Show INFO - Using Functions in the Calculator The information in this article applies to: EV (Web) Client, version 5.0 build 1 or higher This article describes the purpose of the functions available in Executive Viewer's calculator. Calculations can be made manually by making an entry in the edit field of the calculator. The calculator also has several functions available to use in calculations. These functions allow you to easily make complex calculations or do special operations. For an overview of the Dynamic functions, see the article INFO - Dynamic Functions in Calculator Press the 'f(x)' button in the calculator to get a list with available functions. Function: Variance (A, B) Description: This function calculates the difference between members: ( A - B ). This function verifies whether an expense tag was added. In that case, A and B are switched. http://evsupport.applix.com/evkb/ev0044.htm (1 of 10) [2/14/2008 11:41:24 AM]

Function: Variance % (A, B) Description: This function calculates the difference between members in percentages: ( (A - B) / (abs) B ) * 100. This function verifies if an expense tag was added. If this is the case, the formula is (( B - A ) / (abs) B ) * 100 Function: Growth (A, B) Description: This function calculates the difference between members: ( A - B ). This function verifies whether an expense tag was added. In that case, A and B are switched. http://evsupport.applix.com/evkb/ev0044.htm (2 of 10) [2/14/2008 11:41:24 AM]

Function: Growth % (A, B) Description: This function calculates the difference between members in percentages: ( ( A - B) / abs(b) ) * 100. This function does not verify if an expense tag was added. Function: Ratio (A, B) Description: This function divides members: A / B http://evsupport.applix.com/evkb/ev0044.htm (3 of 10) [2/14/2008 11:41:24 AM]

Function: Ratio % (A, B) Description: This function divides members and shows the result in percentages: ( A / B ) * 100 Function: Abs Description: This function makes a value of a specified member absolute. This means negative becomes positive. Function: Round Description: Rounds the value of a specified member, which is not the same as changing the amount of decimals. When changing the amount of decimals, only the display code changes. Using the 'Round' function, the new value is used. In this example, the value is rounded to 1 decimal. It is allowed to use a negative number of decimals. http://evsupport.applix.com/evkb/ev0044.htm (4 of 10) [2/14/2008 11:41:24 AM]

Function: Power Description: This function calculates the result of a specified member raised to a power. Function: Square Root Description: This function returns the square root value of a specified member. Function: Root Description: This function returns the entered root value of a specified member. http://evsupport.applix.com/evkb/ev0044.htm (5 of 10) [2/14/2008 11:41:24 AM]

Function: Log Description: This function determines the logarithm of a specified member. Function: Average Description: This function determines the average value of specified members. http://evsupport.applix.com/evkb/ev0044.htm (6 of 10) [2/14/2008 11:41:24 AM]

Function: Count Description: This function counts the number of members entered in the function: Count (10, 20, 30) = 3. Missing values are not counted. Function: Distinct Count Description: This function counts the number of distinct values in the function; Count (10, 20, 20) = 2 http://evsupport.applix.com/evkb/ev0044.htm (7 of 10) [2/14/2008 11:41:24 AM]

Function: Min Description: This function returns the smallest value in a specified range. Function: Max http://evsupport.applix.com/evkb/ev0044.htm (8 of 10) [2/14/2008 11:41:24 AM]

Description: This function returns the largest value in a specified range. Function: Rank Description: This function assigns an order on within specified member. Function: Rank % Description: This function assigns an order from 1-100% within a specified member. The rank is seen as percentage of the highest rank. http://evsupport.applix.com/evkb/ev0044.htm (9 of 10) [2/14/2008 11:41:24 AM]

Function: Cumulative Description: This function counts the cumulative values of a specified member. Function: Cumulative % Description: This function counts the cumulative values of a specified member, seen as percentage of the final total.
