Depending on your individual targets, you may freely combine introductory, subject-related and methodological, or practice-related, value-oriented and character-building elements. It is up to you to determine your focus and extent of generalization, speed and intensity of studies, topics to be explored, study periods abroad, entrepreneurial activities and/or social business projects.

As a Master student you have access to the Company Mentorship Concept at the Faculty of Management and Economics and are therefore in a position to establish valuable contacts at an early stage. Regardless of how you plan to organize your studies in accordance with your personal interests and preferences, you will benefit from our excellent research, strong practical orientation and a reliable network of interesting cooperation partners in the business community.

The Master program in Management will be the ideal preparation for your career as an educated economist (Alfred Herrhausen). Provided you meet all requirements you may of course start doctoral studies at the Faculty of Management and Economics.

Structure, contents Credits, certificates The Master program in Management (M.A.) covers a standard study period of either four or two semesters (120/60 ECTS credits). The program consists of a number of optional courses, and students are free to choose for the most part. They may combine seminars in Business Economics and General Management in either German or English, courses in fundamental studies or individual projects, depending on the chosen focus and personal preferences. Witten/Herdecke University Expertise, value orientation, character Germany s first private university was founded in 1983. We feel committed to Humboldt s educational ideals and interpret them in new, even radical ways. Our focus is on the individual student, the development of his or her personal preferences and potentials. We strive to be an entrepreneurial university and to integrate research, teaching and practical application. Top positions in numerous rankings regularly demonstrate our achievements in teaching and research. Student education at UW/H has a strong commitment to research and practice, value orientation and character building.

Faculty of Management and Economics Recent trends and radical changes in the global economy demonstrate that successful entrepreneurs and business decision-makers require a sense of responsibility and social competence as much as excellent subject-related knowledge. Consequently, our primary goal is to educate economics graduates with not only superb training but also character and the ability to look beyond the boundaries of their discipline. Even after the Bologna reforms, UW/H offers freedom and flexibility for individual study organization according to personal preferences, with a solid basis in research and strong practical relevance.
