Starfish: (4 to 18 months) An introductory class for babies and their parent or caregiver. To enter this level, babies must be able to hold their head up. The goal of this orientation to water class is to experience buoyancy, movement, entries, and songs and play in the water (with assistance). Duck: (18 to 30 months) A class for toddlers or older babies to build confidence in the water while playing games and singing songs with their parent or caregiver. The object of this class is to perform front and back floats, move forward and backwards and use arms (with assistance). Sea Turtle: (30 to 36 months) This level is an introduction to skills in swimming, glides, and floating and builds awareness of deep water and safe entries. The child performs front and back floats with recovery and uses buoyant objects support (with assistance). Sea Otter: (3-5 years) In this level, the child will float and glide on their front and back. As well, jump into shallow water and become oriented with using breathing techniques such as blowing bubbles underwater (with assistance). Salamander: (3 to 5 years) Preschoolers actively learn new swimming skills including assisted floats and glides through games and songs. The child practices front/back floats and assisted glides as well as a distance swim of 2m.
Sunfish: (3 to 6 years) This class develops front and back floats in deep water and jumps into deep water with assistance. The front and distance swim for this level is 2m. Assisted by an Instructor, preschoolers work on stroke and skills progressions Crocodile: (3 to 6 years) Preschoolers start independent glides and kicking in deep water. Endurance is built through increasing distance for front and back swims. The preschooler learns jumps into deep water, uses PFD in deep water and a distance swim of 10m. Whale: (3 to 6 years) In whale, preschoolers front and back swim distance swim is 15m. The child applies water safety knowledge in activities such as throwing assists and improves endurance with different stroke techniques.
Swim Kids 1 School Age 6 to 12 years Swimmers develop front and back float, front and back glide, flutter kick (assisted), shallow water entries and exits, and swim 5 metres. Swim Kids 2 Swimmers learn front and back glide with flutter kick, develop front swim, complete deep-water activities (assisted) and swim 10 metres continuously. Swim Kids 3 Swimmers increase their distance on front and back glide with flutter kick, perform flutter kick unassisted, wear a PFD in deep water, float in deep water, and swim 15 metres continuously. Swim Kids 4 Swimmers learn back swim with shoulder roll and front crawl (10m), work on flutter kick on back, perform kneeling dive, introduction to sculling and swimming 25 metres continuously. Swim Kids 5 Swimmers develop front crawl (15m), learn back crawl (15m) and whip kick on back, learn strike dive and treading water, perform head-first sculling on back, and swim 50 metres continuously. Swim Kids 6 Swimmers increase their distance on front and back crawl (25m), learn elementary back stroke (15m), learn dolphin kick, tread water in deep water, perform front dive, and swim 75 metres continuously. Swim Kids 7 Swimmers increase their distance on front and back crawl (50m), learn front scull, perform whip kick on front and dolphin kick, learn stride entry and swim 150 metres continuously. Swim Kids 8 Swimmers increase their distance on front and back crawl (75m) and elementary back stroke (25m), learn breast stroke (15m), learn eggbeater/thread water, perform feet-fist surface dive and standing shallow dive, and swim 300 metres continuously.
Swim Kids 9 Swimmers increase their distance on front and back crawl (100m), elementary back stroke (50m) and breast stroke (25m), learn sidestroke kick, perform head-first surface dive, and swim 400 metres. Swim Kids 10 Swimmers increase their distance on front and back crawl (100m), elementary back stroke (50m) and breast stroke (50m), learn sidestroke (25m), perform dolphin kick (vertically), learn feet- and head-first surface dives with underwater swim, and swim 500 metres continuously.
