INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing The SledStart TM HID Light Kit. HID Bulbs increase peripheral visibility up to 70% more than halogen bulbs and provide up to 3x more illuminated coverage than the stock lighting that comes with your snowmobile. HID Kits are easy to install, even for the most novice of mechanics. Kit is fully plug and play! Please read this entire manual prior to installing and operating the system. SAFETY WARNING PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS INSTALLATION. NOTICE!!! DO NOT TOUCH THE BULBS!!! THE OIL IN YOUR SKIN CAN CAUSE BULB TO FAIL PREMATURELY! PACKAGE CONTENTS Once you open the package you will find the following contents: 2 Bi-Xenon bulbs 2 ultra thin ballasts 1 custom fit harness 6 self tapping screws 4 heavy duty zip ties 6 small zip ties 1

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Installation is fairly self-explanatory as you can see by the inside panel of the box. You can t really plug anything in wrong. Just pay attention to wire colors (black/red) when plugging in the bulbs. The connectors are all keyed so it s just about impossible to make mistakes. You will only use one of the two 3 pin bulb sockets from your snowmobile s wire harness to operate the high/low circuit in the HID kit. Fill the other with dielectric grease or Vaseline and tape it off. It will not be used. Bulb Installation To install the bulbs, you will need to trim your rubber gasket around the bulb itself - see pictures 1-5. Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 4 On the Apex, Rage, Warrior, Attack Rx-1 type body style, they all use the same gasket. The thick rubber collar that would normally wrap around the stock H4 bulb will need to be removed. Just cut it off at the base so the HID bulb can fit through the hole. Once the gasket collar has been removed the gasket should look like picture 5. 2 Picture 5

Remove the stock halogen bulb from the headlight socket see picture 6 Picture 6 Install the HID bulb into the headlight socket. Be sure the retainer is seated into the dished area of the bulbs base (arrow A) and fully clipped into the notched groove in the headlight housings socket. (arrow B) If the retainer is not all the way into the notched groove the bulb can pop out of the socket from vibration see picture 7 Picture 7 3

Feed the wires from the HID bulb through the rubber gasket see picture 8. Picture 9 Picture 8 Position the gasket so wires will not get pinched as you stretch the gasket over the bulb see picture 9. Picture 9 Start to spread gasket over the bulb, please see caution below, please see picture 10. 4

CAUTION: Be careful not to put too much sideways pressure on bulb as you slide the gasket over the back of the bulb. Some downward force on the back of the bulb may be needed to keep it seated in the socket. Without this force it is possible to bend the retaining ring that holds the bulb in and/or break the glass bulb see picture 10. Picture 10 Work the gasket completely over the back of the bulb see picture 11. Picture 11 Use your fingers to push the trimmed opening of the gasket all the way down to the section of the bulb that is smaller in diameter. Work the gasket to get a good watertight seal. You may need to twist the gasket back and forth a bit to work out any kinks. Hold the bulb in place as you do 5

this so you do not break the retaining clip or the HID bulb see picture 12. Picture 12 Seat the outer ring of the rubber gasket back into place on the headlight housing. Be sure gasket is fully seated by pressing it all the way onto the housing see picture 13 Picture 13 6

Your final installation of the bulb and rubber gasket should look like this see picture 14 Repeat this process for other bulb. Picture 14 7

Mounting The Ballasts As far as mounting the ballasts, as you can see they are fairly sturdy. On our test Apex we mounted them on top back edge (closest to the steering post) of the black bracket going over the throttle bodies. Notice in pictures 15 & 16 the ballasts are mounted using 4 of the 6 supplied self tapping screws. The ballast must hang off the edge of the headlight pod mounting bracket approximately ¾" - 1" for the headlight pod to slide all the way back on the mounting bracket. You can slide your pod on the bracket before installation and scribe the bracket to make sure your mounting the ballasts back far enough for the headlight pod to slide all the way back on the bracket. Next place one ballast just past your scribe mark. Lightly center-punch and drill 2 small pilot holes for the self tapping screws. This will make the screws go in much easier. Use caution when drilling and drill with light to moderate pressure! Repeat for the other ballast. CAUTION! Before drilling place a rag over the top of the throttle body area to catch any metal shavings from drilling. You don't want these shavings to get down into the throttle body area!!! Also be certain that the self tapping screws do not rub, chafe or interfere with any lines or hoses under the headlight pod bracket that would cause leaks!!! If you prefer to mount the ballasts elsewhere on the Apex, you can use the supplied heavy-duty zip ties to mount them to each of the outer sides of the black bracket. Picture 15 8
