVER FORM BY THE PROGRAM START TIME, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO TURN AWAY THAT PARTICIPANT. Zoo personnel are prepared for quick response should an emergency arise. The program mentors carry a First-Aid kit and there is always Zoo staff available that is First- Aid and CPR certified. Additional First-Aid kits are located throughout the Zoo. Also, for the health and safety of the animals, BALLOONS, PINATAS, AND CONFETTI ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE THE ZOO. In this case, we can either reschedule or, if you desire, process a full refund. QUESTIONS: If you have any further questions or would like to schedule a party, please call at (719) 424-7827 5

Frequently Asked Questions What exactly can I expect from the animal experience at my birthday party? The animal you choose will be the animal that you and your party guests will visit during your party! During the visit you can expect to learn more about the animal from an experienced Zoo staff member. We also plan for the birthday child to have a special interaction or experience with the animal. Each of these will include a defining moment experience as well as opportunities for photos. While our Zoo keepers strive to set our animals up for success so that you and your guests have the best experience possible, we cannot guarantee any specific experiences. Possible experiences may include: Feeding or providing enrichment. Please keep in mind that special experience opportunities can differ from party to party and from animal to animal. Depending on the age of the birthday child, an adult will join for the animal experience. Can I bring my own cake and/or snacks to the Birthday Party? To make it easier for you, we would love to provide a cake and ice cream for your celebration. You are welcome to bring your own cake, but we do not allow any other outside food or beverage to be brought for the parties. If you choose to bring your own cake, you are responsible for carrying those items yourself to and from the party room without Zoo assistance. If you would like to provide your party guests with pizza, we have wonderful chefs at the Grizzly Grill that will make pizza for your party. Gluten free pizza is available upon request. Call 719-424-7827 for more details. If I have friends who are members, do I still need to pay for them to come to the party? Yes. Because our Zoo Animal Birthday Party package includes extras even for Zoo members, each party guest will need a ticket specifically for the party. In addition the membership discount is based only on the member status of the person who booked the party with us. Membership status of other guests at the party does not apply. What decorations will the Z00 provide? In an effort to be environmentally friendly, the Zoo provides animal center pieces on colored tablecloths. Some buildings have birthday banners as well as fun paper lanters! We provide tables for eating as well as a cake and present table. Can I bring my own decorations? Yes! However, we are not able to accommodate an early arrival to set up decorations. Decorations will need to be set up quickly when your party first arrives to the party room to drop off personal items, gifts, etc. at the beginning of your party (10:30 am or 2:30 pm). For safety of the animals we cannot allow balloons, piñatas, or confetti. 6

Can I have guests pay for themselves on the day of the party? Birthday Party guests CANNOT pay at the Zoo s admission booths if they wish to attend the birthday party. If you want to investigate this option, please contact our Administrative Assistant at 719-424-7827. Where will my party room be located? We have three options for the inside portion of your birthday party experience Safari Lodge across from the lion exhibit near Elson s Place Safari Cabin log cabin classroom near Sky Ride Lodge at Moose Lake event rental space near Grizzly Grill Cafe These party rooms are also rented for other programs at the Zoo. The spaces accommodate different numbers of party guests. Is there a cancellation policy for bad weather? If the Zoo is open to the public, then all scheduled programs at the Zoo will run as planned. If the Zoo decides to close due to bad weather, our first priority will be to reschedule your program for another date. Can I rent a wagon or wheelchair at the Zoo for my party? This equipment rental is separate from our Zoo birthday package. These rentals are charged separately through our contracted concessions provider. They cannot be reserved ahead of time so we suggest arriving early the day of the party to make these arrangements. Can my guests come before the scheduled party to enjoy the Zoo? YES! The cost of the birthday party includes Zoo admission for the day. We encourage guests to come in before or after the party to experience the entire Zoo. If guests are coming before the scheduled party time, they will need to let the front gate know the birthday party registrants name to enter. Our Zoo education staff will greet you at the front gate 10-minutes before your scheduled start time. We do not have a place to hold gifts, cake, or other supplies before or after the party. Why is my 0-2 year old child being charged $0.75 to enter the Zoo for a Birthday Party when they were previously admitted for free? Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is making an effort to help even MORE animals in the wild with the help of each guest that visits. This new $0.75 charge has been added to every guest admission ticket including children ages 0-2 years old. 7
