REPORTING REQUIREMENTS 2015 Important Information Statutory guidance can be found on the Gov.uk website, under the title Key Stage 2: assessment and reporting arrangements (ARA). Link https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/key-stage-2-assessment-andreporting-arrangements-ara Various documents relating to Key Stage 2 are available from the above site, and contain important information for schools to make an accurate record and return of data to NCA Tools:- Key Stage 2 2015 2

Important info below: NCA Tools opens Monday 1 st June 2015. All Teacher Assessments must be submitted to NCA Tools by Friday 26 th June 2015. It is critical, for critical reporting purposes, that teacher assessments are uploaded to the NCA Tools site by Friday 26 th June 2015. If no results have been submitted for Writing, a school s % RWM cannot be calculated and this crucial Floor Target measure will therefore, be omitted from key reports and databases issued by the DfE. Included in these are; the summer DfE datafeeds, the first one due on Tuesday 7 th July 2015; from Key to Success (the national pupil database and the source of your first KS2 result downloads); the September Performance Table checking data files; FFT and DfE value added calculations/ levels of progress / overall attainment calculations; from unvalidated RAISE database/schools reports; FFT School Self Evaluation Booklets. BIPI Team Key Stage 2 2015 3

OVERVIEW OF THE END OF KEY STAGE PROCEDURE The Wizard Manager area of Assessment provides an easy way of managing the statutory end of Key Stage Procedures, including the production of reports to fulfil statutory reporting requirements, (as detailed on the previous page). The wizard guides you through selecting the required Key Stage Pack(s); selecting the pupil group; entering, editing and validating the results in marksheets; the generation and printing of the reports to be sent home to parents. You will be able to export the results file, e.g. KS2 Test and Teacher Assessment data, in a Common Transfer File (CTF), via SIMS to both the NCA TOOLS and Feeder Schools. It is important to mention that when you commence processes within the wizard all tasks DO NOT need to be completed in one go. As long as you save any work you have entered into marksheets created, the wizard can be reactivated when appropriate or convenient to continue working. N.B: The wizard only deals with one group at a time for the creation of marksheets. If you require marksheets by registration groups you would need to reopen the wizard and create marksheets for each relevant group. However, the marksheets created can then be accessed either via the marksheet navigator in SIMS Assessment (could be exported if required) or by re-entering the wizard and selecting the relevant group you wish to work on. The wizard would need to be re-entered in order to print the reports for the relevant groups. It is worth remembering that all marksheets (including those in the wizard) display the latest mark wherever entered. End of Key Stage 2 Teacher Assessments can be entered into Assessment and the results will then be displayed collectively in the Wizard Marksheets, ready for validation. Key Stage 2 2015 4

RUNNING THE KEY STAGE WIZARD Selecting the Key Stage Wizard From the Home Page of SIMS select the route: Tools Performance Assessment Wizard Manager. The drop-down list in the Filter box allows you to display Incomplete, Complete or All Key Stage definitions. Each time you open the Wizard the view will default to Incomplete. The Complete check box can be selected to indicate that you have finished the Key Stage procedures. The Edit Date refers to the edit date of the Key Stage definition - when it was updated using Dfe specifications. Select Key Stage 2 Wizard England 2015. Other Wizards both current and previous may be shown. Click Next. Key Stage 2 2015 5

Selecting the Pupil Group This page allows you to select the group you wish to work on. You can also use this routine to replace a currently selected group. Click on the Field Browser button to open the Group Selector. The screen below will open. The Wizard deals with one group at a time for the creation of marksheets. If you require marksheets by Reg. group you would need to reopen the wizard and create marksheets for each relevant group. These can then be accessed via the Marksheet Entry focus. It is recommended that you select Year Group Year 6 for the purpose of End of Key Stage 2 administration. IMPORTANT NOTE: GROUP SELECTOR EFFECTIVE GROUP DATE The Group From and To Dates defaults to the current Academic Year which will include any pupil who has been on roll within that period for the group you select. The From date should be amended to 11/05/2015 to ensure that only pupils who are assessed are included in the group (and resulting marksheets). Select Refresh after amending the dates. Select Year Group. Click on the + to the left of Year Group Select Year 6 group. Click Apply. Key Stage 2 2015 6

The group is displayed in the Select Group box. Select Next. This will initiate the marksheet creation. Key Stage 2 2015 7

KEY STAGE MARKSHEETS The wizard now displays the marksheets created from the templates in the imported Key Stage wizard for the selected group. You can open these marksheets directly from this page and enter, edit and validate results. As with the first page of the wizard you have the option to filter the display to show Incomplete, Complete or All marksheets. The default filter is Incomplete. The wizard shows 8 marksheets for Key Stage 2 and each of these are explained in this guidance. The 7 th marksheet: KS2 G Broadsheet Review 2015 is a review marksheet showing the data entered on each of the other Key Stage marksheets for the group selected whilst the 8 th will calculate the Average Point Score at Key Stage 2 in both Integer and decimal formats and can be used to generate Average Point Scores from the Key Stage of 2013 onwards. The Last Used column shows when the marksheet was last used and the Complete check box can be selected to indicate that you have finished working on a particular Marksheet. Highlight the required marksheet and click the Edit icon Alternatively, double click the required marksheet. Choose the marksheet: KS2 A All Subjects TAs 2015. All schools must submit all TA data for 2015. Summary data will not be acceptable Key Stage 2 2015 8

