PROSPECTUS 1. Authority: The 33 rd Australian Open Veterans Table Tennis Championships will be organised by Table Tennis NSW under the authority granted by Table Tennis Australia (TTA) 2. Reference The Championships will be conducted in accordance with TTA Regulations and the current ITTF Laws and Regulations of Table Tennis. 10. 11. Registration All Australian players are required to be registered in the highest category of their State Membership. Other competitors must be registered members of an association affiliated with ITTF. 12. Entries Individual: ALL players must enter using the separate individual entry form available from the official website or from their State Association. 15. Entries Team: Each State Association may enter a maximum of five (5) players only in events V40, V42, V43, V44, V45, V46, V47, & V48. For events V41, V49, V50, V51, V52 it is a maximum of 4 players.
16. President Teams: The Selectors shall have the right to nominate one or more President Teams for each of the Team events. Nominations may be received from State Associations and International Players on the form provided. In order to be eligible for selection by the National Selectors in a Presidents Team, a player must have satisfied the eligibility requirements to compete in the individual events of the championships. The host organisation shall provide a playing shirt and TTA will supply a shirt badge at the players expense for each player. Each player in a Presidents Team shall be liable for part of the team entry fee as specified by the hosts. 17. System of Play: SINGLES - Individual: The first round of all singles events will be played in a 4 player round robin basis with the top 2 players of each group progressing to the knockout stage of the event. All matches will be best of 5 games. DOUBLES Individual: All Doubles Events will be a knockout event and best of 5 games. TEAM EVENTS: Team events V40, V42, V43, V44, V45, V46, V47, & V48 will be an 11 match format of 9 singles and 2 Doubles. Team events V41, V49, V50, V51, V52 will be a 5 match format of 4 singles and 1 doubles All matches will be best of 5 games. 18. Disqualification Any player failing to appear when scheduled to play is liable to disqualification by the Referee. 19. Matches Each match will be controlled by an umpire whose decision shall be final on any point of fact. The Referee s decision shall be final on any interpretation of the Laws and Regulations. 20. Restrictions Individual entries will be limited to a maximum of two (2) age groups in each event and these shall be consecutive age groups, e.g. (50 & over and 60 & over) not ( 40 & over and 60 & over). Players in the 80 & over events may enter the 75 & over and also the 70 & over events. The maximum number of events per person will be six (6) events.
21. Risk Players participate at their own risk. No injury claims will be recognised. Players with pre-existing medical conditions should make the organising committee aware of this. Please attach a note detailing the nature of the medical condition and the medication required, as necessary. All medical information will be treated with the strictest confidence and will be destroyed after the championships. 22. Tentative schedule 14 th October 2016 Practice/Opening Ceremony, Photos, Managers Meeting 15 th to 22 nd October 2016 for Competition. A detailed schedule will be provided closer to the event. 23. Managers Meeting: A Management Committee will be appointed and carry out functions in terms of TTA regulations. One of these functions is to consider any appeals against rulings of the host organisation or the referee on a question of match or tournament conduct not covered in the Laws or Regulations. A Managers Meeting will be scheduled for 14 th October 2016 at the Venue starting at TBA. All Managers must attend. 24. Draws: Draw to be done as soon as practical after the closing date and published on the official website. Advice will be forwarded to all states and managers after publication. 25. Equipment: Tables: SAN-EI Green tables, and ITTF approved nets Balls: DHS Premium 40mm Plastic White Floor: Double Sprung Wooden Floor 26. Closing Function The Presentation Dinner and Disco will be held at Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL Cost is $65-00 per person 27. Weather Info: The temperature in Sydney in October will be mild 30. Changes: Changes in players entries will be accepted until the draw is done then after that all changes will have to be approved at the Managers Meeting at the beginning of the championships. 31. Field of Play Food & drinks are not permitted in the playing areas; smoking is not permitted anywhere in the playing venue. 32. Racket Control: ITTF rules regarding rackets and racket coverings will be enforced. No gluing or re-gluing of rackets is permitted in the playing venue. The ITTF Equipment Committee strongly recommends all players to make certain that new coverings are aired 72 hours before use. Players are not to use glues containing harmful volatile compounds (VC s) for gluing or regluing rackets. This includes glues with organic and inorganic volatile compounds excluding water. 33. Deadlines: Preliminary Entry Form: 1 st June 2016 Final Entry Form: 1 st September 2016 Final Team Entry Form 1 st September 2016
34. TTA License Fee: A TTA license fee of $8.80 per player is payable by players not in team events and will be payable on entry. 35. Clothing: ITTF and TTA Clothing regulations will be enforced. The main colour of a shirt or shorts, other than sleeves and collar of a shirts shall be clearly different from that of the ball in use. Players should be neatly dressed, and not wear any clothing that might cause offence or bring the game into disrepute. Players of the same association forming a doubles pair may wear clothes of different manufacturers, if the basic colours are the same. Opposing players and pairs shall wear shirts that are sufficiently different colours to enable them to be easily distinguished by spectators. 36. Team Photos Team Photos will be taken on Friday afternoon before and after the Opening Ceremony. Times will be advised to Team Managers. Players can pre-order photos, size being 20cm x 30cm (roughly A4 size), cost will be $25-00. Photographer is Renown Photography, Andrew Barnes, website is www.renownphotography.com.au 37. Betting: In the context of betting, participants shall not, by any manner whatsoever, infringe the principal of fair play, show unsporting conduct or attempt to influence the course or result of a competition or any part thereof in a manner contrary to sporting ethics. Any violation of this principal shall be disciplined according to provisions of ITTF regulations 3.5.3.
