INSTALLATION GUIDE Inside your box you will find your hub motor and all the parts for your electric bike kit. Your kit includes a 36V 500 Watt Direct Drive Motor Hub along with either a front or rear 26" or 28" tire. This motor has a top speed of 23mph. If you bought a complete kit with battery, please proceed with the installation guide. If you bought only the e-bike kit without a battery, you will need to purchase your battery before proceeding. You will need to purchase 3 SLA 12V batteries and connect them in series to achieve 36V. The motor bike may also accept a Lithium 36V battery. STEP 1. Parts Identification 1. Battery Bag 2. Bike Rack for Battery 3. SLA Battery Charger 4. Brakes with motor cutoff switch 5. Thumb Throttle 6. Spare Grips 7. Electric Speed Controller
STEP 2. Remove existing wheel and install new wheel If you are not familiar with changing tires/tubes on a bike we highly recommend having a professional bike shop to install the kit for you. Remove the existing wheel from your bike. Next, packaged with your kit should be a new tire and tube. These may come separate. Inflate the new tube (1 pump) to give the tube some definition. Install the new tube along with the tire on to the electric motor hub wheel.
STEP 2 (cont) Wheel Mounting Direction It is recommended to test the direction that the motor spins using battery before mounting the on to the bike frame to make sure that wheel spins in the correct forward direction. Next, install the entire wheel hub back on to the bike and tighten the nuts securely. FRONT wheel installation - wire from motor hub should be coming from out from riders right side. REAR wheel installation - wire from motor hub should be coming out from riders left side.
STEP 3. Disconnect the Handlebar grips and Handlebar brakes Remove the existing handlebar grips from the bike. These can sometimes be hard to remove, sometimes they can simply be twisted off. Another method is to get a screwdriver up and under the grips and spray hairspray under them and twist them off Next, remove the existing handlebar brakes. You may need to release the cantilever brakes on front and rear. On the brake lever there is a barrel and lock nut, both with a notch in them. Align with the notch on the brake lever, pull the cable out and remove the small round ball attached to the end of the brake cable. STEP 4. Install the thumb throttle, handlebar brakes, handlebar grips First, start by installing the handlebar brakes included with your kit on to your bike. Re-Insert the small round ball to completely attach the brakes. Next, install the thumb throttle on to right side handle bar. Tighten it down just enough to keep it from moving freely but enough so that you can still move it. Next, reinstall the handlebar grips on to your bike.
STEP 5. Install the rack on to your bike seat post. The included rack works only with bikes with a seat post with diameter of 27.2mm to 31.8mm. Remove the seat post from the bike and check the diameter of your current seat post. It is usually imprinted somewhere on the seat post. If your bike seat post has a smaller diameter, you can either wedge the included black pads to install the rack or you can purchase a "seat post shim" from Amazon which will allow you to use a smaller seat post size with the included rack.
STEP 6. Wiring Start running all of your cables towards the back of your bike. Loosely zip tie them, keep them clean as hidden as possible. Make sure that when running your cables you have a full turning radius without putting tension on the cables. If you do not allow enough room for full turning radius you will pull the wires from the inside of the motor and this is not covered under warranty. All wires will connect to your electronic speed controller. Follow the diagram below for wiring instructions. Tighten zip ties once wiring is complete
STEP 7. Install the battery bag and controller bag. If your kit came with a battery pack, you can install the battery pack into the battery bag and secure it to the rack. There are 2 options to mount the electronic speed controller Option A: place it into the battery bag together with your battery pack Option B: place it into the smaller controller bag. If you choose to install the electronic controller into the controller bag, you will need to find a good location to mount controller bag. STEP 7. Battery Purchase and Installation Your hub motor can use either SLA (Standard Lead Acid) or Lithium batteries. The voltage must be 36v. For SLA wiring, you will connect 3 units 12V SLA batteries in a series to achieve 36v. STEP 8. Finish! As with all E-Bikes, use common sense. Do not hop curbs. Especially if you are using an SLA pack or you will break your rack. Avoid potholes and treat it like a car.
WARRANTY Your kit is covered for 6 months. These kits are flawless and will last you a lifetime. What we do not cover is over voltage, we do not cover if you spin out the axles inside of your dropouts. We do not cover if you burn the speed controller by connecting backwards. We will not cover your speed controller if the fet's are burnt due to not pedaling with the kit on hills. We will not cover return shipping damaged. Speed controllers must be mounted so that they are well ventilated. Speed controllers along with the other electrical components are not 100% waterproof and water intrusion is not covered under warranty. We will not warranty any abuse to our kits. We will not warranty a kit that has been rewired, over tightened, or any other misuse. We stand 100% behind our products. If in fact you connected your battery backward and fried the speed controller we can tell immediately. All kits are bench tested as a complete unit with all of the components in your box. We test each and every kit as a whole under no load for 20 minutes and under heavy load for 20 minutes We are unable to be there when the kit is installed so it is up to you to understand the high torque involved at the dropouts and install them correctly. These kits are over designed to put up with the harshest conditions and are completely over engineered. If for any reason you do not feel confident about installing our kit then you should have it professionally installed as you may harm your kit, you may harm yourself. All kits must be shipped back with all original connectors for any warranty work. If the kit has been altered in any way it is not covered by warranty. All parts must be shipped back as a complete unit (whole kit for testing if it is not working).