End of Key Stage 2 Teacher Assessments The example report shown, details the statutory minimum reporting requirements to be sent to parents for each pupil at the End of Key Stage 2. The wizard contains the functionality to create all relevant reports. Schools can choose to enter all subject attainments as below, you will need to complete the KS2A All Subjects TA s 2015 marksheet: SUBJECT AT1 AT2 AT3 AT4 English Speaking and Reading KS2 Writing KS2 Listening KS2 Maths Using and Applying Maths KS2 Number and Algebra KS2 Shape, Space & Measures KS2 Handling Data KS2 Science Scientific Enquiry and Experimental and Investigative Science KS2 Life Processes and Living Things KS2 Materials and their Properties KS2 Physical Processes KS2 Key Stage 2 2015 9

KS2 A. All Subjects TA s 2015 (Teacher Assessments) Notes section provides details on how to successfully complete the Marksheet. The grey columns are formulas that require calculating. The marksheet contains columns to enter ALL Teacher Assessments. Teacher Assessments should be entered into the appropriate columns (see next page) if recorded elsewhere in Assessment the results entered will only be displayed within the marksheet if they have Been entered against the correct Aspect. The Result Set - Key Stage 2 Validated Result is attached to it. Important Note: Using F & P Grades at Key Stage 2 There is the facility within the grade set to indicate within each column if a child has already been assessed/entered for the appropriate KS2 test. Acceptable entries are F Future or P Past. These grades can be ignored if you have a standard level of attainment to record. E.g: if a child within the group selected is taking Maths early then a relevant Level will need to be assigned to Maths TA. However, the English and Science are not being taken until next year. Therefore, English & Science Levels should be recorded as F (Future) You are advised NOT to enter P if a test or assessment was taken/made in the Past as this would overwrite the existing validated Key Stage data. Key Stage 2 2015 10

KS2 A. All Subjects TA s 2015 Enter the Teacher Assessment into the appropriate columns as described below. Please refer to the information on the website: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/key-stage-2-assessment-and-reporting-arrangements-ara/teacherassessment Save. Ensure you save all entries. Remember unsaved entries are shown red, saved entries black. Calculate when data has been entered or is displayed in the data entry columns. Formula columns will be populated for checking. Column Headers detail which data each column should contain. Key Stage 2 2015 11 TA s should be entered into the appropriate columns. If a pupil is W, D, A, L, F or P it is included in the grade set. Group Membership Date must be on or after 11/05/2015 and Refreshed (to pick up pupils allocated to the Year 6 group).

KS2 A. All Subjects TA s 2015 (after Calculate ) The Calculate process will assign a validated teacher assessment level using the aggregation rules where applicable. If you right click in the column heading of either of the check columns, select Order Rows Descending - the Fail rows will be sorted to the top of the Marksheet. Missing Entry Check, verifies that all the required data has been entered when you select Calculate. If data is missing you will see a Fail. If this occurs: Data must be checked and entered in the appropriate column and recalculated If you have used the F grade in the Attainments then the missing entry check fail can be ignored Grade Check; If the grade F (to take in future) or P (taken in past) has been entered you will get an F and P warning. This needs to be checked as correct and if ok message can be ignored. Please refer to the important notes on page 11. Key Stage 2 2015 12

KS2 A. All Subjects TA s 2015 (after Calculate ) On completion select Data entry for this marksheet is complete, Save and Close. IMPORTANT NOTE P SCALES For pupils working below the levels of the Key Stage 2 tests, teacher assessment is the only means of statutory assessment. For pupils assessed as W, P Scales or NOTSEN are used to refine the assessment. The Key Stage 2 Wizard provides a Marksheet for entry of P Scale data and also the code to define NOTSEN pupils, and must be completed. Key Stage 2 2015 13

Remember: When you commence the processes within the wizard all tasks DO NOT need to be completed in one go. If you wish to close the wizard and do further inputting at a later time, you should Cancel to exit the wizard. You will be returned to the SIMS homepage. You can continue inputting data at a later time via the wizard by following the route: Tools Performance Assessment Wizard Manager and select Next until you reach the Marksheet screen. Select the relevant marksheet by double-clicking with the mouse or highlight and select the pencil icon. When you are ready to continue working, access the Wizard from the Homepage of SIMS via Tools Performance Assessment Wizard Manager. IMPORTANT NOTE Although a KS2 B Minimum Subjects TA marksheet is available on the wizard all data must be recorded using KS2 A All Subjects TA. Therefore, please disregard marksheet KS2 B Minimum Subjects TA. Key Stage 2 2015 14

