iclassroom Guide for Faculty SMARTBoard 680i Unifi 35 Learning Technology Department ScratchPad Information Select the ScratchPad option from the Startup Menu on the SMARTBoard Then you should get a White Screen on the SMARTBoard with a toolbar across the bottom of the touch screen. SMARTBoard ScratchPad toolbar From this toolbar, you will be able to: 1. Write or draw with Digital Ink 2. Change the Digital Ink settings 3. Erase notes 4. Add and delete ScratchPad pages 5. Reduce the toolbar 6. Save ScratchPad pages 7. Exit the software 8. Change inputs

To draw with Digital Ink on the SMARTBoard, you will have to pick up a pen from the pen tray. SMARTBoard Pen Tray SMARTBoard Pens The toolbar s pen option palette should activate. You can use this palette to select the shade and thickness of the lines you draw on the ScratchPad page. To erase notes, you will have to pick up the eraser from the pen tray and place it on the screen. Simply move the eraser over the notes that you would like to remove from the ScratchPad page.

To add ScratchPad pages, you will have to press the Add Page button on the toolbar located at the bottom of the touch screen. A new page should appear in the page sorter to the right of the currently selected page. To delete ScratchPad pages, you will have to first select the page you would like to delete from the page sorter and then press the Delete Page button on the toolbar located at the bottom of the touch screen. If there is only one page in the ScratchPad, the Delete Page button will clear the page. To delete all the ScratchPad pages, you will have to press the Delete All Pages button on the toolbar located at the bottom of the touch screen. To reduce the toolbar located at the bottom of the touch screen, you will have to press the button with the four diagonal arrows. This will reduce the ScratchPad toolbar to a floating toolbar.

The floating toolbar has buttons to scroll forward and backward through your ScratchPad pages and a button to add new ScratchPad pages. To restore the full toolbar at the bottom of the touch screen, simply press the X button in the corner of the floating toolbar. To save your ScratchPad pages at any time: 1. Insert your USB Drive to the SMARTBoard Control Box.

(Do not use the USB slot on the iclassroom Desktop Computer for saving ScratchPad pages) 2. Press the icon with the USB Drive on the toolbar located at the bottom of the touch screen.

You can save the ScratchPad pages as PDF, JPEG or SMART Notebook formatted files. When you press the USB Drive icon, the Save to USB Storage Device dialog box opens, providing three options: 1. Press the Save all pages as a PDF document button on the SMARTBoard to save all ScratchPad pages as a single.pdf file, with each page saved as a separate document page. 2. Press the Save each page as a JPEG image button on the SMARTBoard to save each ScratchPad page as a separate.jpg file. 3. Press the Save all pages as a SMART Notebook file button on the SMARTBoard to save all ScratchPad pages as a single.notebook file, each page saved as a separate Notebook page. Saving ScratchPad pages to your USB storage device does not delete the pages from the ScratchPad function.

To exit from ScratchPad and return to the Startup menu, press MENU on the SMARTBoard. Then select EXIT. This will allow you to come back to the Startup menu and you will be able to select from three input options to display on the SMARTBoard, which are: ScratchPad, Computer 1, and Video 1. Some classrooms may have a Video 2 option as well. If the page sorter contains ScratchPad pages, a dialog box saying Do you wish to save to the USB storage device before shutting down? should appear on the SMARTBoard with the following options: Yes No Cancel If you wait more than 30 seconds to respond to this question, all the ScratchPad pages will not be saved to you USB storage device.

Exiting the SMARTBoard software interface will delete all of the ScratchPad pages. If you change inputs from ScratchPad to Computer 1 on the SMARTBoard for example, your working pages in ScratchPad will not be deleted. If you change your input from ScratchPad to Computer 1 without saving your ScratchPad pages, and you want to go back to these pages, you just have to press MENU on the SMARTBoard and then select SCRATCHPAD on the SMARTBoard.
