EGE UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATE TRANSFER APPLICATION AND REGISTRATION PROCEDURES OUTLINED BY CLAUSE 2, FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN SYRIA, EGYPT AND YEMEN Additional clause 2, which regulates undergraduate transfers under Special Circumstances, is one of the clauses which have gone in effect following promulgation in the Official Gazette No. 28772 on September 21, 2013 and states Students enrolled in higher education institutions in countries which have been determined by the Turkish Council of Higher Education to be places where education is unsustainable due to violence and humanitarian crises can apply for undergraduate transfer to higher education institutions in Turkey. Procedures and principles regarding this issue are determined by the Turkish Council of Higher Education. The Official Article No. 758501 60-301.06-7354-52924, published by the presidency of the Turkish Council of Higher Education on 30.09.2013 states that the procedures and principles regarding this issue will be determined by the Turkish Council of Higher Education. The Official Article No. 758501 60-301.06-7740-55535, published by the presidency of the Turkish Council of Higher Education on 11.10.2013, concerning Undergraduate transfers from Syria, Egypt and Yemen to higher education institutions in our country states that; 1. Provided that students possess complete documentation necessary for undergraduate transfer, they can transfer even if they are first or final year students. 2. Applications for all departments will be taken into consideration by higher education institutes, provided that the number of applications does not exceed the 10% of quota limit set for each department for the respective year. 3. Student who do not possess the required documents can take classes as guest students at Gaziantep, Kilis 7 Aralık, Harran (Şanlıurfa), Mustafa Kemal (Hatay), Osmaniye Korkut Ata, Çukurova and Mersin universities, and that those who have provided the documentation can make the transfer. 4. Students who will start their postgraduate education (except the programs for specialty in Medicine and Dentistry) can apply to related higher education institutes in accordance with the provisions of the Postgraduate Education Regulations. Relevant higher education institutions should be contacted for information on the documentation required for transfer. According to this; A. WHO CAN APPLY? Students who can apply are those enrolled in higher education institutions in Syria, Egypt and Yemen, which have been determined by the Turkish Council of Higher Education to be places where education is unsustainable due to violence and humanitarian crises. This clause is not applicable to students who are citizens of said countries but enrolled in higher education institutions in Turkey.
B. REGISTRATION CALENDAR FOR UNDERGRADUATE AND TWO-YEAR PROGRAMS Application Dates July 06-15, 2015 Foreign Language Exam Date and Time (For programs where Preparation class is obligatory) July 23, 2015 / 10:00 a.m Date for Final Registration August 10-11, 2015 C. MANNER OF APPLICATION: Applications for undergraduate or pre-graduate programs will either be done personally or by legally appointed deputies to Head Department of Student Affairs, and application by post will not be accepted. Applications for post graduate programs will either be done personally or by legally appointed deputies to Institute Directorates within lateral transfer time declared by Institutes and application by post will not be accepted. D. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPLICATION: 1- Petiton of Application; 2- Original or approved copy of transcript of which Turkish translation is either approved by notary or foreign representatives; 3- Copies of pages of passports or identification cards in which validity time is declared, their Turkish translation should either be approved by notary or foreign representatives (for the Syrian candidates who do not have passports, they should present their identification card given to the refugees staying at Turkish camps or shelters due to the current distruption); 4- As for the first year of university, document proving that at least 180 points were obtained in YGS exam, or at least having one of those equivalent documents; SAT 1 (Minimum 1000 points) ACT (Minimum 21 points) Abitur. Austrian Matura Diploma (Matura Reifezeugnis) Italian Maturita Diploma (Diploma di Maturita) Original or approved copy of document of which Turkish translation is either approved by notary or Turkish foreign representatives; 5- Approved copy of course contents and Turkish translation of this document is either approved by notary or Turkish foreign representatives; 6- For programs including mandatory prep. class, foreign language qualification certificate (*) should be presented; 7- Student certificate indicating that candidate took university education in Syria, Egypt and Yemen and Turkish translation of this document is either approved by notary or Turkish foreign representatives; PROFICIENCY EXAM CONVERSION TABLES ACCEPTED BY EGE UNIVERSITY
For those who are unable to present these documents, Foreign Language Proficiency Exam will be held on 23rd of July 2015. Candidates are expected to get 70 out of 100 points in this exam which will be realized by our university's School of Foreign Languages. For the programs mandatory executed with foreign language, applications for the candidates who are unable to meet these conditions will be cancelled.
E. Announcement of the Results: Candidates who satisfied the application criteria and whose application evaluated affirmative by the related academic units are announced by close of business on August 7, 2015 on the following webpage: www.oidb.ege.edu.tr F. Documents required for Undergraduate Admissions Application process will be carried out by Directorate Student Affairs on the given date with the stated application documents in person or appointee. 1. High School Diploma (original) 2. Certified Turkish Translation of High school Diploma (approved by Turkish Notaries or certified Turkish representative translators abroad). All must be translated and certified by a certified translator into English and photocopied. 3. High School Equivalency Certificate from the Ministry of Education or Provincial Directorate for National Education. (original) 4. Copy of student passport (provided that the original student passport is present) translated into Turkish and certified by Turkish Notaries. Syrian citizens who do not have passports must declare given Identity Card. 5. 3 (three) passport-size photo (4.5 x 6 cm) of the applicant. Photos must have been taken within 6 months of submitting your application, facing forward and looking straight at the camera, and reflecting your current appearance. 6. Turkish Proficiency Certificate or Diploma (from TÖMER) ( C1 level), if available. Otherwise, students must take the exam given by Ege University Institute of Turkish World Studies or TÖMER Language Centers of other Turkish Universities and get at least C1 level grade. The ones whose Turkish is inadequate are allowed to improve their Turkish for a year and provided that they have a Diploma or Certificate from TÖMER, they will be able to begin their education at their faculties. PS: Once students have completed the registration process, with the student certificate taken by Directorate Student Affairs, they will apply to the closest Police Department in order to get "residence permit" and "YU No", then will deliver a copy of each document to Directorate Student Affairs. G. Adaptation Process Registered students are required to apply to the related Faculty/High School/Vocational School Student Affairs Offices in order to complete the process of adaptation. Applications of the accepted students adaptations will be made by the boards of Faculties/High Schools/Vocational Schools.