The next Marksheet for completion is KS2 C. P Scale Data Entry 2015. Select and open this Marksheet. Statutory P Scale Data Collection This information is taken from the Assessment and Reporting Arrangements 2015 for Key Stage 2 Pupils: NATIONAL CURRICULUM ASSESSMENT If child is assessed as W for the following attainments: Speaking & Listening Reading Writing Maths Subject Level Science (aggregated Subject Level) P SCALE ASSESSMENT Must be completed as shown: Speaking Listening Reading Writing Number Using & Applying Mathematics Shape, Space & Measures Science Reminder - English as an Additional Language At each Key Stage it may be that a pupil has been assessed as Working toward level 1 because they have English as an Additional Language (EAL) status rather than Special Educational Needs (SEN). This must be indicated by assigning NOTSEN to the appropriate P Scale column. Key Stage 2 2015 15

KS2 C. P Scale Data Entry 2015 Subject Level Teacher Assessments are displayed as Read Only columns from the data you entered into Marksheet A. Group Membership Date must be on or after 11/05/2015 (to pick up pupils allocated to the Year 2 group). If you completed Marksheet: KS2 A. All Subjects TAs 2015, it will be clear which attainments require P Scale assessment or NOTSEN. PLEASE NOTE P1i P3ii are applicable to children in Special Schools only; children in Mainstream schools would be assessed against P4 P8. Key Stage 2 2015 16

The following chart outlines the P Scales that can be recorded. All Subjects TAs 2015. A pupil was assessed as W in Speaking & Listening, Reading, Writing, Number & Algebra and Shape & Space. P Scale Assessments are required in: Speaking, Listening (which are separated in P scales), Reading, Writing, Number & Algebra and Shape & Space. Even though the aggregated English subject level was W, Fiona was only assessed as Working towards Level 1 (W) in the two strands Speaking & Listening and Reading, therefore P Scale data is only required to be entered for these two strands. Key Stage 2 2015 17

INPUT P SCALE DATA TO MARKSHEET Enter the P Scale Assessments into the appropriate columns as previously described. When data has been entered, select Calculate, this will initiate an automatic data check for missing data. If missing data has been detected (i.e. a Teacher Assessment of W without an appropriate P Scale Assessment) you will receive a warning - Please check in the column Validation; together with the number of possible problems in the adjacent column. Check for any missing data and enter as required. Select Calculate and recheck for missing data. On completion select Data entry for this marksheet is complete, Save and Close. Key Stage 2 2015 18

KEY STAGE 2 TEST RESULTS The following information was taken from the 2015 KS2 Assessment and Reporting Arrangements guidance booklet. In order to report the Statutory reporting requirements before the end of the summer term to parents, (if schools do not import the electronic version of the KS2 results, which will be available on the pupil results section of NCA tools at: https://ncatools.education.gov.uk/ ) you must be prepared to manually enter the result levels into Assessment. As indicated the marked test scripts and results will be made available by Tuesday 7 th July 2015 to carry out this process. Key Stage 2 2015 25

With regard to the End of Key Stage 2 Tests, in summary, the statutory minimum data per individual, to be reported to parents is: National Curriculum Test results Teacher assessment levels for Speaking and Listening, Reading, Writing, English Overall, Mathematics and Science Comparative information about the national curriculum levels of attainment for pupils of the same age in the school Comparative information about the national curriculum levels of attainment of pupils of the same age nationally. The Key Stage Wizard in Assessment will assist you in providing the required reports: Individual Student Report This report contains: National Curriculum Test results Teacher assessment levels for Speaking and Listening, Reading, Writing, English Overall, Mathematics and Science P Scale assessments, if applicable. Comparative Report This report contains both: Comparative information about the National Curriculum levels on attainment of pupils of the same age in the school Comparative information about the National Curriculum levels on attainment of pupils of the same age nationally. Please be aware that both of these reports do rely on the pupils test levels being entered into the system. As stated, if the electronic results file has not been received, you must contemplate entering results manually, to meet the reporting deadlines. Pupils Transferring to Secondary Schools It is worth noting Common Transfer Files created for Year 6 pupils will have incomplete assessment results until all data has been received and imported/entered. If this year group are leaving the school you must send CTFs to their receiving schools. However a further CTF will need to be created and exported on completion of recording the Test Levels etc. Key Stage 2 2015 26

KS2 G. Broadsheet Review 2015 This is a very large review marksheet showing all the details recorded for each pupil against the group currently selected. After importing the electronic results File from NCA Tools the marksheet should include all Teacher Assessments; each Test Result Level and each Raw Score achieved in every test undertaken for each pupil. The Broadsheet is therefore very useful. The Broadsheet is designed to show the English information, followed by Mathematics, then Science and finally any appropriate P Scale levels entered. The number of columns within the Marksheet are therefore, quite considerable. You will need to scroll along to see each section. In this documentation we have supplied a snap-shot of the first few columns on the Marksheet. It is possible to view the aggregation of the data within each column at the bottom of the marksheet (see following screen example) this is displayed as: Total: A sum of all the result values. Number of Results: the number of results in the column (this should be one per pupil). Mean: The Mean Point Score for the Group of Pupils per column. Median: Middle value of all the numbers once sorted in order of size. Mean Grade: The Mean Grade for each Test or Assessment for the Group of Pupils. Median Grade: Equivalent grade of the Median value. Key Stage 2 2015 34
