Overview The GlobalProtect agent is a software program that runs on your laptop computer or mobile device that you can use to connect to the University network and access University of Louisville internal resources from anywhere in the world. Download and Install the Agent Before you can connect your computer to the University of Louisville GlobalProtect network, you must download and install the agent. 1. Log in to the GlobalProtect portal. a. Launch your web browser and go to the following URL: https://vpn.louisville.edu b. On the portal login page, enter your ULink user Name and Password and then click Login. 2. Download the agent: a. Click the [Download Windows 32 bit GlobalProtect agent] or the [Download Windows 64 bit GlobalProtect agent] link. b. When prompted to run or save the software, click Run. c. When prompted, click Run to launch the GlobalProtect Setup Wizard. 3. Install the agent: a. From the GlobalProtect Setup Wizard, click Next. b. Click Next to accept the default installation folder (C:\Program Files\Palo Alto Networks\GlobalProtect) or Browse to choose a new location and then click Next twice. c. 4. Log in to GlobalProtect. When prompted, enter your ULink User ID, Password, and vpn.louisville.edu for the Portal then click Apply. If your authentication is successful, you will be connected to the University network. Use the GlobalProtect Agent for Windows The following procedure describes how to use the agent. 1. If you are not connected to GlobalProtect, connect now. You can tell if you are connected by hovering over the GlobalProtect icon in the system tray. a. Expand the system tray, right-click the GlobalProtect icon, and select the following option: Connect Select this option to connect to the University of Louisville GlobalProtect. The agent will automatically select which gateway to connect to, depending on the configuration the administrator defined and the response times of the available gateways. b. If prompted, enter your User Name, Password, and vpn.louisville.edu for the Portal then click Apply. As soon as the agent successfully connects, the GlobalProtect icon changes to a globe with a shield. When you hover over the icon it shows the status Connected. 2. Open the application. Expand the system tray and double-click the GlobalProtect icon to launch the agent user interface. 3. View information about your network connection. Select View > Show Panel and then select a tab to view information about your network connection: Details Displays information about your connection, including what portal and gateway you are connected to. Status Displays your connection status, along with any warning or error messages. Troubleshooting Displays information about your network configuration, route settings, active connections, and logs. Disconnect from GlobalProtect To disconnect, right-click the GlobalProtect icon in the system tray and select [Disconnect]. 2014, Palo Alto Networks, Inc. [4]
Uninstall the GlobalProtect Agent You can uninstall the GlobalProtect agent by following these instructions. Keep in mind that by uninstalling the agent, you will no longer have VPN access to the University network. 1. Disconnect the GlobalProtect agent. 2. Select Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features. 3. Select GlobalProtect on the Uninstall or change a program list and then click Uninstall. 4.
