ALL MOUNTAIN 27.5 / 2015 ALL MOUNTAIN EQUIPPED For us riders here in Europe, we needed a 27.5 hard tail offering that was a little bit more capable. Enter the Myers all mountain hard tail. This rig is slack and low slung - meant for today s shredder who wants to pedal up but charge down with aggressiveness.running long travel forks places extra stress on the head tube, to combat this we use a tapered head tube, with 1.5 bearings on the lower cup and 11/8 on the upper to keep the weight down. TAPERED HEAD TUBE Keeping the rear end stiff and making it a breeze to change the rear wheel fast, all Myer s models feature a 142x12mm rear axle. Combined with this, we ve also built a replaceable derailleur hanger into the dropout. We ve dropped the chain stays to be lower in position, which avoids chain slap on rugged descents, and prevents the chain from damaging the chain stay material, and possibly the chain itself. DROP STAYS All Myers frames are equipped with the facility to run a stealth dropper post, extra guides are positioned under the down tube and a cable opening placed strategically on the back of the seat tube. Although 1x drive is be coming more popular, some riders still prefer to run traditional chain guides, so to accommodate this we ve included ISCG5 mounts on all Myers as standard. Lower rolling resistance and better traction giving you a smoother ride similar to that of the 29, but with less geometry and suspension travel limitations, or toe clearance concerns. MOMENTUM Smoother ride than a 26 wheel and greater torsional stiffness and durability than a 29 wheel for more extreme riding. During the design process of our 27.5 models we set out to make a range of bikes that would be able to be ridden in the wettest European climate, so plenty of mud clearance was essential. The tubing profile we ve used for the top tube and down tube have been hydrofomed to offer ultra-sleek yet simple lines, with uncompromised strength and a unique style like only we know how. Also by double butting these tubes, we can take weight out of the bike, creating a more responsive ride when you re out on the trails. Making the largest of obstacles the smallest of matters is a defining trait of these muddy beasts. By offering decreased rolling resistance, increased traction when cornering and improved ground clearance, one ride upon one of the massive behemoths is sure to sway even the staunchest skeptic. Bigger wheel equals smaller obstacle. A larger wheel enables you to carry momentum easier though obstacles. SURFACE CONTACT Stability 29 wheels are less prone to sinking in soft material such as sand and mud due to the larger contact patch causing lower ground pressure. The longer contact patch increases cornering and straight line traction. The relative position of the bottom bracket/cranks to the axles in the wheels also means that your relative center of gravity is lower. This results in a feeling of riding in the bike rather than on top of it. Tyre Clearance Taller Riders 29 bikes tend to offer taller riders more natural frame geometry. MISSION 27.5 TECHNOLOGY For 2015, the game is changing. We are now entering what we are calling the KnuckleBox Migration. What this means is that we have refined the platform to leverage even more performance from our proven KnuckleBox design. We did this by shifting all the suspension components forward in the frame. This increased the travel to 160mm and made room for the fast rolling / nimble 27.5 wheels. A newly designed and inverted KnuckleBox linkage and our proprietary single sided hardware round out our signature all mountain full suspension ride! The KnuckleBox, or bell crank, is the core of our single-pivot fourbar suspension platform. Optimally placed pivots equate to a low leverage ratio, and ultimately to superior pedaling efficiency and small-bump compliance. This also allows the shock to work more efficiently, reduces pedal induced motion and reduces overall load on the system which will lead to improved shock and bearing life. Placing the KnuckleBox low within the frame situates the greatest weight of the bike closer to the bottom bracket, which lowers the bike s center of gravity and allows it to track and corner better. Wheel-rate is a significant aspect of any suspension system - this is the effective spring-rate when measured at the wheel. A benefit of our four-bar linkage is increased control over the wheel-rate. Obtaining the spring-rate curves in shocks from Fox is necessary to allowing us to determine the wheel-rate. Working closely with Fox, we re able to optimize the wheel-rate to be linear-to-slightly progressive. This results in superb smallbump compliance, more perceived travel and excellent bottom-out protection. For this application we ve chosen to run a 160mm Fox Float X CTD w/ Trail Adjust Air Shock. The Float X is specifically designed for aggressive all mountain riding and the CTD (Climb, Descend, Trail) offers a wide range of compression dampening. Overall, the Float X provides a feeling of endless travel and plushness like that of a downhill rig, but with pedaling efficiency of an XC machine. It s well-equipped to tackle any street, single track, mud field, sand pit, staircase, hurdle or inclement weather between the starting gate and the finish line or home and the office. At the core is a double Butted 6061 alloy competition grade frame with formed tubes and an integrated head tube. The frame is light and durable, something that we look for in a cross bike, and the formed top tube features a flat bottom for easy portage over any hurdle.
