1 Introduction This document details the minimum requirements for operating systems and web browsers for Brainloop Secure Dataroom and their compatibility with the WebDAV functions, i.e. Open in Windows and Edit. If you do not want to use the WebDAV functions, the requirements described in chapter 2 are sufficient. If you want to use the WebDAV functions, the system requirements described in chapter 3 have to be met. Chapters 4 and 5 provide information on further software and hardware requirements. 2 Using Brainloop Secure Dataroom without WebDAV Functionality If you are not using a Windows operating system in combination with the Internet Explorer, you cannot use the WebDAV functions ( Open in Windows and Edit ). All other functions are available without any restrictions. 2.1 Operating Systems You can run Brainloop Secure Dataroom in a web browser on computers with one of the following operating systems installed. Note: Make sure that the latest updates and service packs are installed prior to using Brainloop Secure Dataroom. 2.2 Web Browsers Brainloop Secure Dataroom can be accessed with the following web browsers with the latest service packs installed. Activation of cookies and Javascript is required. Web Browser Web Browser Versions Internet Explorer Versions 8, 9, 10, 11 Mozilla Firefox Google Chrome Safari on Mac OS X and ios Latest two supported versions Latest two supported versions Latest two supported versions 3 Using Brainloop Secure Dataroom with WebDAV Functionality With WebDAV, i.e. the Open in Windows and Edit functions, you can access Dataroom folders and files just like you would access files which are saved on your hard drive or in your company's network. WebDAV is only available on Windows operating systems and with the Internet Explorer as your default web browser. To use Brainloop Secure Dataroom with WebDAV, the following requirements must be met. 3.1 Operating Systems The following Windows operating systems support the WebDAV protocol: Windows Operating System Architecture Notes Windows XP Windows Vista Windows 7 Windows 8 and 8.1 The support for Brainloop applications under Windows XP will be discontinued in the near future. 3.2 Web Browsers To use the Open in Windows function and to open files directly from within the browser and edit them in the corresponding Microsoft Office applications, you must have one of the following Internet Explorer versions with the latest service packs installed on your computer. Note: The Internet Explorer versions listed below can run on the Windows operating systems mentioned in chapter 3.1 above with 32-bit or 64-bit architectures. Internet Explorer Versions Internet Explorer 8 Internet Explorer 9 Internet Explorer 10 (with Microsoft Hotfix KB2846960) Internet Explorer 11 Notes 32-bit version only 32-bit version only Internet Explorer versions 10 and 11 can run individual browser sessions in 32-bit mode and in 64-bit mode together in one browser. On a 64-bit Windows operating system, disabling the Enable Protected Mode option will start the Internet Explorer in 32-bit mode. On a 32-bit Windows operating system, the Internet Explorer will always start in 32-bit mode. Note: For WebDAV to run, the Enable Protected Mode option must always be disabled for the Trusted Sites (see also list of Internet options settings below). The following settings have to be made in the Internet options of the above-mentioned Internet Explorer versions to be able to use the WebDAV functionality: The Brainloop platform has to be added to the Trusted Sites ( Security tab). The Enable Protected Mode option has to be disabled for the Trusted Sites. Cookies have to be enabled (Privacy setting Medium ). Javascript has to be enabled (Security setting Medium ). Pop-ups have to be enabled for the Brainloop platform. Page 5 of 6
4 Additional Software If WebDAV is used, only the 32-bit versions of Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013 Adobe Reader 9 with latest update Adobe Reader 10 with latest update Adobe Reader 11 with latest update Adobe Acrobat X and XI (Standard or Pro) with latest update 5 Other Requirements To use Brainloop Secure Dataroom via your web browser the following additional requirements must be met: A computer with an internet connection A mobile phone, if one is a member of a Dataroom that is additionally secured by an SMS PIN and PINs are sent by text messages (SMSes) An e-mail account with an HTML-enabled client so that the messages from the Dataroom are optimally displayed A smart card and a smart card reader or USB token and the corresponding software, if authentication is required with such a device.
